PSA: In-game the bayonet only serves to reduce your accuracy and make your gun more visible. Discard it immediately. It's not wind though, it's something to do with the models, probably a bug, but possibly intentional and depending on item condition. Maybe it could even be something to do with the proxy attachment system. Anyways I'm 99% certain it's an issue with the models.

This is currently possible because they gave the "Magnum" the same muzzle velocity as 5.56mm. That means it only drops about 2-3/4 meters at that range. If they gave it more realistic ballistics it would drop over 17 meters.
-
They'd only be 1.4x or 1.6x telescopes, so kinda useless unless you found a long range, or until they fix the magnifications.

[SA] Clips, speedloaders, and realistic backpack damage.
-Gews- replied to Jeffhole's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Just keep in mind you could only use the standard Mosin stripper clips WITHOUT a scope. Both the scopes in the game would be in the way and would require loading rounds one by one. -
Your character's backstory is irrelevant and doesn't address these points: If [poor accuracy meant untrained characters], then why: -is the Mosin way more accurate than the M4? -are survivors less stressed or better trained when holding a Mosin? -why does adding a muzzle compensator or Magpul stock dramatically increase the accuracy? -why does a bipod turn the Mosin into a de facto M24? The effects make absolutely no sense. It's like having a racing game where you car gets double the top speed because it has cool rims, a spoiler and tribal decals. Why would a muzzle compensator turn accuracy from poor to perfect? Why does the brand name of the stock increase accuracy by a dozen times? These parts should have almost no effect on inherent accuracy, instead they turn it from much worse than AKM to Lapua-like. Sorry for not being one of those "yes men"?

No shots taken. Default accuracy is pretty bad at all ranges, at a mere 100 yards the dispersion would be over 42 inches... compared to: 7 inches with Magpul parts 6 inches in ARMA 2 13 inches in the ACE 2 mod (which took combat stress into account)
-
The Eastern equivalents are the OTs-20 and the Udar.
-
No point testing with those parts, because accuracy is fine with them - there's no issue with it. The same goes for bipods. The accuracy issue is with the stock parts, or worse-than-stock parts (ie, CQB butt stock).

I have a suspicion that might have been done on purpose. Maybe to give red dots more of an advantage. Regardless, I highly dislike it... naked eye zoom should match iron sight zoom and vice versa.
-
It must be a problem with the model, there are three points you have to place correctly when making a gun, two for the barrel, and one for the sight. Maybe one is off by a small amount, like this:

Hehehe this topic was not completely serious, I don't expect anyone to hit anything at anywhere near 1,500 meters, ever, and you couldn't see them anyways. Once I did hit a guy in Wasteland at 1,550 with an M24 but that weapon is in a different league. I think the PU has an effective range of maybe 400 as it currently stands.
-
They should go almost 2,000 meters.
-
I will say this about FOV and scopes: be default the PU scope has a zoom of only 1.39x. With the FOV all the way left, it effectively doubles to 2.78x. But even still, it's much less than the real value of 3.5x. Personally I don't care about fixing the FOV slider until they fix the magnified scope and the iron sight zooms. The way it is currently just completely kills it for me. We have kind of a "half zoom" which is engaged when entering iron sights, it's worse for close combat, it's worse for ranged combat, and it doesn't make sense when you can zoom in and out just like in the mod when running around normally. ArmA 3 and ArmA 2 and even OFP I am happy enough with the combat, but DayZ... right now this ties with realism stats for my biggest issue with the game, I can live with no zombies and alpha bugs galore, but I can't live with the current iron sight mechanics.
-
Only when prone, and only when deployed. It reduces your weapon's handling, but that has never been an important factor.
-
When we get more weapons introduced, hopefully the M4 will be made very rare, a top-tier weapon. Then it can have increased accuracy without having that problem. And I would mention there was plenty of reasons to take a Lee-Enfield over an M4 in the mod, where they both had similar accuracy and no one complained... Mosin is often a one-shot kill is a good reason to take it. M4s aren't any less accurate than Mosin-Nagants.
-
Doesn't change the fact they're very inaccurate. I'm mostly talking about the stock M4, and the two pistols. The Mosin I do not have nearly as much of a problem with. I think it could use a slight increase but like I said, it's not "terrible", it's an old milsurp rifle. Yup, the bipod significantly improves the accuracy. In fact I would say with bipod, it's probably too accurate for an old Mosin. I haven't confirmed stats for the bipod yet but it's a whole other level, closer to the Lapua than the stock Mosin.
-
That would be preferable... but also more noticeable to the player (cue complaints about ArmA 3's sway). On the other hand the player can compensate for it, something no one can do with complete randomness. I would also like to see simple wind drift added but I'm not holding my breath. In any case, I never heard people complaining about the great accuracy of the AK-74 being OP, etc, during my entire time playing the mod. It's only now that decent accuracy seems to be an issue with some people, which is unfortunate.

Files. I dunno, but these are the default dispersions, no attachments (with the exception of the M4A1 which comes standard with handguard and stock).

Zombies should have MUCH more HP than humans
-Gews- replied to andrestor's topic in General Discussion
Why not just give them the exact same health as players... now there's an idea. -
No  horribly biased towards anything with a large diameter. .243 Winchester Bore diameter: 0.243 Area: 0.0464 Weight: 80 Velocity: 3350 Power: 12.43 Hey, whaddya know, the .243 has the same "stopping power" as a .38 Special!

Edit: wait, I thought this was the new Demongroover. Whatever

Yes, but you get the same thing with full-length barrels like most any shotgun... and it needs much more recoil, and much less accuracy due to the missing stock.

*big game hunting*

They will feed. You'll have to push them way slower to avoid leading and accuracy problems and you'll want gas checks.

Does magazine size have an effect on M4 bullet dispersion
-Gews- replied to autoloon's topic in General Discussion
It's a valid question. Many other attachments in the game have effects on accuracy that don't make any sense. <_<
