Not to mention people! Two birds, one stone.... heh. I'll be annoyed if they take bullet penetration out of the game, though. Rocket said they were taking out a lot of unnecessary code... that made me worry about bullet penetration and air resistance...

Apparently you can be shot 8 times by an AKM at 600m and survive...

If you could make a Makeshift Gun/Melee Weapon in DayZ with no limitations..

Some guy on another forum made this club from a couple pipe fittings and a sledgehammer handle: B) -
Yup, it would be easily capable of taking out an elephant in one shot. It just seemed kind of lazy to me... they were VERY specific about the .338's muzzle velocity, they even used the exact British military load and got it right to the nearest foot-per-second, but they didn't bother changing the damage or penetration whatsoever... If they had done it properly it would do about 15,500 blood damage, so it would still be a one-shot kill within a few hundred meters and very damaging at longer ranges. Edit: Actually I'm bored, so... 000m: 15,466 damage 200m: 13,995 damage 400m: 12,657 damage 600m: 11,450 damage 800m: 10,360 damage 1000m: 9,369 damage 1200m: 8,477 damage 1400m: 7,667 damage

That's exactly the reaction I'd be looking for.

I do have a couple problems with the Accuracy International: -non-functional mil dots -uses .50 BMG damage value Apart from that though it's perfectly fine, I don't have a problem with long-range sniping or one-shot kills, I just have a problem with weapons I consider to be silly given the setting.
-
Honestly I don't even really agree with helicopters being in the game... Please tell me what's wrong with making the "weapon to aspire to" a bolt-action .338 Lapua Magnum with a bipod and a 5-25x scope....

Pony. Just to tick people off.

Is the UK even using it at the moment, or are they still using the AW50? As far as I know the UK hasn't even deployed its .50 cals to Afghanistan, they've been using .338s instead, and they currently hold the record for "longest range sniper kill" with that caliber. I don't want to restrict play styles. I said replace it with rifles more likely to be found. Wanna snipe at 1000m+ ranges? Use a .300 Win Mag or whatever European equivalent, tons of people have them and shoot at extended ranges with them, and they'd be more likely to be carried around by survivors. We could add in chainsaws, too, they're pretty common and they exist in real life, but in my opinion that would be absolutely ridiculous... same with .50 cals.
-
Would there technically be .50-cals somewhere in the country? Probably. Would you see people roaming the hills with them? Hell no. In the game, there's no way to properly represent the real-world discomfort and irrationality of choosing a .50-caliber rifle as a survival weapon, so people will choose them every time. And it will make the game that much stupider.
-
I still don't understand why people are so protective of their .50 cals... I can't even find a single picture of an AS50 being used in combat, anywhere. M107s, yes, but not AS50s. Given the setting, they're stupid, yup, stuuuuuuuuupidooooooo. I don't think they belong in this game because [a] no one is going to lug around a 30-lb rifle in a post-apocalyptic world to get those 1000m shots on random dudes and they're not common weapons in the first place, and they're definitely not common in Eastern European backwaters. Why give people the tools to turn a "realistic" zombie survival game (sim) into a military-themed WarZ-style deathmatch? Replace them with a more realistic 1000m rifle, there are plenty to choose from, Mausers, Accuracy International, SAKO, custom builds... Why not make the top sniper a TRG-42? Less than half the weight of an M107, relatively popular in Europe and North America as well as among several militaries, and still powerful enough to take out any creature that walks the face of the earth. Heheheheh.

DAYZ:SA Zombies becoming real threat - ideas
-Gews- replied to VooDooator's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Stands for zombie, of course, which means "a hypnotized person bereft of consciousness and self-awareness, yet ambulant and able to respond to surrounding stimuli". Undead doesn't equal zombie (pedantism for the win!) -

I'm sorry to say that a rifle that does 5.6 times as much bugged damage as an M107 and that can kill people by hitting their toe, is, in fact, overpowered.

DAYZ:SA Zombies becoming real threat - ideas
-Gews- replied to VooDooator's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
People seem averse to including different types of zombies. Maybe any zombie could have a chance of screaming, or perhaps every single zombie could start shrieking. The little grunting noises aren't all that scary... -
DAYZ:SA Zombies becoming real threat - ideas

-make them run indoors -make them able to sprint -make them able to grab hold of players -make them do more damage -give them better pathfinding -make them spot players from further away -make players who've been running for miles slow down from fatigue -introduce better wounding system so you have to hit them in the right places -
Look at the zombies from any movie with "runners"... they're extremely dangerous and would be terrifying. The DayZ zombies are a joke right now and are literally no threat whatsoever unless someone is shooting at you or your legs are broken. If a group of zombies runs at you, you should be running too, and they should also be able to catch you if you are out of breath.

Simplified, unrealistic or non-existent ballistics and firearms-related stuff...

Well this should be interesting, I wonder what type of guns they'll be including. I'd be shocked if it did... this isn't 'Nam...

I agree it would make sense from a gameplay perspective, but I don't see anyone doing that in real life... A shotgun is big! There was a Witness Protection style "whippet" offered a while ago, I forget by who but the picture comes up when I Google it: That thing probably still weighs 5.5-6 lbs and is two feet long, and they only used it because it could be hid under a jacket. I just don't see someone carrying a rifle and then carrying a freakin' shotgun on top of that! In their bag, fine, but as a sidearm it's way too Arnold for me.

A.C.E-Z?

You don't need a program, you can do most everything yourself. Be wary of "DayZ FPS boosters", they can be key-stealers in disguise.
-
They most definitely can.

Run around people blasting "It's Raining Men" in direct... boom, and you make a newspawn's day as well.

I usually use the ArmA editor. Heheheheh. Alternatively, downgrade to a version when they included singleplayer, or press Alt+E on the main screen to access the confusing and finicky 3D editor.
