Horrible performance.. decent computer?
-Gews- replied to duphapotimas's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Another thing you can do to improve performance quite a bit is turn down the resolution. Just make sure to keep the interface and 3D resolutions set the same as each other. -
I don't know how to stop it, but I always do that in the ArmA editor with C130s when I'm bored...

I don't really want to play Buffalo Bill with survivors, but basements are a good idea. And other underground places. I wanna see a large storm drain opening into the sea!
-
Well, my in-game character is over 30, judging from his white beard.

Hahahaha, I just looked up the trailer for World War Z... please tell me that was a joke.... while I agree they are cool, those zeds are like flesh-eating ants! They can form human towers and topple buses while coming in waves of thousands! Every player on a server would be dead at first contact! :0 I played solo today, fresh spawn, got an AK-74 within 15 minutes, ran to Zelenogorsk, crawled to the general store, killed a bandit who had aggro'd many zeds with his partner, got shot and went unconscious, woke up and bandaged myself, crawled to the guy's corpse (with a zombie standing on it) and took his ALICE pack and M16 without the zombie noticing, then found food and a revolver in the general store, then lost several of these "un-losable" zombies again before logging. Zombies aren't the challenge with 1.7.5.1, the challenge is I can't eat cooked meat and instantly regain full health. :P

NVG glasses in 1.7.5.1 [warning: spoiler]
-Gews- replied to _Anubis_ (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I doubt they'd be removed, seeing as Rocket was talking about breakable NVGs being in the standalone. -
NVG glasses in 1.7.5.1 [warning: spoiler]
-Gews- replied to _Anubis_ (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Heh, I have that setup and I do exactly that. Also, I only play at night on the public hive <_< too many valuables (GPS, rangefinder, etc) and less hackers. -
This is coming in Standalone, to a degree; not sure if anything reasonable could be done to implement this in the mod (I highly doubt it).
-
Yup, it sucks, if you haven't downloaded malware, let someone on your computer or hacked yourself, then you probably had your key used by some hacker who got it from a random key generator. Happened to at least one person on this forum. Edit: actually that's extremely unlikely, but still, technically possible.... hell if I know. I'm not gonna jump to conclusions since I'd hate to get a global ban and have hackusations thrown at me if I'd done nothing.

A week... where's the roflmao smiley?

Lulz. My profile / Edit my profile / Signature. Don't know if there's some sort of minimum post count since I haven't checked before. Edit: look, I changed mine to some random-ass Indian thingummy.

Whoa, 8000x8000. Nice find.

At first I was afraid, I was petrified Kept thinking I could never live with someone by my side And I spent so many nights killing all the fresh new spawns And I grew strong, and I learned how to get along And so you're back, from Chernogorsk I just walked in to find you here with that AK in my face I should have changed that stupid plan, I should have not shot those friendlies If I had known for just one second you'd be back to bother me Meh, I'm bored.

My solution:

Don't even make third-person an option for DayZ standalone
-Gews- replied to Pomegranate's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
How can you get sick from first person if you turn off the irritating head bob? -
I agree, helicopters are ridiculously easy to fly. In a perfect world, we'd have DCS: Black Shark level simulation for the helis and other vehicles... my eyes shine at the thought. You'd actually have to read all those instruments.

Reloading shot shell, a practical approach to the zombie apocalypse
-Gews- replied to wolfsburg62's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't like the idea because you're not going to find people using "Dragon's Breath" shells or rock salt in a zombie apocalypse. If they managed to find 12-ga shells, they wouldn't be taking out the pellets and replacing it with what-have-you. I doubt most people have the equipment, supplies and knowledge required to reload shotshells either. -
Meh, could be a change. Wasteland is pretty fun, I play it a lot, especially when I don't have several hours available for DayZ.
-
I think everyone would try to make their character as small and monkey-like as possible in order to present a smaller target...
-
Yup, and no loading rounds individually (which is generally a huge advantage, but annoyingly unrealistic).
-
It's kind of hard to cut your leg off with a butterfly knife. No swords. Machetes would make more sense and do the same job.
-
I already posted my opinion but I really don't want to see gimmicks like exploding ammunition in the mod or the standalone. Next we'd have survivors firing wasps out of crossbows like in Oddworld...
-
Actually it does model bullet penetration and you can shoot people out of certain armoured vehicles. What it doesn't model properly is armour... as far as I can tell, armour just means "lots of extra hit points". An RPG-7 can't take out a T-34 in one shot even though it could easily destroy a T-34 or a Tiger or any other WWII tank, but the same RPG-7 can take out an Abrams or a T-90 in a few shots, even though that would almost certainly not happen in real life. Not to mention the terrible Stryker armour with non-functional SLAT or the ERA that doesn't E.

Maybe they have crappy computers... sometimes it seems like my mouse is attached to my cursor with a rubber band. Last night I was in a convoy and despite the fact we had the same vehicles, the other guy ended up 1000m ahead of me because my frames were pretty low. Gah.

While their rounds perforate your aluminum body panels.
