All the public servers are linked, that's what the traders trade on. So just find someone, agree on a public server and hope they don't snipe you.

No knife or laser pointer duct taped on... knife wouldn't work, laser pointer wouldn't work. Flashlight could work on a long gun.

Will Snipers Be Removed Or At Least Tweaked In S.A?
-Gews- replied to Pokerguy12's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yup, any rifle will go through a car, you don't need an anti-material rifle to counter Ladas and Urals. As for helicopters, they tend not to stick around if you have an LMG. The "AS50 needed for helis" argument doesn't count because the AS50 has bugged damage - it shouldn't be that powerful in the first place. I don't think armed helicopters have much of a place in this game anyways, and if we have armed helis, why not armed cars? -
If heroes get perks for aiding people, should bandits not get perks for killing people? Trolololo... No, but seriously, either or, I'd prefer no perks (as they currently exist), but favouring heroes is unfair to all the wonderful banditos out there.

Mess around with remapping the controls for "zoom (continuous)", "lock and zoom", "optics" and "optics mode".

Last time I got stabbed it sounded something like this: "FUUUCKING HELL!"

This is weird, I haven't really tested it out since I usually don't shoot through store windows... but the times I've tried it seemed to work fine. Hmmm.

Let them tape away... there's no good argument for keeping the crosshairs in the game.

Are you my alternate account? ^_^

Comes from Nepal, but most of the copies you'll find nowadays are Indian and of sub-par quality. The high-quality pieces are still Nepalese and are very fine... Tora, Himlayan Imports, etc. Some day I'll scrounge for a Dui Chirra:

Where do you think is the best hidden place to set a tent?
-Gews- replied to Absmoke's topic in New Player Discussion
The places no one thinks of. Too many random wilderness places to list. For some reason I find a fair amount of tents on the hills around Polana... I hang around there a bit because there's always well-geared players to kill. -
I would argue its practical uses include gathering publicity for S&W, allowing people to boast they've got "le biggest pistol" and perhaps stopping a charging grizzly. Out of interest though, if this were to be included in ArmA (with the 8-3/4-in barrel) it would do anywhere from 7,500 to 9,100 damage (resisting temptation to make over 9000 comment).

Flashlight and gun makes sense, no reason to oppose. Gun and knife, maybe, although I think it would be extremely difficult to kill someone with a knife, gun and hatchet FTW.

Some thoughts to guard your camp goods from looters :D
-Gews- replied to madhellsing's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Agreed, it would be hard to do it "right"... IRL people only set up deadly traps for good reasons (like to guard their meth lab!), in games... not so much. -
7.62x25mm Tokarev, can penetrate vests with protection levels less than NIJ-IIIA. When the .500 Magnum first came out a few years back, the "Violence Policy Ccenter" (read "Gun Control Group") termed it the "Vest Buster" under the assumption it would be used by criminals to punch through police vests... Some company jumped on the opportunity and produced a new vest, which they had tested to be capable of defeating the .500 S&W. The vest's protection level? Equivalent to NIJ-IIIA. Doesn't need to be a big boy to zip through armour.

-Gews- replied to Pokerguy12's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I always complain about this, one of the two reasons I want all .50s removed... The mod devs are already considering adding wind drift to weapons http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/130854-wind-and-ballistics-system/ Hopefully the SA is also thinking along the same lines. -
Hehe, already have:

It would be fun to see but I wouldn't want to see it. -not to be found in Eastern Europe or other "Chernarusy" places -suitable for stopping bears, not so much people -doesn't fit my view of "realistic" or as Rocket prefers "authentic" weapons choices Speaking from an IRL perspective I think this would blow right through a man and perhaps a couple people behind him as well. I'd rather have a revolver which weighed less, had far less recoil and was still effective. I don't think a revolver can be much more effective than a .357 with a 125-gr hollowpoint. If I recall correctly the Texas Rangers weren't even pleased with the (perceived) stopping power of their .45 autos compared to their old .357 wheelguns, which was partly why they went to .357 SIG, and .45 is generally held in high esteem. I do like attempting to mod weapons like this just for fun and messing around in the editor, though.

-Gews- replied to madhellsing's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm sure advanced "bouncing betty" mines from the 2030s will be quite common in a present-day Eastern European zombie apocalypse... nah. The tripwire grenade idea is good, and the punji stick pit idea is good. There obviously should be a way to spot them. They should also be only able to set up in certain areas, you can't string a tripwire or dig a spike pit in the middle of a concrete road, etc. If you put a grenade trap inside a house as opposed to some bushes in the forest it would also be easier to spot. -
My best Makarov kill was when a guy with an M249 was running through Guglovo and made an ill-timed vault over a fence as he was trying to kill me... "pop, headshot".
-
Meh, if they don't make one people are probably just going to try to port stuff back into ArmA 2. A shooting range mission would be nice.

Which server runs the oldest dayz version

A lot of people say it's the best flavour - sometimes it comes with a free Makarov. -
DayZ modding stand still? whats up? "dayZ clones" have better features? why?
-Gews- replied to timedance's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If it ain't broken, don't fix it... Well actually there's a lot that needs to be fixed with the mod, but I don't want extra things polluting the "pure" experience. Leave that to the private hives. Not to bash private hives, a change of pace or new experience can be nice. They are definitely working on things.
