Knife damage, Knife type, Knife grip

Ah... the Hibben copy of the Musso bowie. Many people have severe doubts about the authenticity of that knife; in any case it's not a typical example and the design is not very practical either. Some examples of very early "bowies", the Forrest, Searles and Schively/Perkins. Here's a "bowie" at the Alamo museum, this is actually a trade knife. Some examples of common fur trade knives. Later the bowie morphed into the form we know today.
  2. PvE servers are not "unscripted human interaction" Usually they ban you for murdering people, and all have strict "rules of engagement". If they could turn off "friendly fire" I'm sure a fair amount would. Restrictive and forced.

These M4 kids need to be dealt with.

    Shorter barrel = louder.

These M4 kids need to be dealt with.

They remind me more of typewriters.

These M4 kids need to be dealt with.

That is why armies don't issue bolt-action service rifles...

These M4 kids need to be dealt with.

Yes Mr Koala. It's too inaccurate.

These M4 kids need to be dealt with.

They need to make it more accurate than the Mosin or SKS and reduce the recoil and muzzle flash Then these "M4 kids" will expend less rounds and seem much more skillful

    Why not.

I disagree, I don't like looking at something in-game and realizing "that doesn't make any sense". There are plenty of other differences that could be made between the different types of knives.
  10. What, seriously? Don't be turning this place into a Reddit-style care bear circle jerk. Killing other players is not only extremely common but also perfectly acceptable and furthermore all the players he shot were well-armed so I'm baffled why anyone would have a problem with it.

    Weapon damage vs. "Armor"

It's not, it's pretty terrible It will be changed

That doesn't make much sense either, but axes and knives are two different things... all these knives are essentially the same thing. One knife shouldn't act completely different than another knife just because it happens to be called "military" or has a black-coated blade. Any difference in damage should be rooted in reality, ie: blade is sharper, blade is bigger, blade is heavier. Other differences should come down to durability and ease of carry. Here are two knives. Top is a Khyber knife made for killing people - bottom is a kitchen knife made for cutting food. Note the similarity. With equal sharpness and size, is there going to be a large difference between the damage these two knives do? No. Should there be a large difference between these knives in a game? No. Same logic applies to DayZ. If a kitchen knife is nice and sharp is it quite formidable.

I don't agree with different "chances to bleed" (all knives make you bleed). Getting stabbed with a Kabar will have the same end result as being stabbed with an 8-inch chef's knife, so it shouldn't be "military knife = 1 shot kill" while other similar knives (kitchen, hunting, survival, etc) are weaker. As well the differences in weight are irrelevant for speed. The advantage of the Kabar is the more secure grip and the stronger blade. A razor sharp knife will cause more damage much easier than a dull knife will, sharpness along with blade length should be the main factor for damage, but even a dull knife stabs well.

    Is there bullet-water physics?

Water does stop and/or deflect bullets. They can also ricochet off the surface. That's from ARMA 2. I haven't tested but I don't see why it would be any different in the standalone.

    AKM or the AK-47?

People wanting the AK-47 over the AKM are choosing based on the name. Which is silly. And as Gregor says it wasn't even called "AK-47", it was just called "АК", so the name is a moot point.

    Zeroing Issues/Question

It doesn't, it gives you a more useful trajectory. Zeroed at 400 and aiming at someone's waist you would hit their torso from 0-400 meters. Zeroed at 800 and aiming at someone's waist you would hit their torso from 0-90 meters and 750-800 meters. 400 is more useful overall.

    Zeroing Issues/Question

You can't reliably estimate. Scope magnification is different than in ARMA 2, and altering the FoV slider's default position changes magnification as well.

    M4 without carry handle?

Last I checked it doesn't affect accuracy.

The ONLY 50 That Should Be Here

Yes, the thing is twice as powerful - in another class altogether.
  21. As I just said, the two sources for that information are completely and utterly useless.

The ONLY 50 That Should Be Here

Weight almost 40 lbs, is over 6-1/2 feet long, would be a poor weapon for almost every purpose and is an uncommon museum piece.
  23. Did you check the sources they used? Source one, an online Fox News article, and source two, an Oxford economics paper which makes no distinctions between the "AK-47" and the myriad other types.
  24. And as well, as "ilikeguns" mentioned a couple days ago, AK-47 isn't even the official name. It's just "AK" according to the Russians. Which is why we have "AKM" instead of "AK-47M". Funnily enough ARMA's classname for the AKM is "AK_47_M".
