Right now if you shoot someone in the leg with any reasonably powerful gun, BOOM BROKEN LEG. I like the idea but they need to tone down on the leg breaking and add in a couple other injury levels, like a relatively shallow wound or a more serious "flesh" wound that misses bone... It would also be cool if you hit an artery and there was an animation of blood spraying half a foot in the air as your character quickly bleeds out. This would also affect survivors' ability to escape zombies... people would have to be a lot more careful if they walk with a limp, especially if zombies are going to have improved pathfinding and the ability to run indoors.

Shooting for teh lulz already occurs... Go watch videos of people making varmints explode at several hundred yards... even a prairie dog is far cuter and less bothersome than some raggedy-ass "survivor" running around with a rifle and taking vital supplies for himself. So - keep making those "survivors" fail to live up to their name...

But what if I want to role-play as a highly intelligent cold-blooded psycophath completely unaffected by human emotions? Animated gif for Orlok.

Ow, damn! I didn't notice this little tidbit the first time 'round... Ack! Don't do it, man! It's the coward's way out!

You can't really do anything about it, I can't think of any solution which would work without changing the entire game. I guess you need to find a private hive which is full of like-minded people.

Toilet paper works okay for when I nick my finger, but I haven't been infected yet because I don't wipe my ass and then use it to bandage my wounds. I haven't checked to see how toilet paper works on deep hatchet cuts or rifle wounds yet.

Oh, dang, I remember who this guy is now. I knew him as "blackface Robert Downey Junior avatar". He only had 112 posts... not exact thread-worthy.

Heheh, make Christopher Dorners out of the buggers. I like it.

^ Anyways I don't think a hot air balloon seems like a very practical transportation method in a zombie apocalypse, especially for all the non-hot air balloon operators out there. I mean, hot air balloons are typically only designed and used for fun these days. Look what happened to the S. A. Andrée expedition. If I had my druthers I'd seriously consider taking out all forms of airborne transport, perhaps the occasional light helicopter or civilian Cessna.

SVD Camouflage vs M40A3 Camouflage.
-Gews- replied to LancerG2's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I prefer the SVD for practical uses, I play solo and wander around the map, and I need a rifle which is also good at those unexpected close and medium range encounters. The SVD works great in any reasonable range engagement up to about 700m - the only time you'd really need more magnification and accuracy is if you're camping... -
Coincidence? Heheheh.

Yes, I'm aware of machine guns requiring barrel changes  but the notion already-overloaded infantry are going to carry spare barrels just in case they'd prefer a slightly shorter one for close-quarters is ridiculous... I really don't want to see ridiculous "upgrades" like in Battlefield where you can stick a "heavy barrel" on a sniper rifle which should already have a heavy barrel...

Ouf, I'm not a fan of the weapon customization to be honest... at least, I'm not a fan of what I think it would turn out to be like. I already don't like being able to switch optics instantly in ArmA 3... customization also usually needs tacticool and those types of weapons aren't what I wanna see... also why would anyone spend the time and effort to change a barrel in a combat situation???

He went easy on you, 150 years ago you'd be shot for cheating in a game. 250 years ago and you could be hung up as carrion.

No thanks... I don't even know what songs the Walking Dead plays but I doubt I'd like them, and I doubt the producers would look kindly on a game stealing their OST. DayZ standalone needs a lot of 60s surf rock, funk, blues, some good old-timey Kentucky bluegrass and a fair amount of diva pop.

Oh, that reminds me, depending on how they are implemented, crowbars could possibly be used to get into underground bases. On several occasions I've used one to get into someone's underground base... smelled like ass if I'm honest. Your suggestions seem good... not sure about missing limb zombies, but people have been wanting more use from the crowbar. "Eucalyptus honey" made me chuckle.

I think PvE should be high-risk, the game is about zombies but no one with the least bit of skill is ever killed by them. Running zombies should be terrifying! Sneaking and stealth should be rewarded - that, and anti-Z teamwork. Go in by yourself and try to Rambo it? Face a large chance of dying.

I haven't played DayZ for almost a couple weeks now... no real opportunity to sit down and mess around for a few hours. This suggestion would also likely result in tons of sleeping bodies all over the map... I don't agree with the sleeping thing, because you're totally vulnerable. In real life you'd actually be there, able to wake up and react, this would be like some weird "in stasis" version... I kind of think players should remain in the game (sitting down pose?) for perhaps 1 minute if they log out, that would probably result in a few unfair deaths, but it would be worth it to pretty much totally stop combat logging. On the other hand... I'd be pissed if a hacker showed up and my character was stuck in-game for one whole minute...

Ya, at the muzzle it does 889 damage but ten feet away and it will do slightly less... 50 yards and even less again... I don't know exactly how hit locations like legs alter damage, and there's a fair chance of hitting someone else's weapon too. My first thread on here was about surviving 3 Makarov mags at point blank range

It is pretty damn hard to lose them. Ain't nobody got time to run to the nearest tree. When you're killed by a zombie in a zombie survival game, you know the fuckers need to be nerfed, and fast.

First off: -You wouldn't find M107s in Eastern European countries -You wouldn't find AS50s anywhere When would you realistically have a mile-long line of sight on a person? And why would you try to shoot them from that distance? Puh-lease, any serious hunter isn't using a .50 BMG. Anyone using one is doing it for shits and giggles, and that's fine. And no, hunters won't walk miles with a 30-lb .50 BMG, they load their quads in the truck and use those to transport their shit... It's not stupid at all, go pick up a splitting maul, then imagine 5 of those. That's the weight, there's no arguing the laws of physics. And talking about "unwieldy tools", the M107 is almost 5 feet long. Yes, you could do it, but it would be like using a supertanker to go jet skiing. Nobody's answered my question yet - what's wrong with replacing it with a Lapua? Can take out a man in one shot at nearly 2,500 meters (it's been done), powerful enough to kill an elephant, half the weight of a .50 BMG, popular with various militaries and target shooters in Europe and North America, and over 5,000 ft-lbs of muzzle energy... ?

NPCS in Practice - Stealthgaming Australia
-Gews- replied to Calanen's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Sounds fun! NPCs are never going to gain traction with the crowd here - they could be wonderful, but they don't fit "our" (speaking for the people who think like me or quote Rocket on the subject) vision of what DayZ should be. It's like telling a Muslim he should try bacon - mmmf, delicious! Not gonna fly...
