    AA-12 in dayz?

The difficult part is actually making things... "authentic". Just random examples... a guy with a gun in real life can be very dangerous. Even if he only has one bullet. People made do back in the times of flintlocks and such, and they were worth their weight despite only having one shot and being totally innacurate. In the game right now a guy with a modern semi-automatic pistol like the Mak is pretty much a joke...

    Grenade damage

Eeeeeee... I like the sound of the grenades in ACE, if you're not deafened by the blast you can hear the fragments bouncing off walls and such. I'd like that to be implemented in DayZ - just a simple change in sound can make a big difference. I don't think ACE actually models individual fragments but I haven't checked. The real-world differences are interesting... Wikipedia says the RGD-5 contains 110 grams of TNT and a liner that produces around 350 fragments. It says lethal radius is 3m and injuries out to 15m. It's a bit lighter than the M67 and can apparently be thrown a few meters further. The M67 has 6.5 oz (184 grams) of C4 and has a lethal radius of 5m and injuries out to 15, similar. C4 is a bit more powerful than TNT... about 1.2-1.3 times in blast pressure. No idea how many individual fragments are typical. In the game they're the exact same and no fragments are modelled. The British L109 / HG 85 has 155 gram RDX and TNT filling and will fragment into 1800-2000 very small pieces. This probably contributes to the low safety radius since the fragments would lose velocity fast. Lethal radius is 10m for unprotected enemies, 5m for armoured troops. Throwing range is about 30m. I wish all games could be that complicated. Oh, daydreams, daydreams. Remember when people had to do this shit analog instead of letting a computer work it out? Pre-computer computer games...

    AA-12 in dayz?

Lee-Enfields are common. They made millions of them. They should have made a Mosin but it was easier to use the Lee-Enfield from Takistan. The Winchester I don't get, but lever-action rifles are not uncommon, even in Europe. Uberti even makes an 1866 to this day which is relatively popular for use in CAS. They probably wouldn't be in Chernarus. Fully automatic limited-production prototype shotguns not used by any military or police force should not be in DayZ! I don't understand why that is hard to grasp. There are slight niggles with the existing weapons, true, but how does that justify adding even more outrageous weapons? If the AA-12 was used by the US military I'd say fine, go ahead, but it's not used by anyone and you don't find them anywhere. How many shooters have an AA-12? I don't even know how people can take the suggestion seriously... private hives, cool, vanilla DayZ? Nonononononononono.

    Odd Shotgun Ammo ...

Says "10Rnd. Slug" yet the description says it only has 8 rounds. The only ammunition for the M1014 should be 8 rounds.

    recommendation

I'm guessing people will probably tell you to buy parts separately and build it instead of buying a pre-made one.

    That's really odd.

    Grenade damage

Both the RGD-5 and M67 have 4 second fuses. The M67 and RGD-5 have a direct hit value of 20, translating to 22220 blood damage. Indirect hit is 18, translating to 17998 blood damage, and the indirect hit range is 7 metres (23 feet). That means it does 22220 damage at 0 metres, and 17998 damage at 7 metres. At 14 metres it will do 8999 damage. At 21 metres it will do 4500 damage. Damage continues degrading linearly out to the maximum range of 28 metres.

    The Bandit Recon Skin

Maybe he has a low-resolution monitor? I'm sure there are people playing on refurbished Commodore 64s. It's the German KSK scout skin, by the way.

    AA-12 in dayz?

Zombies aren't realistic, that can't be helped. What can be helped is not adding in AA-12s, XM8s, Avro Arrows, Hattori Hanzo swords and kung-fu fighting systems. If people want an AA-12 they can put it in their private hives and leave the rest of us to enjoy a more sane experience. Because weapons should try to reflect the setting and Rocket's "authentic" goal for the game, not adding in practically non-existant stuff because it's cool and it's in Battlefield.

    AA-12 in dayz?

That's all good and fine, except AKs are native to the region and there are literally tens upon tens of millions of them. The AA-12 hasn't been adopted by anyone and there could easily be only a few dozen. Statistics are not available. Why would they make more if they have no sales? They don't need many for demonstration purposes. There aren't going to be "warehouses full" of AA-12s, I don't buy it. There aren't going to be warehouses full of any unusual prototype weapons.
  13. Nanny always said to chew 72 times before swallowing. I'm all for this. Wasn't there an early 20-th century health nut who had a little jingle about the virtues of a good chew? Something along the lines of "Masticate before you... mastication... rejuvenation..." Hell, can't remember it now.
  14. I'm looking at you, Gews. Well, I would be looking at you, Gews, if you stole my name... :emptycan:
  15. I was going as "Rainbow Dash" or "Goose", with the forum name "Gews", but BalotaBuddies requires that one's in-game name match the name on their forum and in their Teamspeak, so a change to "Gews" was necessary. Overly specific situation? Yes  but still...

Weapons I Want in DayZ SA

Now they're switching the M24 to .300 Win Mag, so it was a fortunate decision to go with the long action.

Weapons I Want in DayZ SA

Wow this thread grew. Off the top of my head: -Mosin-Nagants -rare spawn of Nagant gas seal revolver -Tokarev -somewhat rare PPSh-41 -.300 Winchester Magnum bolt action, don't really care, something like a GAP, HS Precision, or a Surgeon (or European equivalent) -more scoped hunting rifles, .243 Tikka, Browning A-Bolt, SAKO 85... more stuff like that -Russian rifle, maybe T-5000, Lobaev -a dangerous game bolt rifle in a big caliber (.375 H&H maybe) with a 2.5x or 3x scope -scout rifle, ~3.5x scope -change the .45 revolver to a .357 -Yarygin PYa -PSM -obrez -AK-74M, RPK -Tantal -PKM -AK-105 -Saiga-12 -RPG-7V
  18. Because people like the switch things up. What if more than one person would like to have the name Jimmy Rustles? Only one could be the true Jimmy Rustles. Many poor souls would be forced to take inferior names, like Jimmeh Rustles or Jimmee Rustles, or God forbid, J1mmy Rustl3s. I don't swap names at random, but in some cases it is necessary. I also like naming myself whatever I choose without having to add numbers to the end or change the spelling. I don't mind some form of easily accessed player identifier but I wouldn't like it to be the screen name.
  19. People take all the vehicles and hide them in remote places. They're there, somewhere.

When is it Okay to KoS?

From what I understood, the helmet will only protect against melee attacks like the hatchet or crowbar. I hope I understood right!

    NEED HELP

Hello everyone. Okay, here is my problem: I haven't got a chance to play the game, yet I have owned ArmA for about a month and have been trying to get it to work on my computer. I have Windows 8 and I bought Combined Operations from Amazon. I have downloaded everything I thought I had to. I also got DayZ Commander and installed everything, but I get this message when I go join a server: adm addon misc, so on and so forth. Can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I really want to play this mod.

    [SA] Prevent meta-gaming

Bahaha, this reminded me of that scene in Jurassic Park III where the guy sees abandoned vending machines and starts counting his change, asking if anyone has an extra few quarters, and then the practical guy just comes and kicks the front glass in.
  23. There are already some bloodstains in ArmA that appear on players faces, arms, legs, body, if they take a certain amount of damage there. Dead players can have large holes in their face if they've been shot in the head. Of course those are pretty basic and low-res. I assume it's just a matter of changing the textures to make something more visible and realistic. If footprints could be implemented, I assume blood trails could be as well.
