Not the point, I can't hit things that I can't even see. I do have some basic knowledge of how to aim, thanks. Just look at the first two pictures - for those of you with 24" 1920x1080 monitors, perhaps you can see stuff because your screen is twice as large. Now try it on a 13". :( Besides, I have a hard time believing people can use the M4 to consistently hit things from any appreciable distance when the accuracy is, apparently, almost 60 times worse than the M4 in ArmA 2.

I haven't actually seen a Mosin yet in-game but I saw this suggestion on Reddit. He's right, Mosins have a straight bolt. This is a problem because the straight bolt handle won't clear a scope. To do that, it needs a turned-down bolt handle, either factory, or a bubba job. Like these. Early shots showed the Mosin with a straight bolt and according to that topic, the modeller had this to say: I modeled the bolt straight They bent it internally And they bent it wrong Post on my behalf lol Anyways, as per that topic, perhaps your average Mosin should come with a straight bolt, and the turned-down bolt should be an attachment, as well as being craftable with the right tools.

Well, optics were always more valuable. Here's an example: Field of view on ArmA 2 ACOG was 0.0623. Field of view on zoomed in iron sights was 0.25. 0.25 / 0.063 = 4x The ACOG had a 4x zoom. So you see, the zoomed in level was the one considered "normal". The zoomed out level was the one that was for gameplay. They couldn't represent both the sharpness of human eyes and their field of view on a flat computer monitor, so they needed a variable zoom level. I found it also made gameplay more enjoyable, I hate not being able to make out things at ArmA distances.

Confirmed: radio system for next patch -
Oh, what's this, right there on the Steam store, IN ALL CAPS?

Same here, died, waited a while, exited, joined, spawned back in same place with gear.

The following I believe. However the health system is probably completely changed, so I can only say Mosin > FNX 45. In the mod you got knocked out when you lost a certain amount of health in a single hit.

There is a picture of 7.62x39mm in the files. There is no AKM to fire it but there is an SKS. However, the SKS currently uses the same ammunition, magazines and muzzle velocity as the Mosin-Nagant. Clearly that will have to be changed! (note SKS isn't in game yet). As well, both the Mosin and SKS ammunition is "B_762x51_Ball", which is probably a placeholder. That's just a wrong name so doesn't affect anything at all. However, having an SKS using the same ammunition as a Mosin is no bueno!

Anyone know how long the notes persist for? Server restart, or longer?

Only have two ten round magazines which I'm not a fan of in use or concept (why do the military have ten round magazines again?)

What I think the night should look like;
-Gews- replied to victusmortuus's topic in General Discussion
He's right, you know. Nice picture but night doesn't look like that. Here it looks kinda like this: And here is how colours look under a street light. In the day, the foliage is all bright and vibrant green. Under the light it's sickly yellow. Here's a construction site I visited at night. Street lights. All of it appears yellowish. The rest is PITCH black. -
Spawned in Stary Sobor after death

I spawned somewhere inland I didn't recognize, it was dark as, so I couldn't tell, but it was definitely inland. -
Are There Only 3 Guns On 1st Release?
-Gews- replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
No that's like saying it's pointless to have more than one car, since they'd all be the same thing in game. But they're not. Appreciate the fine differences. -
I found the secret, it's called Balota... found more there in under five minutes than I did after spending over two hours around Elektro and environs. Not just weapons either, food, drinks, clothing, boots, backpack, medicine, masks...

Accuracy of the guns and balota military spawns
-Gews- replied to Mao Zedong's topic in General Discussion
I checked, and default accuracy of the M4 is terrible! For comparison, in ArmA 2 That's accuracy of 6 MOA in ArmA 2, but... 344 MOA in DayZ. Ehhh, I'm questioning whether I even have this right, because that's just... unbelievable. -
I want to see stuff that I think I'd actually have a chance of seeing. Lots of Eastern and Warsaw Pact military firearms. Lots of European hunting guns of various types. Lots of handguns. Things that are plain silly (ie, AA-12, AS50) or unlikely (ie, SA80, Ed Brown Executive Elite) or too old (ie, flintlock musket) I don't want to see. I'd like a Baikal MP-153. It's Russian, but it's very popular in Europe and North America, even in Pakistan. Why? It's cheap, and it works. Autoloaders tend to be much more expensive than pumps. It would have to be with the IC choke for slugs, though. Another gun I'd like would be the Tikka T3. Again, common and popular because it's cheap and it works. These Tikkas have a reputation for great out-of-the-box accuracy. Weapons like these just fit, IMO

Ha, are you playing with friends and chatting the whole way perchance? As a mostly solo player I wouldn't be walking for a full hour just to get to Stary. Maybe I'm impatient.

Are There Only 3 Guns On 1st Release?
-Gews- replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
I kind of doubt that... it's a common gun, they sold millions and millions in the US alone. However they're not popular in Europe, at all. The bolt action rules. I assume they'd mostly be owned only by people interested in American lever-actions or the Old West, not as serious hunting guns. For this reason I don't want to see one but I'm probably in the minority. Speaking of guns, I want my M4 to zoom in like in all ArmA games, I can barely see anything past 50 meters without jacking up my FOV. Should appear closer to the eye like so: -
All the enterable buildings. Infinitely more gameplay value. Small villages actually have a use now. More places to hide. It's a whole new world.

I found all of it in Dr Sova's cabin.

There are models and files for the following firearms: but not all of them appear to be configured yet. -
I turn down my 3D resolution to 910x512 Seems to work

Yep ;) alright, here are the damages folks. Please note these may or may not correspond to actual blood loss. Just a method of comparing relative to each other. Will be updating this later with damage drop-off at range, zeroing and bullet drop figures. Placeholder post! Also, I have some comments on improving the fidelity of the external ballistics (for example, .45 ACP currently loses too much velocity compared to IRL figures). However that will wait for later! List of stuff that should be fixed

Revised a couple values, added list of things that could be improved.
