The Ruger MKII Is Coming, But Whats It Like?
-Gews- replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
What's it like? -quiet -very weak (16% of FNX damage, 40% of blood and shock damage) -low recoil (1/3 of FNX) -more accurate than FNX or Magnum (18 vs 27 inches at 25 yards) -every single one belonged to the best sniper in the American military (?) -
That clip doesn't sound very authentic though. Most cameras don't do a good job capturing gunshots. He is wearing those earmuffs for a reason. Off the first page of results, this clip is somewhat more like it.

Pointless removing a collapsible stock, you'd still have the buffer tube sticking out. May as well keep the stock.

*insert ARMA 3 joke here*

Well like I put before, it appears they are going with the more prolific AKM: This is a good thing.

Is it too much to ask for smooth controls?
-Gews- replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
They are weapons. The only reason many people have suddenly stopped labelling guns "weapons" is to try to pander to or influence the antis who might be reading their posts. Is a sword not a weapon just because it's hanging on a wall? Hey, maybe it's a utensil. By your definition weapons don't exist until they are used as such. "Nuclear weapons proliferation? What proliferation? There have only been two nuclear weapons." And I'll also add here: if they're not "arms", then you have no right to bear them! Fire-arm. It's in the word itself. Wrong on both counts. "Assault rifles don't exist" and "the weapon word" are two pet peeves of mine. Anyways the controls need smoothing out, "it's for realism" is not a valid reason to keep terrible clunky, non-interruptible animations and nasty negative acceleration. They did it better in A3 so they should be able to do better, if not perfect, in SA. -
They don't even allow civilians to reload in Russia. It's illegal.

I disagree, "assault rifle" has a clearly-defined definition, it is a valid term. Since the assault weapons ban many pro-gun people have disliked the term because it "sounds bad". They want to present their guns in a positive light so they don't get banned again. I've even seen many people say their guns aren't weapons at all, just "tools" for self-defence or hunting, which is a bunch of laughably euphemistic bullshit. The definition of "weapon" doesn't include "weapons are used for bad purposes only". Most guns are weapons. However your Colt isn't an assault rifle because it's not select-fire, I'm assuming. As well the term "assault weapon" is political nonsense, as opposed to "assault rifle". -
Just gonna add: people can disagree on the LEVEL of zoom, but the fact some zoom is needed can't be argued, unless you want to turn the game into more of an arcade experience. Last time I checked ARMA 3 zooms somewhat less than ARMA 2.

^the helmet in that photo isn't "Sphere-C", it is "K6-3". That thing weighs almost 8 lbs. I don't see it being at all useful for the average survivor. In addition it's not riot gear, it's a helmet for counter-terrorist units or weapons teams storming buildings and such. People fully expecting bullets shot their faces. For comparison this "only" weighs 6.4 lbs.

Yes did the OP forget about the new combat log protection?
-
You don't need to pull out the bullet, you can do more harm than good, some surgeons even knew this back in the 1850s... http://medical.tpub.com/10669-c/css/10669-c_122.htm http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WeHaveToGetTheBulletOut

The other day a thread was made about "Slav clothes" - the thread was closed because it was offensive stereotyping of Slavic people. However tracksuits, leather jackets and squatting are not Slav stereotypes at all - they are well-known things associated with the "gopnik" subculture, not an ethnicity - so when presented correctly they should cause no offence (similar to stereotypes about other subcultures, for example, hippies). This was most prevalent in the early 1990s. English Wikipedia: "Gopnik is a sub-culture native to Russia and post-Soviet countries characterized by aggressive behavior, specifically towards the weak, a predilection to the Blat criminal subculture, and abuse of alcohol (specifically beer, vodka and "Jaguar" cocktail). Fashion preferences include Adidas tracksuits and dress shoes. In the winter, a leather jacket and tuque hat (known as "pidorka") are added to a typical Gopnik's attire." Russiapedia: "Today, a modern gopnik is characterized by aggressive, occasionally nationalistic behavior, and dresses in a style that usually involves either real or faux athletic gear, generally taking the form of an Adidas style ‘track suit’. Attire also typically includes a specific style of cap that hides an extremely short hair-cut. The stereotypical image of a gopnik includes squatting in archways, parks, or at trolleybus stops, smoking cigarettes, drinking beer and eating sunflower seeds as a beer snack." Clothing items should include: -striped tracksuits -leather jackets -down jackets -"kepka-tabletka" -square-toed dress shoes And of course alcohol and a bindable "gopnik" squatting pose. Hmmm... I wonder why that might be.

Should the dot crosshair be removed from hardcore servers?
-Gews- replied to ztranger's topic in General Discussion
I don't care, having an unobtrusive HUD doesn't bother me and I don't necessarily consider crosshairs "unrealistic". -
Ah... the Hibben copy of the Musso bowie. Many people have severe doubts about the authenticity of that knife; in any case it's not a typical example and the design is not very practical either. Some examples of very early "bowies", the Forrest, Searles and Schively/Perkins. Here's a "bowie" at the Alamo museum, this is actually a trade knife. Some examples of common fur trade knives. Later the bowie morphed into the form we know today.

later in the future, will there be actual PVE servers?
-Gews- replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
PvE servers are not "unscripted human interaction" Usually they ban you for murdering people, and all have strict "rules of engagement". If they could turn off "friendly fire" I'm sure a fair amount would. Restrictive and forced. -
Shorter barrel = louder.

They remind me more of typewriters.

That is why armies don't issue bolt-action service rifles...
