    CZ 550

I find it fairly often as well, definitely more often than M24s.

    CZ 550

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/50872-cz550-vs-m24/ In sum: -no mil dots to calculate range and estimate drop -can't store ammo in DMR mags That's basically it.

    Bolt-Action animation

I remember when all CoDs were set in the 1940s... sigh.

    Bolt-Action animation

The bolt animation for the Lee-Enfield was incorporated in the Invasion 1944 mod. Ideally, all bolt rifles would have bolt animations.

Can I pick up an Alice Pack?

Usually it's nearby objects on the ground that interfere with the ability to pick a backpack up... you shouldn't need to empty the bag itself, or your inventory.

Can I pick up an Alice Pack?

Uh... yup... if you can't pick it up, remove all the other nearby objects and place them somewhere else, then retry.

    Melee system

Exactly, not too scarce, but hopefully less available than at present. More advanced melee systems are better because they allow player skill to trump superior weapons and/or numbers.

    M4A1 cco VS M4A3 cco

About the accuracy, I just checked the configs - false (unless I'm missing something  quite possible, me being me). -M16: dispersion = 0.0001 (0.00175 in full auto) M4A1: dispersion = 0.00175, same for full auto M4A3: dispersion = 0.00175, same for full auto The M4A3 doesn't handle faster (dexterity) than the M4A1 either.

    M4A1 cco VS M4A3 cco

Hmmm, that's strange, (IRL) vertical fore grips don't necessarily make a gun easier to shoot... it's personal preference and depends on the situation. I'm gonna look at the configs and check this out.
  11. Rarity = very common, of course
  12. By the way, if an "Obrez" (sawn-off Nagant) is ever added, one guy on YouTube has chronographed his and it was only going 1,350 ft/s with normal 148-grain ammo. Only about 600 ft-lbs muzzle energy with a .30-cal bullet, not a very impressive weapon except in terms of recoil, noise and muzzle flash. In DayZ it would do about 1,800 blood damage.

  15. I wouldn't call it a nerf - before that, a Makarov did much more damage than an M9 (2000 compared to 1389) and a 1911 did 4500 damage, over 3 times as much as a 9mm and more than even a 5.45x39mm! They made a sensible change to the damages. Now a Makarov does the same as a 9mm, and a .45 round does only 1.5 times as much damage. That's not a nerf, that's product improvement.
  16. Nuh uh uh, in real life it's a rifle - in DayZ it's a shotgun that fires slugs. It even ejects empty 12-gauge hulls. If it was modelled as a .44 rifle, it wouldn't be doing 3,500 damage like all the shotgun slugs, it would be doing maybe 2,000 damage at the most.

    A question about item damage

Well I'm pretty sure no one apart from the devs has a clue ^_^ everything else would be conjecture. It might well... I hope it's handled realistically, maybe there could be a certain chance of disabling it but not automatically every time. Here's a pic from Vietnam, this M16 was hit by a 12.7mm DShK round and knocked out of the guy's hands. Luckily he wasn't hit! Stuff like that could shatter stocks, damage internal and external parts and cause jams. Whether the rifle keeps working or not... that depends. I don't think many people have actually tested firing bullets at guns and seeing how much damage it would do, and how often.

    A question about item damage

I don't think shooting a gun out of someone's hands would be a very effective tactic. I've seen it done once... on YouTube. Some guy trying to commit suicide and the police sniper shot his gun away. Awesome stuff. As for whether it would disable a gun (in real life), it depends where it hits. There are AKs with bullet holes in the stock, obviously those would keep on working unless the operator was hit as well. Agent Jerry Dove had his 9mm hit by a .223 round in the FBI Miami shootout and it was disabled.

    Update game!

DayZ Commander? Edit: here's the reinforcements patch to 1.62, needs 1.60 first. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=17252

    DayZ Standalone - crosshair

This is true, but the current crosshairs allow 200-metre snap shots... way too helpful. Some people can just shoulder their rifle and point it like a skeet shooter, and they can be surprisingly accurate at close ranges. All about balance. Personally I prefer no crosshair since the middle of the screen gives an okay idea of where to aim as well.

How to use XBOX wired controller?

You'd also need a zoom, free look, left and right leaning keys, strafe left and right, hold breath, channel switch, fire mode, binoculars, night vision, etc. I suppose you could do it, but you'd be horribly handicapped against people using a mouse and keyboard.
  24. It would be nice to be able to slash tires using the hunting knife. No, most tires don't explode like the famous Youtube video.

    Melee system

Meh, I'm not really talking about long-lasting duels here, that's not the focus of the game, just making hand-to-hand combat a bit more complicated (fun?) than simply spamming the mouse button.
