  1. So am I, but only because I like the skin better than the default. In standalone there will be more customization, so killing people won't be the only way to change my character skin. Ushanka, please.

    Scoped Lee Enfield

Ehhhh, I dunno, it's not likely there's be any No.4 Mk.1 (T)s in Chernarus, and the military scope mount for the Enfield won't accept your average optical sight without extra bits and pieces. Would be nice to have a scoped Mosin since there are so many of those things being bubba'd every day. I wonder if the Russians like modding those rifles too... I don't think you'd be likely to find original WWII sniper rifles though, they cost!

    Ban Appeal US 843

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/111389-banned-from-us-843/ I can't read logs, all I know is 1. I wasn't hacking 2. I was banned for hacking Being the only server I've been banned from, on any game, at any time, for any reason, 843 left a bad taste in my mouth. Attitudes from certain players also sucked (*cough Brock cough*).
  5. I would like to see packs of dogs and/or wolves. They'd introduce some actual non-player risk when out in the wilderness, plus wolf howls sound cool. It would also allow people to make cool fur hats.

    Ban Appeal US 843

I was banned from this server for "hacking" as well after I shot at some CIA dudes and stole a helicopter. I wouldn't bother with it.
  7. Irons < Red dot < Scope That's my preference. An M14 ACOG would be oh-so-sweet.

    Bear Spray

As mentioned above, it's not just for bears, criminals use bear spray here fairly frequently. Good for incapacitating gas station clerks! I don't know how this would be implemented in-game, seems like a great thing for trolling fresh spawns but not much else... I wouldn't want to try it on an armed player.

Diving, Underwater Bases/Caves and Water Vehicle's

 Totally agree... I don't think diving should be in this game, never mind underwater vehicles and submarine bases. Smacks too much of The Spy Who Loved Me.

    Proper Kill Counter

Wouldn't want people to be able to look around stuff without turning their heads. Maybe it could be a menu option or a gear option if you find a camera like Craig suggested.

    Zombie killing Incentive

I wouldn't like to see any cognisant NPCs in DayZ.

My first play with TrackIR 5 in DayZ \o/

I've never considered trying FreeTrack. I should try it... I'm not really comfortable with my webcam being constantly on, though. I put frickin' electrical tape over the thing to stop gremlins spying on me.

    Make banditry be punished

Guy at the Stary tents! I'm so sorry I shot you and your two friends! Boo hoo hoo, I shall seek penance and wander the earth forevermore!

This would be cool, a way to take a picture of your current self without twisting your neck like an owl.

    Make banditry be punished

Good, pacifist bandits should wear a "happy" opera mask. The evil killing types should get a "sad" opera mask and be followed by haunting violin music wherever they go.
  16. My least favorite sidearm is the PDW. I happily drop them for a Glock (my favorite). The reason is those terrible, frequently misaligned sights on the PDW... ugh. The 1911 sucks, too, the sights are just awful and accuracy is a crapshoot. The Makarov is laughably weak. The Sa-61 on private hives is about the worst PvP weapon in the game, taking 24 chest shots to kill someone. I prefer the Revolver to the 1911. If you get into a pistol fight it's easier to get a headshot. I don't usually find M9s but I prefer the Glock. Glock is my favorite, it has some of the best sights and a good sized magazine.
  17. It's weird, because sniper rifles in Battlefield 3 apparently have slower muzzle velocities than the assault rifles! Every single muzzle velocity is totally incorrect compared to real life, and all of them are slower. The most powerful sniper is still slower than an AK in ArmA, so I agree with you, it's probably subjective... seems faster because the maps are smaller, or something. I just noticed one of the ArmA muzzle velocities I posted is also incorrect though, I'm used to seeing things in ft/s, not m/s, so I didn't realize until I converted it. The M24 should fire at about 790-800 m/s or 855 m/s depending on the load used, in ArmA it goes 900 m/s (the other 7.62 weapons should also fire at 790-800 or 855 m/s). I created a ticket on Dev-Heaven for this. :P I feel dumb now. Still, that's 710 yards compared to 1030. A round that takes 1 second to travel 700 yards will take about 1.7 seconds to travel to 1000 yards because it's slowing down all the while.

Tips for raiding North West Airfield??

Agreed, the only reason I went there was to kill people. I get most all my gear from deer stands or other players. ^_^

Tips for raiding North West Airfield??

Don't aggro zombies, watch for snipers, keep moving, have help. I stalked some guy at NWAF today, he was hiding in the forest and I saw him disconnect (zombies disappeared). A couple minutes later he jumped back in and looted the barracks, then ran along the hangars looking for loot and disconnected again. Next time he logged in I shot him a few times and stole his DMR, he was totally loot focused. There's not too much you can do to prevent unseen ghillie snipers taking you out, there's always gonna be that risk. Just hope no one's camping it.
  20. Right next to it, zoomed in. You can tell because he adjusts it. As for the above video... he doesn't say what range he's shooting at.
  21. Battlefield may try to be realistic, but it doesn't try nearly as hard as ArmA. I don't know why bullets feel faster in Battlefield, all I know is that the speeds in ArmA are pretty correct. Check out this video, about 30 seconds in: You can see the vapor trail from the bullet and how long it takes to hit after it is fired. 1030 yards is 941 meters.
  22. Are you serious? If you don't know anything about how real bullets travel, how can you say ArmA has unrealistic bullet travel, especially compared to... BATTLEFIELD?! Here are some in-game ArmA stats: ----------------Muzzle-------300m-------800m--- AKM-----------710-----------392--------148---- M16A2--------930-----------601--------295---- M24-----------900-----------679--------425---- Now for the approximate real-world values: ----------------Muzzle--------300m--------800m--- AKM----------710------------426----------157---- M16A2-------930------------633----------305---- M24----------900------------675----------374---- As you can see, ArmA is not perfect, but they're certainly not too far off. They're actually surprisingly close to the real-world, given the complexity of real ballistics calculations. ArmA uses a very simplified system but the results are still good. Note how slow the AKM rounds are going at 800m... in the 500 ft/s range. Very weak. That calculation is quite accurate, they've been measured with Doppler radar.
  23. On the other hand, it's helpful to have an AMR for PvP purposes, even self-defence. I agree though, only the Ghandis of DayZ wouldn't take out a ghillie with an AS50 given the opportunity, and I dislike coast snipers. By the way, too many Dashie avatars in one thread!
  24. I usually like bandits, until they open their mouths / open fire. I like the towels. I met a cool German one when I first started playing and we found ghillies and 50 cals and ambushed a convoy. Guess he just randomly decided to help some newspawn, God knows why. I've met plenty of douche heroes, too. I don't think hero/bandit means too much. Each personality is way too different for a three-skin choice-based system to accurately represent.
