    CZ 527

Chris Torchia posted this screenshot of a new rifle, appears to be a CZ 527.
  2. No. I am actually excited about the mackerel though. It solves certain problems for my character. The only issue is bait and equipment...

Different shoes should be good for different things

Except for the crappy athletic shoes, all shoes are the same durability so the only difference is absorbency, which is probably how well they resist water/weather damage. Don't think it does much at the moment.

Certain people on /r/dayz spamming Nutnfancy and Hicock45 videos or copy-pasting tutorials with titles like "how to field strip an SKS" are annoying, if that's what you're talking about.
  5. They kinda did. It's not - but they did.

Different shoes should be good for different things

Yes, different shoes for different things. Right now it's just "better shoe" vs "worse shoe". There's no reason to wear athletic shoes or low hiking boots if you can find a pair of wellies. It goes like this, by the way: Best: Wellies Better: Hiking boots, Jungle boots, Military boots, Combat boots Average: Low hiking boots, Working boots Worse: Jogging shoes, Leather shoes Worst: Athletic shoes

Nah, you don't code a "dispersionModifier" system by mistake. From gamescom Reddit topic: Redditor 1: "Are those things going to have a practical effect or will they be completely cosmetic?" Chris Torchia: "sure, we can assign attributes to the attachments. What would be the use in attaching a suppressor to your gun if it didn't make it quieter? But I doubt we'll assign an effect to every single attachment. Its hard to quantify in practical terms the effect of replacing the standard A2-style plastic handguard with a Magpul-style one on the gun's performance." Rocket: "Only thing really is probably subtle changes to the dispersion values." Redditor 2: "No but putting free floated handguard would improve accuracy! Also standard handguards dont have rail sections where the magpuls do. Rocket if you ever need ideas for guns/gun related things check out /r/guns" Chris Torchia: "Yes, exactly. Free Float RIS wold have an impact but for those items that have negligible impact on the gun's characteristics, I wanted to present a functional choice. The Magpul-style handguard is a perfect example. It's not free float and doesn't allow you to attach the same number of attachments as a full metal RIS would but its kind of an intermediate 'level' in between the carbine length A2 handguard and the 4-way RIS, which could be used as the highest 'level' for more advanced attachment options." So it sounded to me like Torchia wasn't thinking of adding any significant dispersion modifier to Magpul, for instance, perhaps none at all ("But I doubt we'll assign an effect to every single attachment. Its hard to quantify in practical terms the effect of replacing the standard A2-style plastic handguard with a Magpul-style one on the gun's performance") but it sounded like Rocket was in favour of the idea ("Only thing really is probably subtle changes to the dispersion values"). Like I always say I don't care about dispersion, only that the values chosen are logical, "authentic", etc.

    akm stock

It's not intentional, they just copied the properties of the M4 stocks. The M4 has 0.1 dispersion and the furniture removes 0.0440968*2 resulting in 0.0118064. The AKM has 0.008 dispersion and the stock removes 0.0440968 resulting in 0. The M4 is the only gun with such a high initial dispersion. The AKM dispersion (0.008) is closer to the the SKS (0.005). It would seem they intended it to have 0.008 dispersion and the stocks modifying it was a mistake.

And if you have the railed handguard, you can remove your stock entirely. Rails are just that awesome. (by the way attaching a bipod is detrimental since this gun already has 0 spread)

    CZ 527

ARMA 2 did it decent, not perfect, with small flash, visible smoke, and larger flash at night. Could spot enemies firing from dust and smoke. Current standalone flash is definitely a step backwards. Why did I bring up flash in this thread? Because Torchia mentioned it in his Tweet, good opportunity.

Check out Commando again, DayZ muzzle flash is actually significantly larger and more noticeable... FF to 1:34 and go from there.

    CZ 527

Yes, it is. It's the same for every centrefire gun, when I see it, it looks really wrong and "gamey". It looks pretty much the same as the scenes from First Blood where Rambo's blasting his M60 (caught it on TV the other day). Maybe it's still waiting to be reworked- I sure hope so. I don't get it. We've just seen one picture of the thing. It's either using 7.62x39 (probably) or .223. It has no replaceable Magpul parts or railed forends. Hard to see where they can go wrong with this one unless they're really trying to.

PLEASE just add a "Anywhere suicide button"

No way, then what would be the point of luring people into the forest and breaking their legs?
  14. -Gews-

is blaze 95 good for snipe?

The only good point is the high damage, it has fairly poor accuracy and no optics. AKM with PSO-1, M4 with ACOG and bipod.
  15. Annoyed submachine gun will most likely be using wrong ammunition. Excited for the mackerel.

    CZ 527

In the case of this rifle you might be right, depending on the ammunition. If it lasts only 1 frame at 40 fps that's still anywhere from 4-12x too long, and it's remaining at its maximum size the entire time, in addition to being solid white in colour. They can't reduce the time so they need to reduce the size and appearance: flash is too big. Overall the muzzle flash is highly exaggerated.

    Crossbow

Those aren't the damages, those are additional effects, it does more damage than the 1911.

Just had a terrible thought. This uses detachable box magazines. Hope they aren't like hen's teeth.

(Oh, and I will also take this opportunity to note the continued presence of the very large Hollywood muzzle flash I always complain about)

    M4A1 Stocks

Magpul only The tradeoff in accuracy is ridiculous, with RIS + CQB you will be able to keep all your shots on a 0.5m target up to max 30m. With Magpul up to 250m. Who cares if it moves a bit quicker with CQB, even without the M4A1 is still the most responsive rifle in the game.

    Journey to the (North) West

The new patch is out so I decided it was a good opportunity to check out what lay to the northwest of the map. I looted a bunch of food from the towns and trains surrounding Devil's Castle and ran up there to have a look. Looking at the northwesternmost corner of the map. I only have one gesture bound, so there it is. Setting the compass just so. Damn sun is the only object of interest. Yes, even the sun is interesting when you're in the debug plains. Reasonably well stocked with supplies after killing a sniper and looting several towns. Turned out I didn't need them, a kiwi, orange, and couple Rasputin Kvass served just fine. At this point I have lost both the "hydrated" and "energized" status I started out with. This is the end of the journey after just over an hour of running, not counting the multiple server restarts and breaks. There was absolutely nothing. Back at last. It always seems quicker returning. I arrived roughly 800 meters east, an error of about 1.75 degrees. I had gone about 26 kilometers off the map. I wouldn't recommend it.

    THE PATCH IS OUT

  23. Easier, harder, doesn't matter - worse. If we are talking either good PvP mechanics or authenticity this should be a painfully obvious conclusion. If you care about neither then it doesn't really matter.
  24. At least it doesn't play stupid. I remember a long time ago Rocket proposing more limitations on third-person and acknowledging the problems it creates: "I think that it has been demonstrated that there is a "problem" with the allowance of third person, and the proposed solution is the best I can come up with. It's not perfect, but if we just allow servers to turn it on/off then I think demand will dictate that people gravitate to 'third person allowed" servers - despite them acknowledging the exploits." "It's going to be hard to get it right, but I really want us to try. I find I am using third person alot in DayZ SA while running long distances, or to "check" my character (like to see where I am shot to check direction of firer), but then third person is so exploitable in prone. So we are going to try both forcing first for prone, and the "sucking camera in close" and see which works best. Agree too, crouching would really benefit from a more "over the shoulder", we'll try that and put some previs up for people to comment on."
  25. Those things should have the "snap-loaders" at all. Speed loaders for the Python is one thing but the double-barrel? The Blaser? Not for those. I think ideally, you should press "reload" X times to load X rounds one by one, and press it once to load a magazine or some such, provided you keep the rounds in an outer pocket and not somewhere hard to access. One problem is with the reloads and animations. You can't reload rounds one-by-one, right now "chambering" a round just means you're placing a one-shot magazine into the gun, and gun can't have five magazines loaded all at once. There is also only one reload animation per weapon. So until that is changed we are stuck with the current system I suppose, to give some advantage to stripper clips and speed loaders, otherwise they would be pointless.
