  1. +1 You shouldn't be spawning in immediately to get back to your body or to get back into a fight. There needs to be consequences apart from loss of some gear. It would also prevent many new spawns from throwing themselves off towers and bridges to spawn somewhere else. Want to play immediately, okay, find a different server, seems fair. Don't like that, shouldn't have got killed, go find something else to do.

    Hmm, here's a thought outside the box defined by this thread: if you don't want a G3, how about not adding a G3? There are plenty of rifles limited to semi-automatic with relatively low RPM, pick one of those. If you want me to take a hint, first you have to give it.

    I'm talking about ARMA 2's VSS Vintorez, the only vanilla weapon to use 9x39mm. You must be talking about a mod which included the AS VAL, then the damage is left to the modder's whim. I made a thread about it a long time ago and some diagrams.

    It had them do too much actually! Instant kill at any range and a few shots would destroy vehicles. If you want to change the damage you just change the numbers, there's nothing linked to caliber, it was the ARMA 2 dev's decision to base damage most all damages on muzzle energy.

    It's "only" 9mm but the bullets are twice the weight of those in the 9x19, heavier than those of the .45 and are moving faster as well. Supposedly it yaws on impact and at 1.4 inches long that would do some damage.

    Hm, by my calculations it should be about the middle of the "i" in "Field" for the rangefinder to work correctly. The chevrons shouldn't matter, just range and use the zeroing to 600m, no it won't work at 800m. Never actually tried this scope though.

  10. Yeah, so when I'm holding an M4A1 I'm shaking like a leaf, but pick up a 10/22 or a Mosin and suddenly I'm Mr. Cool Under Fire? I don't think so. Besides, I was firing at a castle wall, hardly a high-adrenaline experience. I don't care about dispersion or lack of, I care about logic. Add a few more to stay on topic: CZ 527 Zastava M85 Bars 4-1 Howa 1500 Problem is the first three are all a better fit for the 7.62x39mm.
  11. I should not carefully place my sights on a zombie's nose and have my bullet hit his stomach at a range of 50 meters, if I'm lucky that is. This doesn't happen with any other rifle in the game, neither the Ruger, SKS, Mosin, Blaser, etc.
  12. Last night I killed some guy sniping NEAF and snatched his M4 among other things.. I tested it, recorded it and discarded it. The performance was truly disgusting. The range is 53m +/- 2m.

    The G3 is not semi-automatic. That would make it "not a G3". Who cares about this anyways? It's not a machine gun, smart players will not rattle off rounds on full, having full auto isn't going to make a noticeable difference in its effectiveness. I never missed the lack of full auto on the mod's M14 and I never, ever used the burst mode on the Takistani FAL. The AKM should have semi-auto when they start fixing the weapon configs. Not according to R4Z0R49. "7 pages of so called reasons why they got removed. i can pretty much say every page of reasons is incorrect. I can also say every page has a valid reason to keep and a valid reason to remove. But none of them are the reason we have removed." Anyways your mind seems to be stuck in the universe of "DayZ 0.45". Please step back and consider real life. G3s do not dominate the battlefield wherever they are found. It's just another rifle. :rolleyes: If there is some problem now, then make the game more "authentic" and there would be no problem with adding a G3, this is not hard to understand. And, like I said, if it's so "overpowered" you "need" to alter it, then don't add the thing in the first place. You hear the same kind of thing with the M14.

    No mistake. People are saying the G3 would be such an "overpowered" rifle that it can't be added to the game without multiple "nerfs". If that was authentic behavior and the G3 really allowed soldiers to dominate everyone with the mystic power of fully automatic 7.62 then the Germans would have been silly to switch to the 5.56mm G36. :rolleyes: If there is a problem then it's not the fault of the G3, it is with the damage values and damage system and it should be changed. Not "solved" by making a 5.56mm or 7.62x39 G3. Those wouldn't even be G3s - so what would be the point in adding such fictional weapons?

    Did you ever play ARMA? Get shot by a single 7.62x51 under 800 meters and you were most assuredly dead. Despite this they were hardly unbalanced. It should not be like that in the first place anyways. There were plenty of these "full auto Mosins" and guess what, most all were replaced for general issue by intermediate caliber weapons by countries that could afford to do so. I could not care less about the balance, it's a dirty word. If something is so unbalanced (TWS weapons, tanks) that you will have to make large deviations from reality to fit it into the game - then don't add the thing in the first place! Got that already, it is known as AKM...

    We already have that, it's called the SKS. We already have that, it's called the M4A1. There's no reason for guns to be fair. Last time I checked a G3 was just a rifle, not some kind of Wunderwaffe. If the G3 is so amazing the Germans must have made the mistake of the century in swapping to the G36, eh? Change the damages and damage system to be more realistic and "poof" the main advantage of 1-shot-kills suddenly goes away.

    They do not, that's the ARMA 2 reticle, not the real one. Furthermore that's with ARMA 2 7,62x54R.

    Doesn't this have zeroing to 1000 meters? Then why bother with the arrows? At default FoV I think it would be something like 430m, 590m, 690m for the arrows and 200m zero with AKM. This scope seems like a much better representation of a PSO-1 than ARMA 2's, which had the wrong reticle (more like PSOP) and lacked "zeroing".

    As far as I know that pistol was developed solely for the civilian market. What you're describing sounds like the stories of both the Mars and Brigadier pistols.

    Improving the Long Range Scope

    They have another scope in the files, I believe it will be a Zeiss Terra 3X 4-12x42. This scope is only available comes with either their duplex or one of two ballistic reticles so it makes sense to have the duplex in that and mil dots or otherwise in the long range scope. I think that one has a space of around 6 inches @ 100 yards. And that scope has capped turrets and it is modelled with the caps on so it shouldn't be able to be "zeroed" without going into inventory and clicking "remove caps" but that's kind of pointless.
