[GUIDE] Keybindings & Tips For New Players

The thing that a lot of people don't realise is that ArmA supports multi key binding. For example lean left & lean right toggle I have mapped to my mouse tilt wheel L&R buttons. At the same time the same buttons are set to evasive left & right ( the famous rollypolly). If memory serves me right while in aircraft mode the same mouse buttons are set to left/right pedal. Three different binds using the same button/s. When you see a bind is in conflict in the control options, this does not mean that there will be problems, just that the key is multi bound to different commands. Sula, I have walk/run toggle bound to R/shift without any problem, just check what other command is being used with the same R/shift and clear those that are not required. Make sure that your config files are set to read/write and not read only. Also make sure that you bind your keys with the correct character active. Might help, might not. -

Start with the exe. found in the expansions/beta folder of your ArmAII/CO installation. -

Ah ha ! smasht they were actualy working in 1.7.4.3, when the next (public) build went live they were disactivated. Rocket gave his reasons and further to that the lighting had no effect on Z awareness, so the only people that benefited from them were the snipers. Tried and tested. -

Not sure that I understand. The beta should be extracted to the ArmAII Expansion folder. Find the same file (beta) in the main ArmAII directory and delete. Load the game using the beta exe. file found in the ArmAII / expansion folder. You can see Vs N°+ beta N° bottom right of screen. This is just trying to get the vanilla game running.

Once you are patched up open the game using ArmA2/OA or CO, this may depend on your build. You can see the build + beta N° on the opening page when the game is launched : No need for Steam unless your game came with a Steam key, even so you do not need Steam to start. ArmAII launcher is really quite easy to use. You can see the path on the bottom line on my installation... This is how the dayz mod folder should look (old version). Might help, might not.

First thing is to make sure you can run the vanilla game. Offical patches install themselfs but make sure the path is correct. Keep in mind that ArmAII and OA/CO are separate games.
