Perhaps... but stamped vs milled is a bigger issue than some people make out. Milled is a sign of quality, yes, but I also know part of the reason many AKs are still milled in Pakistan is that they don't have the tools to stamp them. They even copy the stamping marks onto their milled AKs. :lol: In general I've heard Afghans prefer stamped AKs; they're lighter.

I like the changeable names although nowadays I always go by my forum name. The problem with a static name is that I might want to change it one day... and what about the guy who goes by Tickleberry but finds to his horror that someone else has taken the Tickleberry name before him? What's he supposed to do, try to buy the name? Go as T1ckleberry? Nay, I say. I've never had a problem with the changing names. There are some people I'd like to hunt but we'd soon see a Chernarus with far more names that have xXs and random integers added to the ends...

On one Pakistani forum I'm a member of ( :lol:) they say you can get an AK-74 assembled in Darra for the equivalent of $150 (imported foreign will cost quite a bit more)... but an AR-15 can cost you anywhere from $3500 to $7000!

Aircraft carriers aren't static, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't still be hanging around some backwater former Soviet Republic after the conclusion of Operation Red Harvest in 2009... Anyways, yes, American items should be rare. The American items we see should MAKE SENSE (no .50 cal rifles, no AA-12s, etc). However there could still be some American items, they'd just be rarer. Other countries than the US use AR-15 based rifles, this stuff needn't even be American. Wikipedia will tell you that Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Greece, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, and Turkey all have military units which use variants of the AR-15. A lot of other American weapons in-game such as the M249 or M240 are Belgian-designed. Why have an M249 or M240 in the game when you could have a Minimi or an FN MAG? Like I've said many times, the current weapons selection is not ideal, that should be obvious to anyone. This is a mod, apart from a couple exceptions it uses ArmA weapons. The final decisions will be up to the community dev team.. However I'm still gonna spam my request to see a PKM in the game, that shit needs to be in right now! :lol:

That ship looks fantastic! I love it, very atmospheric. I wonder where it's going to be placed... can't be too far offshore because then it would be underwater. :D In Kaiolohia Bay, Hawaii, there's a rusting ship fairly far off the shore and upright, too.

The sounds aren't great, but some of them are just terrible. For example, if anything, the AS50 should use the M107 sound as a stand-in while they search for a suitable replacement... both .50s with muzzle brakes. I don't know about some of this stuff, i.e. telling the type of rifle by the sound a long-action vs a short-action Remington 700 receiver makes... maybe Doc Savage could pull it off (he could tell the weight of a fired bullet to an accuracy of 1/7000 of a pound by holding it in his palm :lol:) but I don't think anyone else could. I agree with the overall goal of better sounds, DayZ needs some kind of JSRS, the sonic aspect of a game can really add or detract from the experience. Right now bolt-action rifles don't even make bolt-action sounds... :(

I hate how the AS50 is overpowered, someone made a bug ticket on Dev-Heaven about it but it never got fixed... You know what I suspect? I suspect it wasn't a mistake, I suspect someone made a deliberate decision to throw away realism in favour of video-gamey "balancing". It's ridiculously overpowered, check this out: 12.7x99mm, raw damage = 26 14.5x114mm, raw damage = 31 20x102mm AP, raw damage = 40 23x152mm AP-HE, raw damage = 45 AS50, raw damage = 56 Wtf!

The Lapua does the same as an M107, not an AS50. It can't use M107 or AS50 magazines. Still much too powerful for the round, obviously someone at Bohemia simply recycled the .50 caliber damage value. I wouldn't mind if they introduced it to DayZ, but they would need to alter the damage value (it would still be a one-shot kill, but it's the principle of the matter!).

It's still as powerful at 800 meters as an M16A2 at point blank, and you can't survive an 5.56 headshot at point blank, so damage shouldn't be a problem. Either the server didn't register it as a headshot, it was some kind of desync, or they were hacking... can't think of many other explanations. Sometimes a bullet ricochets into someone or bounces off their gun dealing low damage but not here... I would just put it down to an unfortunate glitch or error and carry on.

Yup, and with the stock retracted, the M4 is a bit shorter than the L85, so there, you Brits :) An AK with an under-folding stock is shorter than both, anyways. The nice thing about the L85 is the 20 inch barrel which will give you roughly ~200 ft/s higher muzzle velocity compared to the M4, which means the rounds will shoot flatter and will be more likely to fragment at much longer ranges, which is very important.
