  2. I hope there will be bullet penetration in the Standalone. Hopefully the optimization and clearing out of code they didn't need didn't remove this feature or other similar details.

    Hatchet and the main weapon.

    You could punch through a ballistic vest with a spike tomahawk (spike side only, obviously), good luck with plates though. :rolleyes: I'm extremely leery of throwing weapons, even tomahawk throwing is usually done at specified ranges to get the right number of rotations, it would be very difficult to throw and stick an axe into an actual person and kill them just like that. Throwing axes were always disposable weapons thrown en masse at the enemy before charging in with your main weapon.

    These people exist, and they will go so far as to try to murder you if they think you aren't taking it seriously enough. Take my word for it...

  6. No taming wolves, wolves are freaky. Dog companions is fine. They'd need to work on the animals a bit more, the AI dogs I've tried never seem to sprint, they just slowly lope along, and wild boars go like 5 miles an hour at the most... I want a rancor.

    Trains

    Most freight trains run on diesel, there haven't been any coal-powered trains for quite some time now... the last time I saw a coal-powered train must have been when I was about 8.

    Ground vehicles actually can't go much beyond 130 km/h, engine limitation. There are some mods with special ground values or boosters on the cars, though.

    Wait, why would there be a ghost train every night? Who's running it? Denzel Washington? I just don't see why trains would be running in a zombie apocalypse... besides, a diesel locomotive would take hundreds of jerry cans to fill up.
  10. Shotguns totally suck in this game, which sucks. First off, they could start with a more realistic pellet spread (as far as I know the large spread is engine thing and can't be fixed by modders), but after that I'm not sure what they could do. The pellets already do a proper amount of damage compared to other rounds. The slugs are underpowered and should do a lot more damage. The underpowered slugs may be a combination of them not being able to penetrate ballistic vests and Bohemia's damage calculations. I don't know why else they would put the damage as low as it is. And also the double barrel sight picture just sucks, no bead or anything and you can't "point" the barrel.

    Come on, all ya have to do is hold down a key, it's not like you're actually running the 8km or so to the NWAF, your fingers shouldn't be tired at all. And 8km isn't even that far, I walked twice that much yesterday. :emptycan:

  13. Weapons, ballistics, wounding, etc are what I care about the most. I want that as real as possible. I don't really care too much about other stuff as long as it's not too far out there. I don't need my character actually taking several days to die of thirst.

    Maybe when you go into combat mode adrenaline could kick in. I'm pretty sure someone would find the energy to sprint if there were bullets headed their way.
  16. I don't want to see heroic Soviet statues of the mods and devs, but I like the plaque idea. Maybe a separate plaque for each? Or one big plaque? Or signs in Cyrillic? I like the food idea best though.

    Bandits only campfire

    The OP has a point. I'm also kind of annoyed of people coming into the Bandit Campfire and saying that shooting well-armed players on sight is low and dirty. That's absolutely ridiculous. Apparently we're supposed to hold them up in a creative role-playing fashion.
  19. I honestly don't understand people who would pay more than the full game actually costs just to spawn with a bit more stuff. It makes no sense to me... donations are one thing, pay to win is another. I don't really consider these payments "donations".

    I hope it stays that way and all the great can kerfuffle dies down. The complainers do have a point, but it's a really minor one and they should try to look past it. Some of those rants...
  21. Ho hum, yes, it is a problem especially if there are going to be tons of public hives. On the other hand you sacrifice some of the meta-gaming and trading aspects if you restrict characters to one server, although I haven't really missed changing servers when playing on private hives.

    Off topic/vehicles

    Vehicles vs foot. I use vehicles when I find or steal them but consider them kinda disposable. I don't bother fixing them up myself. As a solo player I don't usually need to be anywhere in particular so I don't really care if I have a car or not. Just makes you a bigger target for the most part.

    I ain't downloading this just yet... staying on 1.7.6 until I find and document all those cans. Or until servers update. <_<
