I'm still not seeing how this would help the game... someone logs in and "poof!" there appears a fleet of Urals, a heavily fortified base, several tents and dozens of high-end weapons... then they log out and zzzzzap, it's all magically gone in the blink of an eye. Does the OP want each player have their own TARDIS? Because that's what I'm seeing here...

    Yes, that's what I mean. Of course the full-sized cartridge is more powerful but the mod greatly exaggerates the differences between all the cartridges. An AK-74 should be much more effective than an old Lee-Enfield, right now it's generally not. The damages should be closer together... think about it, a 5.45 is only 1/3 as effective as a 7.62. That's ridiculous. Another example is how pistols have been ridiculously weak in DayZ.

    I was looking at statistics for a 1978 Lada 1600, one article claims 97 mph, others say 87... SUV is 2007-2009 Chevy Suburban, saw a black one on the road recently and did a double-take. :lol:

    KSVK in the mod, good or bad idea?

    Bottom line: because snipers want to take people out with a single shot at ranges out to 1000 meters or further. Anyways we don't need them, I used to support the KSVK and it does make more sense than the Western ones, but... there are many other rifles I'd have before it. Instead of adding anti-materiel to kill people at long ranges, they could add powerful hunting rifles, 7mm Rem Mag, .300 WM, if you're going expensive and European maybe .338 Blaser or something exotic. If it can kill a bull elk at well over 1,000 yards it should have no problem on a human in DayZ. I'd like that for a couple reasons: first these rifles are actually portable and hunting rifles always get short thrift in games, second, people would be forced to loot DEERSTANDS for once... for a while now the only thing you'll find is a CZ, so everyone crowds around military spawns. It would spread people throughout the map more. I kind of doubt that will happen but a Gews can dream. Neither for the KSVK or against it. I wouldn't really mind either way.

    Looks unscoped to me, and it's a full-length Mauser, not the K98K. I hope most of the weapons are along these lines, "no advanced weapons", etc... Assault rifles? Pffft, who needs them. That reminds me, I hope they fix the damages a bit... right now full-sized rifle cartridges are king, there shouldn't be such a massive difference. Most any bullet should be quite deadly.

    This is something everyone should keep in mind... I expect there would be a ton of people complaining "molotovs aren't effective". There's no reason molotovs shouldn't be added if it was possible. I expect it would take a lot of work, that's probably why there aren't that many molotov scripts for ArmA. I think these would be most useful for: attracting zombies creating signal fires destroying people's vehicles when left unguarded

    Chernarus is only 225 km²... 1000 players would be 4.44 players per square kilometer... 4.44 players per square kilometer means the average distance between each player would be a mere 450 meters... A certain someone fiddling while Chernarus burns

    The cars are all way too slow. I don't keep track of vehicle statistics but 100 km/h is a pretty fast speed for your average ArmA sedan. The Land Rovers are very fast and can easily travel at 115 kph if I recall correctly. I remember being very happy about reaching the huge speed of 140 km/h in a black SUV. Converting 100 km/h to mph we get... 62 mph. Converting 115 km/h to mph we get... 71 mph. Converting 140 km/h to mph we get... 87 mph. Pathetic! Top speed of the Lada should be maybe 150-160 km/h or more. Top speed of the Land Rover... no idea, too lazy to look up the exact model. Much higher than 115-120. Top speed of the Suburban, 158 km/h (electronically limited!)

    That means someone has to take the time to make a Mauser pistol model, then they have to make multiple copies of the model with different levels of detail, as well as a muzzle flash model then they have to make textures, normal and specular maps as well as ambient shadow maps, RVMAT, fresnel values, etc, then hand animations, then working bolt animations, then they have to write up the model configuration and config.cpp files to actually get it properly working in the game. In other words it can be a fair amount of work to do it properly, and why would they focus on an out-of-place and rare Mauser when they could instead spend time making a Mosin, Tokarev, etc, or even more important, fixing countless other things? In any case the community dev team has so far shown (apparently) little interest in adding any new and original weapons. The only DayZ-exclusive weapon added since I've started playing has been the machete.
