How many zombies have you killed with your fists?
-Gews- replied to hookhead's topic in General Discussion
About as many as I've killed with weapons... -
Hell no. No special shit. You bought the game. Woop-de-doo.

It looks like they've chosen to model the AN/PVS-7B. However I also checked out a bunch of Russian and Eastern European night vision devices. LOMO Recon 2: uses 2x AA batteries. LZOS ON 1x20: uses 2x AA batteries. KATOD MNV-K: uses 1x AA battery. Older 1st-generation devices use unavailable batteries but it seems like most newer devices are more standardized.

Don't expect it to spawn anytime soon. Time Warner owns the copyright.

Everyone is suffocating! Gas masks issue.
-Gews- replied to combatcomm1's topic in General Discussion
I don't understand why people are running around wearing gas masks in the first place. There's no gas. Maybe they think it makes them look "badass". Maybe it's for the tiny bit of extra camouflage. Whatever it is, I'm not a fan. -
"The AN/PVS-7B/D night vision goggle is the current military issue night vision goggle for the US armed forces... the PVS-7B/D runs on two AA batteries which power the unit for more than 40 hours."

It's true. No "zoom" "Zoomed" in ACOG 4X scope The ACOG is 4X the zoomed in level. Therefore the zoomed in level is 1X magnification.
-
This stuff can kill you in one shot, I don't see any problem with one-shot kills provided(!), provided you hit the right place, and I don't mean only the head. I don't believe that was the actual reason they were removed.
-
Correct Just imagine if I was the one in charge of picking and choosing >: )

♪ Same for me / but not in DayZ ♫ Only if they're the right items. Example: most people don't want to see .50 caliber Desert Eagles (or maybe they do). For many players, silly stuff like that destroys the "authentic" vanilla atmosphere. This revolver is just as out of place as a Desert Eagle (maybe even more so) - being old doesn't excuse it from being inappropriate.

Your dream is my nightmare!

"It's the thought that counts." It's not hyper-realism, it's the opposite. And it's intentional. This is evident if one looks at the actual values.
-
It's still produced today because it remains a very effective and popular weapon still able to compete with the latest in handguns. That's not true for the Model 3 Russian. Adding to that, the .44 Russian cartridge is almost completely obsolete. It would make no sense finding these, even as one of those "super rare 1 per server" guns.
-
These things would both be fixed by realism.

What The Hell Is With The Slowdown Period For Zombies?
-Gews- replied to King of kong's topic in General Discussion
I also don't get why they sprint at you, then suddenly start walking. I suppose the only valid reason would be so people don't rage when a zombie sprints through several walls while the team is still fixing the collision and pathfinding. -
Dean says he wants the game to be "authentic" rather than strictly realistic. What does that mean? I think it means provoking certain emotions in players. One of those is fear. Guns are serious shit. Having a muzzle pointed in your direction is not a pleasant experience. Fortunately this is a game, but that also means players don't take things as seriously. Roll off a roof? Laugh about it. Knocked out by a fresh spawn? Laugh about it. Get shot...? Getting shot at is serious business, getting hit even more so, and in the zombie apocalypse without adequate medical care it's only going to that much worse. Imagine if every single gun was an instant kill anywhere on the body. Seeing someone with a gun would be a hell of a lot more nerve wracking, and nerve wracking it should always be. Suddenly it's not a wee M4 peashooter anymore, in your mind it transforms into a full-auto M107. A Makarov would be damn serious business. The emotions that end up being created are suddenly a lot more "authentic" eh? This is certainly NOT a suggestion, just some musing on weapon damage and the meaning of "authenticity". Fun fact: in ARMA 2, even the 5.56mm is a one-shot-kill anywhere on the body out to at least 800 meters on civilian characters.

You say the accuracy is misunderstood and show this video, but you have Magpul™ accuracy-enhancing parts installed... no one's been complaining about the accuracy when using Mapul™. We're complaining about the fact we have to use Magpul™ furniture in the first place.

Only this time even more so... just because the Tsarist army ordered a few doesn't mean you'd encounter them today. And I'm talking about in Russia! Chernarus isn't even close to Russia. Proof:

They should stay the same.

In that case it should be approximately: 100 +2.7 200 +1.9 300 +1.0 400 ZERO 500 -1.1 600 -2.6 700 -4.0 or alternatively +2 180 +1 300 0 400 -1 500 -2 575 -3 650 -4 700 Tip of the post should be about 775 m.

Since it's a 2D scope it also depends on your FOV settings found in My Documents/ArmA 2 Other Profiles/Username/Username.ArmA2OAProfile. fovTop=0.75; fovleft = 1.3333334

They should make an "Obrez" - as long as they do it properly - no accuracy (bullet won't be stabilized and will tumble in midair, worse than a musket ball), no usable sights, heavy, large, huge flash, terrible ballistics (bullet is reduced to about 1/2 velocity, 1/4 energy)... would probably make a nasty wound at short range due to the bullet keyholing but that's about it. In short, players should always want to dump their "Obrez" for the first real pistol they find. You wouldn't want one if you had access to a .357 Magnum or a high-capacity .45 with ammunition, they are more effective weapons. Should be the same in-game.
-
Are you sure? They should spawn with them. It makes little sense finding AK-74s and M4s without muzzle brakes and A2 flash hiders. You should never need to go looking for them. Anyways they sure don't do much right now...

Remove weapon inaccuracy due to damage.

Maybe it is... I'm imagining Rocket in an operating room, using a reamer to remove the rifling... -
Ruger 10/22--My future hopes (Archangel kit)

I can't stand these stocks but each to his own. Finding them in Chernarus would seem odd.
