So the new SKS is almost ready to go. It shoots 7.62x39mm. However it has the same 930 m/s (3,050 ft/s) muzzle velocity as the M4, the Mosin, and the Magnum, which have all had that value copy-pasted from ARMA's M16s. The M59/66A1 should have a muzzle velocity of 748 to 756 m/s. In addition the ballistics for the round are still incorrect, the same as in ARMA. It loses far too much velocity over range. Updated the OP.

The patterning on both the full-length and sawn-off shotguns is significantly larger than it was in ARMA. Comparison, 15 yards: Game: ARMA--------IZH-43-------IZH-43 sawn-off Spread: 15 in-----------28 in----------------95 in Compared to real life at the same distance according to one test, shot size unknown. 30" barrels---------12" barrels 10 in--------------------12.5 in You can judge for yourself which game was closer to "real life".... by the way, press "T" to switch to "both barrels at once" and in that mode your sawed-off should have the same patterns as the full-length, for now at least. Not only does it have a spread over 3 times larger, but the sawed-off version is also 5 times less accurate than the full-length version. Still need to test more to fully verify. tl;dr: you will get more pellets on target with the full-length. That means more damage which means better chance of killing people.

If you dump the FMJ and give all of them quality hunting bullets the list goes .223 < 7.62x39 < 7.62x54R.

I wish Wasteland hadn't turned into Wasteland. It used to be a decent mission, now it seems like every populated server has TUSKS and Ospreys coming out the ying-yang. tl;dr, reduce the amount of high-tech weapons and ammo. Why not.

Attachment system for upcoming weapons and interoperability
-Gews- replied to Easy_Tiger (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I'm gonna guess "no". Some Russian guy posted a picture of the AK-74 model "in the white" (bad Russian guy, bad Russian guy). Anyways, it had the handguards and stock already attached to it, no magazine. They use proxies for the attachments and the magazines, they can't alter the actual models in-game, so I don't expect to see any different handguards or stocks. Side rail mounted optics, yes. -
Tell him to run to Olsha, there's a cliff he can throw himself off.

Update on different cartridges. From Reddit. Someone found this: I wonder what weapons these will be for. I wonder if it's a typo, meant to say "7.62x54R".
-
It's still there for the long range scope. It was never in SA for other sights.
-
You're thinking real life. It doesn't reduce recoil, redirect any gas or change the noise and flash in-game. Like I said, it just gives your gun the same accuracy as bipod plus prone. That doesn't make any sense.
-
I may as well come out and say it plainly: I hate how this device has been implemented and this thread is sarcastic. I'm pointing out how the new compensator's dispersion-removing effects make absolutely no sense. Nor is it at all consistent when you have the same device stuck on AK-74s by default. What, does it turn the Mosin into some kind of Wunderwaffe, but the same device does nothing on a Kalashnikov?
-
Nope, they removed that feature. What you see in Frankie's video is post-processing.
-
Yes. Anyways the AK-74's device looks almost exactly the same as the one we will soon be finding for the Mosin. It's likely to be better designed as well. So logically, the AK-74 should get from its muzzle device, by default, the same accuracy-enhancing benefits that the Mosin gets from its compensator, no? Should be a fully-automatic laser beam.
-
Not my screen; Phantasm found it on a test server. It's been there since the day of release, it just wasn't added to the loot. Btw, this thread is mostly about the AK-74M's muzzle device...

No no, give us a PKM. Fits the setting 650 rpm, spawns with bipod, sights adjustable to 1,500 meters and with the new health system it's gonna be 1 shot kill. Me gusta.

^but it says right on it: 20% Cooler. Maybe we should have "item: paint stripper"

Lol @ the two-shell speedloader for the shotgun. I assume the speedloaders will let you reload with the scroll wheel like with detachable magazines, instead of having to go into your inventory to do it.
-
I'd like to see them just because I'd expect to see vehicles, they wouldn't disappear and they wouldn't all be destroyed either. I never use them much though, they're only good for ferrying people and hoarding gear, IMO, two things I never did.

Yep. It's actually HALF magnification. You sir, need to take a class on how ARMA works. It's not logical for vision to zoom in. That's why vision doesn't ZOOM IN. There is no eagle vision, elf eyes or bionic man, it's just common sense, which is why ARMA has always done scopes that way. If you wanted scopes to be measured relative to the default "zoomed out" level, they would have to remove the "zoom" ability entirely for it to make any sense, and then you wouldn't see anything past a few yards. You can ask on the bistudio forums and see what kind of response you get from the ARMA "vets" and the modders who understand how FOV in these games work... They should be 1x zoom but they're actually only about 70% of 1x zoom. They could fix this by: [a] reducing players' "zoom" abilities to the same as iron sights or increasing iron sights to the same as players' zoom abilities In either case the zooms should be the same whether looking down iron sights or not.
-
The zoomed-in level IS zero. It's 1x. Zero, 1x, no magnification, etc. They let you zoom out because you'd need a massive monitor to be permanently zoomed in, otherwise you'd have an unplayably narrow field of view. Technically your eyesight is never zooming in at all. Think of it as being permanently zoomed out by default. Eyesight in real life is not eyesight in game. The ARMA system is "true to real life", that is how all scopes are measured in ARMA 1, 2, 3 and Operation Flashpoint. A 4x scope is 4x more magnification than normal eyesight. The sudden exception to all this is DayZ standalone. Everyone's noticing that the PUs and ACOGs "barely zoom" for a reason, it's because they're right, they barely zoom.
-
This is not how zoom is measured. Zoom = magnification ABOVE your maximum default eyesight. You maximum default eyesight remains the same in DayZ as it did in ARMA. Example of how scope zoom is measured: The M68 is non-magnified and is a true 1x zoom. It's the only optic with correct zoom. The iron sights actually zoom LESS than your normal eyesight zooms. They are only 0.71x. The ACOG zooms 1.5625x more than your default eyesight. I detailed this in the thread "the Campaign for Iron Sight Zoom". Taking from your measurements, 4.785/3 = 1.595 =~ 1.5625.

Glad to hear it, I'm curious to know the reason why.
-
All this talk of "nerfing" and "buffing" disgusts me. You got shot, deal with it. Don't scream "nerf". You can put 5 rounds in a Mosin whether you have a stripper clip or not. You couldn't even use stripper clips with the scopes in the way.
-
It only zooms 1-9/16 times, bit less than 1.6 power. Who knows why.

Not a Mauser product. But I did see *a couple* Mausers.
