One server I play on has C130 crash sites that spawn medical loot, they also have rusted BMP "crash sites"... I'd prefer an AN-2 crash site, the C130 is massive and the crash site model isn't very good (looks like someone burnt a jumbo hotdog). I don't see why not, we already have helicopter crash sites... planes are cool, just no fighter jets.

Suggestions for where the shipwreck should be placed
-Gews- replied to Chicken-Hawk's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hmmm, either near Kamenka, near Skalisty Island, below Berezino, or near that little inlet up far North. -
Yeah, somehow Movie Maker's 480p seems like my regular 240p...

It's the music Also the humanity, the humanity... killed 5 people tonight, was still sitting pretty in the 2000s. B)

Ah, but you also have to hold RMB to zoom in while looking around, which I do extremely frequently... apparently it still holds your breath even if you aren't looking down your sights. I bound hold breath to the spacebar (if I'm holding my breath, I'm probably not going to be on the move). It's worked for me so far. Frederf says: "Asphyxiating yourself just to scan your surroundings in a close to 1:1 FOV environment is beyond moronic."

Is that necessarily a bad thing? I mean, I have a book on the subject...

Perhaps... but stamped vs milled is a bigger issue than some people make out. Milled is a sign of quality, yes, but I also know part of the reason many AKs are still milled in Pakistan is that they don't have the tools to stamp them. They even copy the stamping marks onto their milled AKs. In general I've heard Afghans prefer stamped AKs; they're lighter.

I like the changeable names although nowadays I always go by my forum name. The problem with a static name is that I might want to change it one day... and what about the guy who goes by Tickleberry but finds to his horror that someone else has taken the Tickleberry name before him? What's he supposed to do, try to buy the name? Go as T1ckleberry? Nay, I say. I've never had a problem with the changing names. There are some people I'd like to hunt but we'd soon see a Chernarus with far more names that have xXs and random integers added to the ends...

The most important thing in PvP is to see them first instead of the other way round. Work on your situational awareness and sneaking...

American Items, Props, Vehicles and Weapons -> out the window
-Gews- replied to Mullraugh's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
On one Pakistani forum I'm a member of () they say you can get an AK-74 assembled in Darra for the equivalent of $150 (imported foreign will cost quite a bit more)... but an AR-15 can cost you anywhere from $3500 to $7000! -
I heard that AK-74s are now beginning to be more desirable in Afghanistan, too. "No, Kalashnikovs are very cheap. They cost only $400. Sometimes the Tajiks buy them from us and we get them from the Chinese. But it's the Kalakov everyone wants." Kalakov is the Afghan name for a new model of Kalashnikov that is lighter and uses smaller bullets. "The Taliban like it because it pierces body armour." Hekmat tapped at his chest to demonstrate and showed me a small bullet. "They cost $700 in Dushanbe and we sell them for $1,100. There is an extra charge of $150 if you want the weapons delivered in the south."

Reduce File Size to create standalone
-Gews- replied to dashx73 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Won't servers kick you for missing files? I don't know what Battleye would do. Not a good idea to mess with basic parts of the game you're trying to play... -
American Items, Props, Vehicles and Weapons -> out the window
-Gews- replied to Mullraugh's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Aircraft carriers aren't static, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't still be hanging around some backwater former Soviet Republic after the conclusion of Operation Red Harvest in 2009... Anyways, yes, American items should be rare. The American items we see should MAKE SENSE (no .50 cal rifles, no AA-12s, etc). However there could still be some American items, they'd just be rarer. Other countries than the US use AR-15 based rifles, this stuff needn't even be American. Wikipedia will tell you that Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Greece, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, and Turkey all have military units which use variants of the AR-15. A lot of other American weapons in-game such as the M249 or M240 are Belgian-designed. Why have an M249 or M240 in the game when you could have a Minimi or an FN MAG? Like I've said many times, the current weapons selection is not ideal, that should be obvious to anyone. This is a mod, apart from a couple exceptions it uses ArmA weapons. The final decisions will be up to the community dev team.. However I'm still gonna spam my request to see a PKM in the game, that shit needs to be in right now! -
Anyone play dayz usin intergrated hd4000 graphics?
-Gews- replied to jeremy768's topic in New Player Discussion
I'm using integrated HD3000 graphics, so you can definitely run it with HD4000. B) -
Good idea! The dev team could hire Stabman!

The server would run out of players in no time. If someone really wanted that on their server, they could decide to ban players who had been killed. Reminds me of my suggestion:

Still in testing? :P
