    S&W 500 & fanning the old revolver

I would argue its practical uses include gathering publicity for S&W, allowing people to boast they've got "le biggest pistol" and perhaps stopping a charging grizzly. Out of interest though, if this were to be included in ArmA (with the 8-3/4-in barrel) it would do anywhere from 7,500 to 9,100 damage (resisting temptation to make over 9000 comment).

    Dual Wielding (not guns)

Flashlight and gun makes sense, no reason to oppose. Gun and knife, maybe, although I think it would be extremely difficult to kill someone with a knife, gun and hatchet FTW.
  3. Agreed, it would be hard to do it "right"... IRL people only set up deadly traps for good reasons (like to guard their meth lab!), in games... not so much.

    S&W 500 & fanning the old revolver

7.62x25mm Tokarev, can penetrate vests with protection levels less than NIJ-IIIA. When the .500 Magnum first came out a few years back, the "Violence Policy Ccenter" (read "Gun Control Group") termed it the "Vest Buster" under the assumption it would be used by criminals to punch through police vests... Some company jumped on the opportunity and produced a new vest, which they had tested to be capable of defeating the .500 S&W. The vest's protection level? Equivalent to NIJ-IIIA. Doesn't need to be a big boy to zip through armour.
  5. I always complain about this, one of the two reasons I want all .50s removed... The mod devs are already considering adding wind drift to weapons http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/130854-wind-and-ballistics-system/ Hopefully the SA is also thinking along the same lines.

    S&W 500 & fanning the old revolver

It would be fun to see but I wouldn't want to see it. -not to be found in Eastern Europe or other "Chernarusy" places -suitable for stopping bears, not so much people -doesn't fit my view of "realistic" or as Rocket prefers "authentic" weapons choices Speaking from an IRL perspective I think this would blow right through a man and perhaps a couple people behind him as well. I'd rather have a revolver which weighed less, had far less recoil and was still effective. I don't think a revolver can be much more effective than a .357 with a 125-gr hollowpoint. If I recall correctly the Texas Rangers weren't even pleased with the (perceived) stopping power of their .45 autos compared to their old .357 wheelguns, which was partly why they went to .357 SIG, and .45 is generally held in high esteem. I do like attempting to mod weapons like this just for fun and messing around in the editor, though.
  8. Head: wide-brimmed hat with a decent crown Upper body: any warm jacket with lots of pockets, maybe oilskin, 3/4 length Legs: jeans, blue Boots: any decent hiking boots, no steel toe
  9. I'm sure advanced "bouncing betty" mines from the 2030s will be quite common in a present-day Eastern European zombie apocalypse... nah. The tripwire grenade idea is good, and the punji stick pit idea is good. There obviously should be a way to spot them. They should also be only able to set up in certain areas, you can't string a tripwire or dig a spike pit in the middle of a concrete road, etc. If you put a grenade trap inside a house as opposed to some bushes in the forest it would also be easier to spot.

    Makarov Humiliations

My best Makarov kill was when a guy with an M249 was running through Guglovo and made an ill-timed vault over a fence as he was trying to kill me... "pop, headshot".

    Standalone Armory

Meh, if they don't make one people are probably just going to try to port stuff back into ArmA 2. A shooting range mission would be nice.

Which server runs the oldest dayz version

A lot of people say it's the best flavour - sometimes it comes with a free Makarov.
  13. If it ain't broken, don't fix it... Well actually there's a lot that needs to be fixed with the mod, but I don't want extra things polluting the "pure" experience. Leave that to the private hives. Not to bash private hives, a change of pace or new experience can be nice. They are definitely working on things.

    Wind and ballistics system

In real life you can feel the wind on your body or judge from other objects... I'm sure there will be some kind of system introduced to judge it (not like some kind of human Kestrel 4500, but a close enough guess), otherwise Balliztic has a very good point. I thought ACE did it well with the coloured arrows (heheh notice an ACE theme here?). I don't have a problem with icons that are only on-screen when you press a key-combo to view them. I read somewhere that British snipers once used IRA flags to judge wind speed and were able to make hits out to over 1,400 yards... now that's impressive.

    Noob Bandits

I had a fun kill today, I've been trying a different play style lately, wandering around the more remote Northern areas without any real goal and not caring about loot... I passed up a pristine Huey today. Don't run into as many people in those areas. Anyways I looked over Novy Sobor from the hills to the North and noticed a bandit running along the road about 400m away, lay down and shot him. He ran into a cluster of bushes and trees and I watched him start heading up into the trees. I decided to change position and circle round to wait for him to run uphill to try to escape / flank me, and as soon as I got into my new position behind some rocks a couple hundred meters up the hill, as expected he suddenly appeared running straight at me out of some trees less than 30 meters away and I got some extra bandages and a tin of pasta (was needing those). I haven't killed a lot of people lately.
  18. Damage is directly related to velocity. Half velocity = half damage, etc. You can't hit anything at long range with those weapons anyways, so damage reduction over distance doesn't matter so much for those guns. IMO player health should be reduced a bit instead.

Holding a key to raise weapon? Your thoughts

Not unless I can somehow use my mouse to do it. Holding down a keyboard button would be a pain to use with other movement controls. Actually, the spacebar might work quite well but I use that for "hold breath" at the moment. A good idea... it would just have to be implemented carefully.

    My Suggestions For DayZ. #1

No flintlocks, who the hell has a flintlock? Maybe Dick Turpin or Captain Hornblower... Yes, knife. Need a knife. No Contender, they're less common than CZ550s, especially in Europe. Doesn't fit setting. Could work... nails bomb, anyone? No throwing knives or axes of any sort! Unrealistic. I don't mind more melee weapons, lead pipe, rebar, etc. No chainsaw, chainsaws as weapons were too unrealistic for even George A. Romero to include in his movies.

    Tent packing

Agreed, tents should be able to be packed up and removed without destroying them.

    [SA] Infected Melee Weapons

Nope, I assumed that as well. I think that would be an unnecessary detail, poison weapons are usually only used in assassinations or when the weapon itself isn't powerful enough to kill outright, i.e. sumpitans, etc.
  25. Hehehehe, it's like it's out of some psychedelic Sega game.
