And some weapons with a lower recoil should be tighter than this. Depends on experience also: I don't think DayZ player and his recoil should be representing a noob, but not Delta Force either. Also you will notice, recoil is not exactly appropriate for various weapons. Fire a FAL and fire an AKS-74U side by side... I don't think old version was any more accurate in full auto. I remember AKM jumping around like crazy. And not even necessarily that "unrealistic." 10 m or 25 m in game can seem deceptively short though. Maybe I will make a silhouette and test on silhouette target at 10 and 25 m later and see about how many hits.

Well here is a test. Dispersion values are about the same, or the same, for full auto and semi. If you look at the weapons bumping around you will notice they are hardly aligned at all times. Of course it depends on the gun but I think the baseline thinking for mag dump accuracy should be "shotgun pattern".

Yes, that's on stable.

Maybe you're right. But the DayZ Expansion guys scripted simple helis, it's not the same task as a realistic flight model and whatever assorted things devs wish to add to it. I am assuming here that the developers, if they do make them, will be making their helicopters to the same standards as an updated ARMA 2, as ARMA 3, or as the over-complicated DayZ standalone cars. So, not a rush job. Modders had almost all the missing weapons re-introduced very quickly: "Not A Banana" posted the "WeaponReduxPack" mod on November 7 2018, that was the exact same day that the developers opened the Steam Workshop and released mod tools. Clearly working on it beforehand, but the 0.63 update only came in June 2018, and Arkensor's Community Offline Mode was was only posted in September. So it couldn't have been for that long. So modders can do it very fast. They can take a model or multiple models and easily add that in a single day. Yet DayZ developers have taken an average of 1+ month per weapon last time I checked. Admittedly, a while ago, but not too much since then either. And there's no estimated time of completion for this, and it's not even known if we'll ever see all the weapons they showed us in their development previews. And that's mostly because the task is larger (animation etc). So working helis? You think they can pull it off in 8-12 months? Alright, but I doubt it. In 2021 I will come back to this thread either way.

Aerial vehicles and bows? Q4 2021? 2022? 2023? Maybe. This year? No way (bookmark me).

How is it "weak" when it's the most powerful rifle in the game? 110 damage. Every gun was nerfed for 1.0. They are all weak compared to earlier versions. According former DayZ lead designer helmet is intended to take direct shot from full-power guns. Doesn't mean it should require several headshots. Let me put it this way, here is a lever-action rifle with .45-70 "+P" rounds. Commonly thought of as a "bear stopper". The bullet in the picture is over 3-1/2 times the weight of the Mosin's bullet. Tremendous power and recoil. Since DayZ, coming from ARMA, has ballistics that are at least sometimes based on something, you can figure roughly what kind of damage this round would have in the game. And to take down the bear, this gun would require three (3) headshots. Never mind the body shots. And since the magazine only holds four rounds you better get them. Getting a bit ridiculous there. In fact, if you base the damage on real life, it would require ridiculously powerful rounds like .50 BMG, .577 Tyrannosaur or .700 Nitro Express, depending on how you calculated it, maybe a .600 Nitro, to kill a DayZ bear with a headshot. Even most elephant rounds like .375 Magnum, .416 Rigby, or .470 and .500 Nitro Express would be unable to do it. Elephants, yes. DayZ bear? Not even close! Getting a lot ridiculous!

No, there's no such spot. You used to be able to shoot them in the head, but they increased the health of the head significantly. Head on red deer, for example, used to be able to take only 25 damage, now it takes 170 damage. That's almost 7x as tough.

Is it allowed to leave a server when...
-Gews- replied to slowfast70's topic in New Player Discussion
It's allowed on official servers. On many private servers other players can report you to the admins who may ban you for "combat logging". -
And if you want to play a game with a steel-plated bear, try Five Nights at Freddy's.
-
They should reskin it as a radioactive zombie bear, there, problem solved.
-
I agree, the bear should be tough, but you should be able to take down a bear with a powerful hunting rifle like a .308. Requiring four headshots with that is silly. You shouldn't have to arm yourself like Rambo and have a fusillade of automatic gunfire to kill a damn bear. The bear has a lot of health but also armour values on top of this which make it act like it's wearing plates. A powerful bolt-action rifle like the Model 70 or Mosin is fairly useless right now and forget about things like the CZ-527 or IZH-18.

My bet is on the bear!
-
This is not an issue with the Mosin Nagant, this is an issue with the brown bear. It's the same armoured bear with every gun in the game. The best anti-bear weapon is "Vaiga"/Saiga + buckshot, which can kill the bear in 2-3 headshots.

You have ARMA documentation/tutorials also to work from, and go to the modder's Discord server if you did not already. Making a nice map will never be simple. But people have done it. Nice tools and tutorial and documentation would be great but it's just wishful thinking, a daydream. Like, have you seen the tools!? "Object Builder" still looks basically the same as it did in 2001. So don't hope for much. And DayZ is faaaar behind ARMA in modding support and documentation. So I agree it would be great, but you got to make do.

They gave it a massive damage buff in 1.06 experimental (seems they do not mind ignoring the weapon's real life characteristics). It does 95 damage, plus 3x armor damage multiplier. Should easily destroy a pristine plate carrier with one shot (in real life, it would penetrate soft armour but be stopped by a hard plate). I don't see why it shouldn't have a 20-round magazine but it is now fairly strong (for better or worse).
-
I think it's safe to say that they will never make a paint-by-numbers for this stuff. It's Bohemia, you have to put in the effort.

Yes, if a player tries to order me around, I will shoot at them. How disrespectful. Eg: "Put your weapon away." no u

Novelty weapon. I don't think it could take out bandits, or even chickens, but it may prove useful for memeing.

In America some departments might use semi-automatic rifles but in Chernarus these guys already have submachine guns so if they had AKs I don't see why they wouldn't just have proper AKs, or ARs. There's not a good reason to add a new .223 round, the rifles would accept the 5.56 rounds too, and it would not be much less effective anyways (95% as fast as a 5.56). Dexterity was removed from the game. I don't think brand new AR-15 in those tiny civilian cottages would feel right either. Maybe on rare occasion. The game already used to have 10rnd 5.56 magazines, not sure why, those were military loot, I wouldn't have added it in the first place, and now it doesn't spawn. They could have made something like a VEPR 7.62x39 + 10 rnd magazine though. When I read the title I think of things like Browning BAR or Benelli ARGO. But, they already finished the weapon list. And they are NOWHERE close to implementing even all the weapons WE ALREADY HAD, never mind the all those previewed ones like the PKM, the Taser or the rocket launchers. I expect it will be measured in years and that maybe, they may not even manage all of them. So further weapons are essentially out of the question.

I go around looking for people to kill, or if unarmed, to mess with and maybe kill. Sometimes they happen to spot me and speak, and if they sound alright I don't kill them, and we run around for a couple hours. On occasion I have been known to go to lonely places by myself to just explore or test game mechanics. A lot of the time someone else spots me first or outplays me and I am killed and repeat the process. Things that I do not do: -repair vehicles -build structures -fish -hunt -cook -make leather clothing -make stashes of loot

Not in DayZ, it's intended to provide protection against 1 full power sniper shot, at least as of May 5th 2019. "Currently ballistic helmet (which is highest tier) saves you from 1 headshot when hit from full power cartridge (.308win or 7.62x54mmR) in trade of unconsciousness."

Make Dayz Great Again! PLEASE! (English translated at the end)
-Gews- replied to ZinMas 101's topic in General Discussion
I agree broadly with most of your points, I don't agree with the notion that the survival gameplay was much better in previous versions. It was not. But I do not like their changes to backpacked weapons, hill running, bullet damage, melee system, and so on. -
They already said no crossplay, there's no plans about server infrastructure etc to support such, and it's not even the exact same game on all platforms. For example, on PS4, large nametags pop up on the screen when someone speaks. This is a Sony requirement. Etc.
