    556 Supressor useless?

There's no good reason to be using subsonic 5.56. It would be fairly useless. Especially for anti-personnel purposes. If you really wanted a subsonic .22 you'd just use a .22 LR in the first place. IMO they shouldn't even give players the option to use or make subsonic 5.56, for the most part it would be a gimmick that is based entirely on video game logic.

    Strange, could have sworn...
  3. I dunno about this KoS. I have been in a couple crashes and I've never been knocked out while wearing a helmet... I'm pretty sure diving over the handlebars and ramming a 100 ton boulder is worse than your average punch. You should get someone to don a full-face helmet and try it out on them

    Weapon selection

There is no other "lore". That's what people are talking about when they say "lore". Whether or not they stick with it is up to Rocket and co. Rocket on realism: They have an AK seemingly mostly ready to go and perhaps it will replace the M4. Or not...
  5. I don't care how hard it is, you shouldn't be able to knock out people wearing motorcycle helmets... what do you think it is, a cosmetic item? It's a helmet, and there's only one purpose for it which is protecting against head injuries. My advice would be don't try punching people wearing motorcycle helmets because that's stupid and will lead to broken fingers. No, not really, and anyways I would actually be asking why you can't stab someone to death, slashing sucks. I want to stab.

    Weapon selection

    1. The British weren't in Chernarus, the Americans were. 2. They wanted to test the attachment system and the M4A1 has the most attachments 3. The M4A1 was ready first 4. Certain weapons have been chosen without regard for realism or plausibility
  7. No. Being able to punch someone out who's wearing a motorcycle helmet is a nonsensical and indefensible mechanic. Those things are designed to protect you from the road punching your face. A fist to the helmet shouldn't knock you out.

    Weapon selection

There's only one reason they put the Python in the game and that's because certain people want to pretend to be Rick Grimes. Something's off here
  9. Since it's based on real life simply check if there are any gun stores located in or around Povrly, Czech Republic, and you have your answer...
  10. Hell no They just need to rework punching, insta-knockouts aren't realistic and I don't care who says so. They need to fix it so you can sprint up and actually smash or tackle someone to the ground and then go to town on them, instead of taking a boxing stance and trading little jabs which somehow produce 30 minute waiting periods...

    Why aren't PvE servers allowed?

PvE servers destroy Rocket's vision of the game. It's not even DayZ anymore. I like to imagine it's to protect the good name of DayZ by preventing it from being turned into a loot-collecting circle jerk.

Accuracy comparison: DayZ vs ARMA 2

M4s should not be printing 20+ inch groups at 50 yards.

What do you mean by "vector-based"? I don't follow, as one could say the current system is "vector-based". In fact I can't see how there could be any form of ballistics without vectors.

    Mauser C96

They made at least 400,000 Webleys, and they've also made at least 400,000 Colt SAAs... those are also found all over the world and I don't think they fit either. It's also not a practical firearm, it's over a foot long, doesn't handle well, reloading is a slow process with the clips and in the case of the 7.63 caliber, ammunition isn't manufactured anymore although you could use 7.62x25 and hope for the best (don't do this). All that means most people got rid of them as soon as something better came along. I've never heard of or seen anyone using a Mauser C96 either in combat or for criminal purposes in the present day, and I've never heard of or seen any being confiscated from people either. It's a collector's item and I don't find it plausible. Too old.

    Sniping

Why not? Wind is the biggest factor in long range shooting yet the game leaves it out entirely. Odd.

    Intel HD Graphics

Yes you can run it, FPS won't be high but it won't be 5 either. Source: personal experience : (

    Regarding snipers

I don't quite understand - even the M4A1 is capable of shooting over 1,500 meters.

    Anti aircraft weapons

I suspect you mean 23mm aircraft gun. Also the Soviets did not used the 8.8cm Flak or the QF 3.7-inch.

    Regarding snipers

I don't see a suggestion though. Unless you mean preventing snipers from physically entering Chernogorsk?

More civilian guns- especially lever actions!

And this is why I would rather not see it... I don't think the Python was a great choice either given that there are many more commonly encountered .357 revolvers than Colt Pythons (maybe they chose it because of The Walking Dead?) But for the sake of argument say they put in a .357 levergun. We would need some important ballistic differences to be taken into account. A Colt Python typically shoots a bit slower than other .357 revolvers. Why? Probably because the barrel tapers towards the muzzle, and because the rifling has a faster twist rate. I checked it out, for your average factory ammo, 158 grains (most common weight), 1180 ft/s (360 m/s) seems like a good figure to me. So that leaves the rifle's velocity. The .357 Magnum actually gains a ton of velocity in a rifle or carbine. 1770 ft/s (540 m/s) would be a good round figure for the same 158-grain factory ammunition. That creates a problem, because the in-game muzzle velocity depends on the magazine (single rounds are also just "magazines"). Bohemia has never created a system to account for muzzle velocity vs barrel length, and I doubt they'll do it for DayZ. There are mods that do it, but nothing official (even though it would be easy to do so). So most likely we'd either have an unrealistic revolver, or an unrealistic rifle. The second thing is that the aerodynamics totally change when firing the same bullet from a rifle. In my "Correcting SA ballistics" thread I suggested an airFriction of -0.00166 for the 158-gr .357 bullet at 360 m/s. For the rifle at 540 m/s, it would have to be in the range of -0.00265, which makes a HUGE difference! Since aerodynamics is based on the bullet, you would not be able to get "realistic" ballistics without having scripts which change the type of "magazines" the moment you load them into a rifle, even ACE doesn't do that. For those reasons I'd rather have a .30-30. And also, they made, what... I believe it is 7.5 million Winchester 94s? Add the Marlins to that and it makes more sense than a .357. But still none of them really make sense for the Chernarus location. Dean did talk about wanting to do an American map at some point.

    Mosin Pointblank Issue

There's no point setting it to 50m because this is what happens when set to 100m: As you can see it barely rises at all. Less than the diameter of the human eye (in blue), and that's at the very maximum. So 100 will work fine at short range. I believe the dot shows where you are looking, not where your gun is pointing, at close ranges the bullet will hit low.

    Mauser C96

Yes If they included a Mauser, it would mean leaving out something else, something more fitting. They can't model everything and give them all "proper" spawn rates. I for one would rather see any of the below pistols than a C96 and I picked most of them randomly... C96 doesn't feel plausible to me, it seems like it would be the kind of thing to make the news ("robber captured with turn-of-the-century pistol").

    Sniping

Rocket seems to dislike any form of HUD, that might be a problem. IMO the ACE system with the coloured arrows was perfectly fine, I don't know what the problem is with something like that. It's only on your screen when you want it to be. As long as they put realistic values then wind affects the different bullets roughly the same in-game as in real life. Not really hard to implement. A complete real-time meterological system, yes, that's impossible. Simplified wind drift, no. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/130854-wind-and-ballistics-system/ ^once upon a time, it was even being considered for the mod...
