This is not lying helpless, but wounded character states are coming. However, if you really can't do anything, it's not much different than the current unconsciousness state, apart from the ability to shit talk and relay information to teammates. But details aside, yes, there should be various stages between "dead" and "alive".

I tried it with V3S. Didn't work for me because you can't see where you're going, you can't access your compass, the sea floor has bumps and mountains that change your direction, and also the truck fell through the map after a few minutes.

The nobility, skill and courage of french #dayz players summed up in 67 secs

I met some friendly French just a few nights ago. But we were betrayed by some unfriendly French. "Vous êtes mauvais les mecs, sérieux. Merci pour la voiture." -
Radical New Idea: Knives Do Stabbing Damage and Extend Reach
-Gews- replied to agouti's topic in Suggestions
Just give them one good chop, run away and wait for them to either bleed out or bandage. Improvements... knives should be able to attack much faster but should still take multiple attacks to kill. The fist knockouts need changing. -
Like it or not, dark nights means people will put up gamma and brightness. With the nights so bright the devs effectively turned up everyone's gamma and brightness. Better the full moon and playable default brightness than pitch black nights and everyone a gamma bandit IMO.

Up-to-date Gun Comparison: CR527 vs IZH 18?
-Gews- replied to tatchell (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
We won't be able to agree because we seem to have completely different criteria for these items. Depends if they want to make this more game or more simulator. The former? Select weapons because they have some unique features and/or contribute to game balance. Latter? List of items is dictated by whatever real-life situation the game is based on, and the only thing the IZH has to do is help represent common civilian firearms. For that reason I think this rifle is one of the best selections they've made. The first criteria above excludes so many weapons. No bolt-action .22, too useless compared to pumps, levers and semis. CZ75, Hi-Power, SIG or Glock: pick one. Remington / CZ / Browning / Tikka / SAKO / Savage / Sauer / Ruger / Howa / Weatherby .308 (or similar) hunting rifle? Nope, despite representing the most common type of civilian rifle... all similar to Winchester, so only one will be chosen from this vast category. Same criticisms of IZH-18 goes for any single-shot rifle. Etc. Do I use the IZH-18? Nope. It sucks and I always find something better before I find ammo. Even if loot spawns, damage and movement was fixed, it would still be inferior. Given that guns are used for PVP, why would anyone want a single-shot instead of a bolt-action? But unless there are guns spawning everywhere as now, we may not get to pick and choose so easily. Cheap fairly popular rifle, deserves to be in game. There are quite a few weapons I'd rather get rid of. -
Up-to-date Gun Comparison: CR527 vs IZH 18?
-Gews- replied to tatchell (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
It doesn't need a "place", it's not a competitive game where you choose your loadout and each weapon has balanced pros and cons. As a cheap gun which seems to sell well in former Eastern Bloc countries it's a good addition to the weapons list. Once it accepts a scope and the various spawns are worked out it may be a bit more useful but not every weapon is going to be equal. -
20 m is about what the bow's effective range should be, if effective range is defined as the distance one has a good chance of a kill.

Up-to-date Gun Comparison: CR527 vs IZH 18?

About the same if you have no scope or magazine and no comparison otherwise. Technically IZH is more accurate but not in practice. -

You don't need the feathered *cough* fletched arrows, you can shoot sharpened sticks from the bow.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
-Gews- replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
It looks like it will be going in—but it's certainly a tongue-in-cheek addition. -
This also applies to things like fire axes or sledgehammers.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
-Gews- replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
I'm still convinced the addition of that weapon is pure trolling by the devs. -
They didn't put the rail there for nothing...

Discovered it by accident, click near the feet and drag sideways.

Didn't realize -newui could rotate the character. Archery at 300 meters.
-
Probably a silly question... but did you press Q or E to shift out of neutral?

Thanks to apparent mistake composite arrows are now so slow that simple equations ignoring air resistance give reasonably accurate results... Max range = 91.77 m (in-game ~80 m) Highest point = 22.94 m (in-game ~21 m) Range at 5° = 15.94 m (in-game ~16 m... Saturday was between 130-150 m) Highest point = 0.35 m (in-game ~1/3 m) Range at 20° = 58.99 m (in-game ~55 m) Highest point = 5.37 m (in-game ~5 m) Which ironically is more realistic than in any patch before.

It's not simplifying anything IMO, just changing where it's put. CfgAmmo gained this while CfgMagazines lost it. I wonder if it's related to new hot bar reloading or some other upcoming change. I suspect this may be something where they have to "take a step back to move forward". The barrel length will have a difference up to 50% in some weapons and I see no reason why standalone would be less flexible and correct than ARMA 2, whereas many things have been made more complicated/advanced. I think they'll correct it at some point.
-
Hm. They put the muzzle velocity in CfgAmmo. I don't like that, all weapons using a given ammunition will now fire their bullets at the same speed, before they could at least give different speeds for each mag type, for example, Longhorn vs Winchester, PM73 vs Makarov, Repeater vs Magnum (which was not the case, but which could have been done). But I assume each weapon will eventually get its own velocity modifier which would be a better solution.

Composite arrows now drop like rocks. Checked for change, seems they altered the usual system, looks like initspeed is no longer listed in CfgMagazines (?).

Last night I was at Cap Golova lighthouse on DayZUndergound testing my bow when I spotted a fresh spawn running with a truck battery. I figured there was a car around, found an offroad in the marsh to the west. I camped it for a while, no one showed up, so I shot an arrow into it. Car started glitching out. By aiming at specific points I was able to tip the vehicle onto its side. At this point I started taking fire. Three military guys were running up, they chased me through the marsh but I lost them by sneaking through a defilade and under the bridge. I took a position on Pik Kozlova and observed them milling around the offroad. Ran back down and moved up on them as they approached the highway. They didn't see me in the bushes and I was able to kill two of them. ...but while running away more of them popped up from various positions in front and behind me... after exchanging fire with at least three others I died. Spawned in Three Valleys and began a 2-hour journey through various small towns, Tulga, Msta, Shakhovka, Guglovo, Vyshnoye, checking every house, and then back down to a vantage point on Pik Kozlova. Had a Magnum but no rifle. I couldn't see any players below. Moving down, the car was still in the marsh, still on its side, now with 4 wheels, a battery, some loot and my arrows placed into the inventory. I was the "oldest" player on the server and it seemed no one was around so I went back to test my bow against the lighthouse. Then this guy ran past me and into that shed, obviously looking for car parts, likely from the same group I encountered earlier... I went prone but my bow was now stuck in my hands. I had to break it into materials to equip the .357 as he ran behind me and into the lighthouse. I could hear his character breathing. Shot and killed him when he stepped out. Ran away down the coast, then back up the mountain, where I saw a small dot moving through the marsh. Binoculars confirmed, he had respawned nearby and was heading to his body. I went back down. He saw me running up to the lighthouse. I noticed movement behind a fence, his geared friend came out and rushed me. Killed him, then BOOM, the fresh spawn had found a Magnum. He missed and clicked empty. I shot him as well and hid both bodies. As I was fleeing the scene I saw more movement behind a small rise. Yet another guy pushing up. Skull balaclava. Shot him, he started evasive maneuvers, I ran in the opposite direction and heard footsteps, a guy with a shotgun running past me. I came up behind him and we fired at each other with terrible accuracy. After the second barrage, he died. At this point his skull balaclava friend was within breathing distance and I had to reload. He sprayed 30 rounds from his MP5K and didn't connect, I emptied my revolver. We repeated, he missed again, I didn't, he went down. I moved out and ended up safe and sound near Topolka dam. I was surprised no rounds hit me out of nearly 100 hostile projectiles. The performance seemed relatively good, there was no really obvious desync. I saw one of these guys animation glitching early in the evening and in the last fight my weapon stopped playing its reload animation. The arrow vs car bug might be useful for getting vehicles unstuck. It seems to help if you remove the wheels. While in Msta this happened. Went on for a couple minutes. He didn't seem to realize he was speaking globally.

It won't stay this way. Sharpened sticks = place on hotbar and use like regular ammo, reloads one at a time. All other arrows = drag into bow one at a time.
