    Commit Suicide with razors

I don't want to be an enabler.

    AA-12 in dayz?

I can tell you right now... pretty much any scenario in Cherno usually ends with "and you heard the bang of an Enfield".

    Commit Suicide with razors

Uh, no, people in real life wouldn't slit their wrists just because they happened to wash ashore in a town called Kamenka.

    Fishing

Good idea, one should be able to fish off docks and such. I don't think people should be able to take fish from any body of water, though. There should also be some skill involved...

    Is it worth buying DayZ?

I dunno, I remember when the original Xbox died and $50 games were selling for $0.99 a pop. To the OP: I'd buy it. But I tend to be wasteful of money. Not that it's a waste, not at all. :D

    AA-12 in dayz?

Ya... I'm not convinced the military uses it at all. That's a quote from the guy who makes the damn things. I don't want to have highly unusual and rare weapons in the game. It makes no sense to have this thing in Chernarus. If we include the AA-12, we may as well include the XM8 series as well, or an OICW, or even one of those flechette firing ACR prototypes. This is supposed to be a realistic game, and that... thing... doesn't belong in it. /done
  7. Yes, long sleeves, please. It makes absolutely no sense why some guy would wear something without sleeves in the Chernarussian cold. I don't know why anyone would want to keep the short sleeves.

    AA-12 in dayz?

Haven't handled one, but 16+ pounds loaded seems more "elephant rifle" than "shotgun"... if it was a common weapon I wouldn't care if it was stuck into the game, but it's not... at all. I'm positive no one actually uses it for police work or military duties either.
  9. This wouldn't work very well because a scope designed for a powerful rifle would be inappropriate for a cartridge that drops as quickly as a pistol round... I wouldn't want a 10x scope on an MP5 or what-have-you. Changing attachments is already going to be implemented in the standalone... not sure how close to ArmA 3 it will be.

    AA-12 in dayz?

I don't collect figurines, I'm here for the show. I don't see the point in the AA-12... it's cool and all, but I don't understand where it fits into a modern military situation. Shotguns in Iraq were used for breaching doors, clearing houses and firing beanbag rounds to disperse crowds. The AA-12 is bulky, heavy and most likely slow-handling, and it probably isn't as reliable as a Mossberg or Benelli when using special ammunition. Atchisson was working on this design since the 70s, and it still hasn't caught on with... anyone at all! The same thing happened with one of the other three well-known full-auto shotguns, the Pancor Jackhammer. On the other hand, some sources say the USAS-12 sold well in Asia... All of the above doesn't even matter to me - I don't want to see it in the game because barely any AA-12s have been produced. AKMs, M16s, even M14s, those have all been produced in the millions... AA-12s... no. Difference is that Saiga's are actually quite common, both in the US and in Russia!

    AA-12 in dayz?

@Snilex: I don't care about it being overpowered, I care about it being... stupid. Who even uses it? Pretty much no one except that annoying bald guy on Future Weapons... I heard Blackwater had a few... some testing models... that's it. You're not going to find one in Chernarus, and you wouldn't find one in the US either. Silly weapon.

    Wondering your opinions...

    I wouldn't worry about it.

    AA-12 in dayz?

Lolno. I don't think it's realistically modelled... seemed way too easy to take out people at extended ranges in singleplayer. The sights suck too. And "The Expendables" isn't exactly what DayZ is aiming to emulate...
  16. I agree, this is a zombie (okay, infected for you pedants out there) game, and I am never killed by zombies these days. Never ever! They don't even present any sort of danger by themselves. The only time I try to avoid aggroing them is if I think another player might be watching.

    DayZ standalone - Finding crutches

Damn, nice idea. Hoverounds! Crutches? Ehhh... I think most players would just jump off a cliff and run back to their gear at that point. Morphine fixing a broken leg isn't ideal either, though.
  18. Glasers. Hollow points are illegal in New Jersey, except for police. I read somewhere it's a $1000 fine for every hollow point bullet they find in your gun... as well as any weapons charges. For some reason it's illegal to import hollowpoint handgun ammunition into Canada... so most boxes say "For use in rifles and carbines only". It's legal to possess or use in a handgun once in the country. I don't understand stupid laws.

    Make banditry be punished

 I don't have any qualms about shooting people on site or stalking numpties that talk in side chat, but I draw the line at betraying or pretending to be friendly or shooting unarmed people. Each to their own. I think we have a fair idea of the general player view on the "make banditry be punished" issue.

    Scoped Lee Enfield

True, but ArmA doesn't even model that for the current sniper rifles, so I think it's beyond the scope of the mod.

Godmode Hack or Just Terrible Shooting?

5.45mm should kill in 5 shots on a player with full health.
  22. Funny you say that, since it was designed specifically for civilian use! Just a bolt rifle... Guilty.

    Scoped Lee Enfield

Some people... time... too much. Hmmm, well I suppose the Winchester doesn't fit the setting either, and I don't mind it, as well as a couple other rifles. Invasion 1944 has a scoped Lee in the game which could be added with permission.
  24. Random thought... it would be nice to be able to make a "scout rifle" in the standalone. The "scout rifle" is a concept proposed by the late Col. Jeff Cooper, intended to be a jack-off-all-trades rifle. Basic specifications pertinent to gameplay are: -.308 caliber -low-powered forward mounted optic -ghost ring iron sights -light weight -bolt-action Seems to me like it would make a good survivor's rifle (also I just think they're cool). Here are some factory interpretations:

    Scoped Lee Enfield

The sniper version was specially fitted and had a scope mounted on it by Holland & Holland of London. Not as likely to pop up in an ex-Soviet republic... The actual scope used in WWII was only 3.5x. (Most scopes used in WWII were low-powered, the Germans largely used 4x scopes, the US M1903A4 only had a 2.2x scope, Soviets had 4x or 3.5x, etc)
