  1. This server actually sounds like it could be fun for a bit of a romp :lol: someone should head in with Fraps on the whole time, would make for a good video.

When Horde was making his wind mod he looked to actual ballistics tables, etc to set the values. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/127208-attn-community-help-needed-wind-and-windage/#entry1225256 I don't think anyone would tolerate something that was just "made up", it has to try to be realistic.

    The only people I have a problem with are the backstabbers. Dirty low-down mumble mumble....... <_<
  10. I assume he means that deploying a bipod will steady the weapon, like in ACE (oh dear, dear ACE). It helps tremendously with long-range sniping and it makes machine guns much more effective. However in ACE it also reduces the amount you can turn the weapon from side to side (field of fire? Terminology blank here), and you can't move at all without having to redeploy the bipod.

I thought this was pretty damn funny and a rare sight in DayZ, too. :lol: A couple nights ago I was bored and didn't want to spend hours running around the wilderness, so I hopped into a populated server intending to do some quick deathmatching in Elektro. Anyways, some guy on sidechat announced he and his squad were taking the Elektro church, so I found an Enfield and some ammunition near the hospital and was heading that way when I heard the far-off sounds of an engine coming from Otmel. Soon enough I saw some dust clouds in the distance and the noise grew louder, it sounded like a very large diesel engine. As the unseen vehicle approached, I started to hear the clanking of metal tracks and realized this wasn't a normal vehicle... I sprinted into an orange brick house only a few seconds before the vehicle passed down the street, catching a good look at it over my shoulder as I entered the doorway. An AAV! I remained hidden in the house and picked up some more Enfield ammo as I heard rifle shots ring out from the church, followed by the deep "boomboomboomboomboom" of the AAV's 50 cal and then many thundering blasts as the gunner sent dozens of 40mm rounds into the church. Then the complaints started... "There's a tank in Elektro!" "Some dude has an AAV and just totalled the church" "Someone's in a LAV" Soon the admin chimed in: "Who has the AAV? Is it an AAV or a LAV? Random dude: "I don't know? I can't kill him to see the name" "It's an AAV" Admin, in global voice chat: "Whoever has the AAV, get rid of it. Just... drive it into the water" Me: "It's amphibious." Admin: "I know its capabilities, I'm just saying... get rid of it. That was supposed to be deleted." More explosions and the sound of 30 tons of steel moving quickly through the streets. After a minute or so... Admin: "Whoever has the AAV, get rid of it or I'm going to kick you" Finally "our man in armour" spoke up and the admin asked him to lose the AAV. Mr. AAV (southern English accent): "This is a donator vehicle" Admin: "They were supposed to be deleted, we decided it was OP" At this point Mr. AAV started to become quite whiny... Mr. AAV: "So what do I get for donating then? Do we still have Cobras?" Admin: "We still have Cobras, we deleted the Apache and AAV because they were OP" Mr. AAV: "So why can't I have an Apache?" Me: "Because it's a flying tank?" Admin: "Yes, we decided it was OP, the autocannon can kill anything in 4 shots" Mr. AAV: "So what do we get then?" Admin: "We're replacing the AAV with the BTR-90 for donators" Mr. AAV then proceeded to sound quite indignant and woefully wronged as he deliberated on how to destroy the AAV. Mr. AAV: "Maybe I can crash it into a helicopter" Admin: "Try to roll it over on a hill" Soon afterwards I quit the server... tanks and attack choppers... they talk about donator privileges, but I've never seen anything that bad! I particularly liked how one donator was boasting he didn't care about dying since he would respawn with whatever gear he died with... people called him out but he said "it's just a game, I'm only here to have fun, not try to be some hardcore player" and proceeded to put down what he viewed as the "1337" attitude of the DayZ forums... Pshaw, working for gear... who need dat? I hate this kind of nonsense. <_<

    Zastava makes them, CZ makes them, Rossi and Manhurin make them, I can see a .357 appearing. Wouldn't be as common as the 9x18s and 9x19s.

    I think it should be more of an "event" to get in a helicopter. Right now there's not much sense of the size, power and complexity of the machine, you just hop in and fly it around like it's an arcade game. It takes off almost immediately, too. It's better in first-person, but not too much. These are some examples of what I think is missing... Ideally I'd like it to be a bit more complex... that is, if they include helicopters... and if they include military helicopters there's no logical reason they shouldn't include other military vehicles, which opens up a whole can of worms... Oops, going off-topic. High-powered guns are fine as long as they are plausible... I don't think the AS50s or M107s are plausible. If this was a war game with light armour, then maybe, but no one needs them for humans or zombies. However I do like the ability to snipe people at very long ranges, so if they decide to include a long-range rifle I hope it's either a .338 or a .300 WM or any similar caliber. One of the things many games do is introduce a plethora of random guns from around the world, usually picked for their "cool factor". They aren't even plausible choices or have an explanation for being found in the game world... Raging Judge in Black Ops 2? Or Desert Eagles in oh-so-many war games? Okay, these guns are cool, but they make no sense. That's fine, because those are casual games. In ArmA the weapons lists do try to make sense (well, not ArmA III, heh). You don't have random guns or vehicles added in for cool factor. If it's US vs Takistan, you have US weapons and vehicles and Takistani weapons and vehicles and precious little else. They don't put in a golden Desert Eagle or an AEK-971 for bling or awesomeness (maybe a golden revolver and AK, but Middle Eastern commanders have a penchant for gaudy shit like that). In my ideal DayZ the weapons list would reflect what you might find in a country similar to Chernarus. Lots of Russian guns, maybe more than a few Western guns too depending on the backstory, but no survivors toting .500 Smith & Wessons (nudge nudge LancerG2 ;) ), AA-12 automatic shotguns or very special .50 caliber anti-material rifles (I can't seem to find a picture or report of an AS50 being used in combat anywhere). I think a major problem many people have is that the lower-powered weaponry just isn't as fun to use. Fire a Makarov in DayZ and it goes "pop" and doesn't do any real damage. In real life you can feel the blast, the gun recoils in your hand, it's extremely loud, there's a bunch of sensations that are completely missing in the game, especially with the lame default gun sounds. They need to work on that. Maybe if they make the "lower tech" weapons feel badass, people wouldn't have as much desire for the "higher tech" guns.

    And the gunner can't stay hidden inside the vehicle. At least they didn't spawn the variant with a 30mm cannon, PKT, automatic grenade launcher and guided anti-tank missiles. I still can't believe they made Apaches spawn... the admin said he took them out after a guy blew his tank up. :huh:

    Those stickers are precious, one started peeling off and I had to superglue it back on... yup, USB, handy for those times when you want to attack a wagon train or ambush mountain men. It includes a foofurraw CD-ROM and an HDMI possibles sack.

    Play nice, that kind of performance only occurs when things are going very poorly indeed.. This little bubba from Toshiba. Weighs under 5 lbs! (I'm trying to find nice things to say about it).

    Someone brought that up with the admin and there wasn't a clear solution, I don't know how it would work. Get an AH-1 Cobra, I guess... As for killing it, I have no idea apart from shooting at the tires. Ech.
