Apparently it's more correctly transliterated as "Novoselki" Near Cherno

Novosyolki Must be new

To everyone with something to complain about, read this first.

We all know what's more important. What are we supposed to do, make 1000 "fix hacks plz" threads or stay mute until every major bug is fixed? We may as well pass the time discussing stuff we want to see fixed later. -
This is a really really bad ducking game

It's about the gun's accuracy, skill should be mostly up to the player... I don't need the game telling me "a few people say your character is supposed suck at aiming so I'll make your gun a dozen times less accurate to ensure you miss an appropriate amount of times". -
Yep, and there's like 225 pbos with many subfolders in each... Well, judging by the sheer amount of posts on the subject AND the configurations I have seen, I'm going to go with the majority on this one. I have a few rounds and a stock M4 currently, so I will do a short test and see what the result is, then compare to ArmA...

I don't like it. If accuracy sucks, they need to give a GOOD reason for it (hey, old AKM with worn-out, rusty bore, and it actually says "rusty bore" or "worn out rifling" when inspecting), etc. But higher end weapons in decent condition shouldn't have Revolutionary War accuracy. How to balance these higher end weapons? Don't... make them damn rare. The M4 should be end-game, not starter, and it should be GOOD. -
I doubt it. Trees sway in ArmA 3 as well but there's no wind in that game (the war simulator) and from what I heard Bohemia apparently wasn't considering adding any either. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQhJyw7KPoM

Would be nice if some of these servers could be blacklisted and disconnected from the public hive. On Reddit someone actually claimed to have come across a "PVP = BAN" server.

Actually it is, 0.1 dispersion is so large I could hardly believe it. Should have trusted my gut because that is apparently (?) for the M4 WITHOUT attachments. I assumed this meant standard. It actually meant an M4 with no stock and no forend. Dispersion for an M4 with standard stock and standard forend is about 0.01181 or 40.6 MOA. This is still a 3.4 foot circle at 100 yards, over 10 feet at 300 yards. -
There's a ton of files and I haven't checked it all, it does take time, and it's sometimes unclear how things work. From what I saw so far, no mention of condition. I'm not saying it doesn't affect it, but I don't know yet. People with pristine weapons have been complaining and specifically mentioned their weapon condition. Magpul + standard = 40% less dispersion than all standard. I will have to test at longer ranges, nonetheless I would expect dispersion to act exactly the same way as it does in ArmA, it's the same basic engine with the same weapon configurations. If it acts differently I'd assume there was a dispersion modifier hidden somewhere that I missed. Still doubt it's player error. The weapons simply aren't shooting accurate. We wouldn't see people complain otherwise. All I want is [a] authentic/realistic dispersions and authentic/realistic effects from weapon attachments (in some cases this may mean little or no effect). Bahaha! :P another thread posted while I typed this... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158115-accuracy-problem/ EDIT: make that TWO new threads. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158113-this-is-a-really-really-bad-fucking-game/ EDIT: THREE new threads about accuracy! http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158110-accuracy-should-be-next-patch/

Looks like your M4 has RIS forend and standard stock. You need parts. Also, just a hunch, try taking the bipod off the M4, how does the accuracy compare then?
-
How about some traditional dress that's more appropriate to the area?
-
Well, I am unaware if damage actually does anything to accuracy right now. I don't see anything about damaged vs pristine status, so I would assume it currently only depends what parts you have. Like I said, if you have all Magpul parts, you have way better accuracy, better than the Mosin, and about as good as the AKM in ArmA 2. Anyways, if the dispersion is this high, play skill doesn't have too much of a role... and nothing's more annoying than relying on a "roll of the dice". Instead of altering dispersion, if they had some kind of increased weapon sway, skilled players could click the mouse at the right time, although there still needs to be a realistic amount of dispersion. I should note right here that ACE mod did have increased weapon dispersion to simulate "combat" accuracy! Some people didn't like that. However, dispersion was still not nearly as high as it is in DayZ. I doubt it's just new players, most people have played the mod so are used to ArmA weapons. It's clear people are talking about the dispersion when they say one shot went left, one right, one up, one down. This isn't strange at all, it's perfectly expected when the dispersion values are way higher than ArmA, which everyone is used to. Personally I shot a few zombies from towers the other day, I got a few first round head shots from 150 meters or so, but I believe I had some Magpul parts at that time.

Cross post but whatever: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158038-mosin-and-m4-accuracy-test/ Probably relevant.

I don't think dispersion increases so yes. I would expect the 5-shot groups to be 5 times as small at 100. The same ProGamer from bistudio forums? "Richer" can mean different things to different people. I find ACE2 "richer" than vanilla ArmA. In certain areas I can let realism slide, more so for DayZ than ArmA, but in other areas I consider it important. I mean, there is realism like in flight sims, where you can't even fly without learning very complicated controls, and then there is "background realism" where the player doesn't have to do much, if anything. Part of the fun comes from my character using "realistically portrayed" weapons instead of guns that look real but don't have their real capabilities (or drawbacks). Part of the fun also comes from thinking how to improve said weapons. Realism aside, this has been noted quite a few times, both on Reddit and here we've had people making threads asking why their guns are inaccurate. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158079-mosin-with-long-range-scope/ http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/156059-m4-is-really-inaccurate/ http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/155638-weapon-inaccuracy/ http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154642-accuracy-of-the-guns-and-balota-military-spawns/ Lots more of those...

Right click zoom mechanic - why it's still there?
-Gews- replied to Aydjile's topic in General Discussion
They're only about 70% zoomed in :( makes no sense #JusticeForIronSights -
I want mostly hunting weapons, handguns, and Soviet weapons. I don't see how hunting weapons are low-tier though. These days any bolt-action hunting rifles are almost always scoped, the most popular scopes are variables, even the cheap ones are very accurate and expanding ammunition has considerably more devastating effects than FMJ...
-
Rubber bullets from what? They don't make rubber bullets for high-velocity rifles for obvious reasons. You'd have to use a shotgun. Even then, you'd only have a chance of knocking someone out with a direct headshot from very close range.

Have a Mosin and a PU Scope. Can I zoom the scope? How? What does bipod do?
-Gews- replied to venkman302's topic in General Discussion
The scopes currently have incorrect magnifications; only 1.39x for the PU and 1.56x for the ACOG. That's why it feels like it isn't zooming. -
I wasn't aware firearms were exclusive to Afghanistan.

All good ideas  -
Too many times to link them all. People don't like it because it forces their blank-slate character to react a specific way, most people want all the reactions to come from the player and not be decided for them. It also punishes a certain play style. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/118304-post-traumatic-stress-disorder/ http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/8534-killing-sprees-need-consequences/ http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/149388-anti-banditry/ http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/23511-side-effects-of-murdering/ Only a few examples out of dozens and dozens.

Right click zoom mechanic - why it's still there?
-Gews- replied to Aydjile's topic in General Discussion
I'll put it simply: the ZOOMED IN level is normal zoom, 1x zoom. The zoomed out level lets you see around yourself. It is not supposed to be the 1x. It's less than 1x. That's the way it's considered in all ArmA games. -
It appears to be the same as modding ArmA. Difference is, you can't implement any of the changes you make. ^_^ I think that's a good thing for the time being.
