Get rid of the m4...and replace with period and place apropriate weapons.
-Gews- replied to Armadyl's topic in Suggestions
They should get rid of those 10, 20 and 40 round magazines. -
I'm just gonna say anyone who uses less-than-lethal ammunition in a real life firefight fully deserves their Darwin award.

No. But what's with the whole COME TO BRAZIL <3 BRAZIL LOVES YOU thing I'm seeing everywhere?
-
Nope, I already said it very clearly: It doesn't affect people's gameplay in any noticeable way. It's the knowledge that it's true to life, and not numbers pulled out of a hat. With lack of wind drift and auto-zeroing, either this is going to be important to you, or it's not, either way refer to the sentence above. Same system as in ARMA, ARMA 2 and ARMA 3, they haven't changed it one bit (this is a good thing), hence all the values pulled from the ARMA series. You can make a script and track them. V: -0.0135258 XY: [3626.07,3343.76,64.5313]T: 0.28 V: -0.767854 XY: [3593.84,3382.18,64.508]T: 0.35 V: -1.69837 XY: [3554.14,3429.51,64.3937]T: 0.42 V: -2.43109 XY: [3522.97,3466.66,64.2324]T: 0.49 V: -3.12758 XY: [3493.46,3501.84,64.0169]T: 0.56

DayZ will be ruined by immature gamers
-Gews- replied to The Beast of Chernarus's topic in General Discussion
Hm, what's likely to be more "realistic" in this regard? The long-running milsim series ARMA 1, ARMA 2, and ARMA 3, or the brand-new zombie apocalypse game DayZ? I know the answer to that one, so yes, I shall keep right on bitching about the weapon characteristics. -
^ This is me right now This site can be bad for one's health, my blood pressure must be 200/80.

SKS is not a very suitable rifle for sniping.
-
Still somewhat surprised he's made these DayZ videos. Never thought it would be quite his cup of tea.
-
Uh, most notably Tokarev, CZ-52, M57, Type 54, PPS, M56... all the pistols I mentioned are quite common and inexpensive.
-
-
More like between 1.25 and 1.3 seconds, 2-3 seconds would be ~1050-1400m.
-
No FNXs or Pythons. The Python is such a bad choice. It looks pretty muchl ike what you'd expect. Mostly cheap guns, mostly older models./
-
In Russia not as many as more modern handguns, but still quite a few. In other former Warsaw Pact countries, none or almost none.
-
Doesn't really matter to me, the only consideration is "would I find this in real life"? Just want to add in at least three of the Russian news stories I found, the Nagants had been used or converted to fire other ammunition, in one case bored larger, in another case turned into a smoothbore, in another case the guy made his own ammo, which didn't work out very well for him. Not exactly common stuff these days.
-
The military surplus ammunition has about 50% more energy. More, depending on the load. Modern commercial loads are underpowered. That being said, a few more feet per second won't make much difference. Both are still going to poke a small .30-caliber hole. It is anemic by modern standards. Will probably have decent penetration though.
-
Mausers are pretty common, many countries used some form of Mauser to begin with, and thanks to the Germans millions of K98Ks, etc, are still spread all around the globe. German Mausers have been used recently in Afghanistan and Iraq. Yugoslavia kept on producing their own 8mm Mausers until 1965. Apparently they've already made a Mauser for standalone, looked like a Gewehr 98 but the shot wasn't great.
-
It can fire various .32 caliber cartridges, not .38 caliber. The Nagant is a .30 cal revolver so the bullets are slightly oversized. It's not recommended but that's up to you.

Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft! You serious? Worst. Points. Ever. I'm sure combat will be oh-so-affected by the proposed 1/20th of a second decrease in flight time when trying to lead shots with a .45 handgun at 150 meters. As for turning bullets into paintballs to allow teh bambehs to skip freely through the fields... with the exception of the .45, all of these rounds are way too fast, in most cases sped up to physically impossible levels, so there goes the survivability and game balance theory. You know why the ballistics are wrong? Because they copy-pasted the values from ARMA and haven't gone over them properly. End. Of. Discussion. [a] There is a separate thread for dispersion. This thread deals with external ballistics ONLY. It doesn't affect people's gameplay in any noticeable way. It's the knowledge that it's true to life, and not numbers pulled out of a hat.
-
What does this have to do with this thread? This sounds like it belong in the weapon accuracy thread. How does having correct aerodynamics negatively affect your gameplay? How is having correct muzzle velocities off-putting? [a] unless good shots have somehow developed telekinesis, they aren't going to be able to change the velocity or the in-flight aerodynamics. Unless training under Yoda are they. the average player doesn't notice the difference.

That depends. I put "real life" in brackets because it varies. At 50 meters, about 5% off. At 150 meters, about 15% off. With the suggested corrections, about 0.1-0.5% off at 50m, about 0.2-1.0% off at 150m.

Oh, by the way: it has a base accuracy of 17 MOA. That means it will print 18-inch groups at 100 yards, only half as accurate as the base Mosin but much better than an M4, unless it's one with full Magpul. As per usual, in real life these rifles are many times more accurate than this.
-
It uses different ammo. Ostensibly, "7.62x39", but I'd call it something else, the characteristics are wrong for 7.62x39. It's more like 125-grain .300 Savage. Here's one for you though: the Mosin now uses 7.62 NATO.

True. The sawed-off version will of course have no choke. That being said it won't have anywhere near this amount of increased dispersion. In-game, any increase should be very slight. The barrels are still about 12 inches long, the dispersion would be very similar.
