I used photoshop. Is there an application where you can change the color balance in DayZ?

    Climbing through windows.

It would be nice if one could open windows just like doors. Maybe some kind of forcing it open like with a sledgehammer would be necessary (like locked doors) so that you don't get the "Open WIndow" action all the time inside of houses. This would somewhat counter the situations where you can't enter a building because someone is shooting out the door. It would also add to the stealth mechanism when we are able to sneak past zombies. Zombie on the street making it impossible to enter through door? Use a sledgehammer or a screwdriver to enter through a window in the back.

Pictures from one session. Yes, they are enhanced with Photoshop, but there are not cuts or pastes, it's all "real".

Robbed some dudes outside a policestation today. It was great. These are pictures from both of us (robbers). So it's from to perspectives. The pictures are just touched up a little bit. screen capture
  5. I've recently got a problem with my CPU, which is an i7 4770k OC'ed to over 4Ghz. Until now it has been running at around max 75c when gaming, but now (after cleaning it out) goes to max 95c when gaming. I bought the computer last winter and now I am out of ideas of what to do do cool it off. Im using a h80i watercooling system. Could it be the cooling paste wearing out already?

    -=BEARDS=-

Was thinking about the suggestion that the longer your character has survived the bigger beard you'll get. If you'd add the way it grows, by like if your character has killed alot of players in its life, the messier the hair and beard would get. And make like five six different types. Hero = controlled hair. Bandit = messy, torn hair. That would be like if a hero-ish guy moves up on me I'd notice that he looks nicer, more reliable and the bandit would look more evil and unreliable. It would change how you look dependant of the different choices you make in game.

This game has awesome potential. Let's hope they know what they're doing!
  8. I've been thinking about this since the start of the DayZ mod and I feel like it is getting a bit too little of attention. I read somewhere that the servers now got the ability to use time acceleration which is great, but I still don't see any accelerated servers. Either it's because something I haven't read about or it is because people are getting too much of a choice. Day and night cycle should not be something YOU choose but rather something that comes and goes - and you better survive it. Now I don't know the best timeframe but I guess something like 1 ½ hour = 24h in game. 30 minutes of daylight, 30 minutes of night and 30 minutes of dusk and dawn. Maybe more. This would make the players actually KEEP THE FLASHLIGHTS, cause right now people are tossing it at once. Imagine spawning in right before night time, sun is setting and it's getting cold. If you toss the flashlight you're done but it becomes a burden as soon as the sun comes up again. Wet clothes at night = death before the sun comes up. Night will bring opportunities to get stealthy, move unseen, but will still not be forever - no one will get bored of the darkness. It's not realistic but it is authentic. And as the team is adding hunting, this makes more sense. Hunting = best at dusk and dawn. As soon as the sun sets the predators start moving = people gets drawn to the cities. I say: Remove the daytime only servers. This is ruining the whole experience for me. There's no real change in the nature, nothing to worry about. This is also where your character could be getting "survived days & nights" and so on.
  9. I myself is a survival-fanatic and love everything that involves survivalism. I'm an employed soldier and know a fair amount about survival in the wild. Of course this is a game and things should be as Rocket says "authentic" and not "realistic". I think DayZ should make use of all those "tiny tricks" that make surviving easier. Simple things like making tea of pinetree's. Socks. Finding new or washing socks to prevent injuries and infections to the feet. Wet socks = injuries if traveling too long. In DayZ we travel ALOT and a simple thing like having to change socks every now and then (not so often to not ruin gameplay) would create another thing to take in consideration when planning to travel a long distance. Make socks and shoes be a two layer thing. The socks is put in the shoes and the shoes put on the player or something like that. Need to cross a river? Remove shoes, put in hands, cross, put on shoes = problem solved. i dont know, maybe this would be too hardcore. Make food stackable to a degree, like being able to stack 2 or 3 food cans. This makes more room for different clothing that you need to carry. I would also love if there were more fog "closer to the player". Maybe not to thick, but it would create a really good atmosphere. thin or thick fog in the valleys. Some kind of whisper, so that when talking in direct chat not always reveals your position. Being within 1m or 2m could make whispering be heard. Being able to show map to friend(s). Make us able to show the map to a friend within 1m and being able to show each other where to move and make notes. More radios. Maybe this would make more players play together without Teamspeak or Skype. Looking forward to be playing with my friends, grouping up in the woods outside a town, whispering and planning on map about what to do and where to regroup if shit hits the fan(s). Talking over the radios to syncronize movement, cover and information. Thermos to store warm water - Keeping warm in cold weather without having to stay by a fire (to a certain degree). That's all I can come up with at the moment. More to come.
  10. I've been thinking about how to make the player value the characters life and the gear being what protects it, not the other way around (as it is right now). One way is to create some kind of "talent" tree(s). Either based on how many times you repeat an action or for how long the character has been alive, kilometers traveled etc. (active hours of character). It's important that the skills don't kill the real skills though. Skills like a small increase in stamina or carrying capacity in weight, resistance to sickness and bleed-chance, creating different kinds of protection or clothing. How fast to apply bandages or how fast to put up a fire. It's very important that we value the life of the character and not the gear. It's a game changer!

I've found the courier backpack very usefull. Though there's only a few slots it blends better with the surroundings. Got the feelings when I played today.

    DayZ story telling!

I haven't seen any story-topic yet, so I figured we should make one! Let's tell the amazing stories that unfold in the world of DayZ here. If you know what server this happened on, please tell. I'll start with one. 2013 - 12 - 31. Server: Unknown. Robbery @ Green Mountain. I sighted the tower of Green Mountain and thought I'd search the place for a new backpack, since my hunting backpack was ruined. Sneaked my way to the entrance to the base. Saw two guys standing in the doorway to the military building. Both were carrying weapons, so I thought "If I'm going to rob these guys I'll have to be very quick!". Made my way up to the two guys, aiming the gun. Said something like "Drop your guns and hands up!". One of the dudes listened and put his hands up, while the other fled back into the building. Took the other guy outside and yelled "If you do not come outside without a gun in ten second I'll fucking kill your friend." I start counting out loud. Suddenly the guy who fled comes rushing out with an axe, so I shoot him. I actually said that I was sorry about having to kill him, but he had an axe in his hands rushing towards me. The other guy is now lying on the ground, dropping all of his stuff onto the ground. But as I try to loot the other guy I see in the corner of my eye that the living dude is picking up a gun. So I put 30 rounds in his chest. It's sad that it had to go down like this. My intentions was to take some food and maybe some gear for my M4. If you see this, it was your fault it had to be like this. I really felt bad having to shoot your friend as he came out the building.

    SA Hotspots

Agreed, though NW and NE airfield is populated. Everytime me and my team go to these places, we're around six to seven people, and we count on going out of there with two people dead. This is happens almost everytime, though once a whole six man team got outsniped by one lone sniper at a barn... that was embarassing.

    Pending Update Rev. 0.29.113822

Holy shit! Imagine the heart rate you'd get when getting into a firefight at the second island. Getting that "You're dead." message would be a danger for ones physical health...
  17. Alright. First, I know it's an alpha and therefor I am here just to either remind or suggest. I've been an enemy to the sprinting for as long as the alpha has been out. My friends just sprint across the map like santa claus on speed. It really, really DESTROYS the feeling and meaning of this game, to me. I know, this will probably change in the long run, but I just feel that this is gamebreaking, actually. Really gamebreaking. You sprint faster than a car, you never get tired. The only negative effects of it is that you get thirsty and hungry faster and that your aim is bad... But really, it's not enough. You lose half the game when sprinting across the map. You lose the eerie feeling of the forests, you lose the long trips, and there is really no hard work at all. It's like 1. Sprint across the map. 2. Find a gun, find food and water. 3. Sprint everywhere. And no one has a chance of either killing you or stealing your things. I think that sprinting should be somewhat of a 20-30 second to 1minute sprint, depending on what you are carrying, and when you get tired your jogging should be lowered to a slow jog. If you keep sprinting your character should start vomiting and then passing out. Today I was sneaking up on a village. Out of the corner of my eye I spot a player sprinting along the road like a f******* train, and that got me here today, whining about this.

    Walking, jogging, sprinting.

I see all of your points, everyone. I just feel that people sprint from one side of the map to the other, stop and shoot random dude in the face... and it's turning me off a bit. But just a bit... I'm in love with this game. If this game is about survival then sprinting should be "last option" or more like "use when needed". Jogging should be left kind of where it's at, as the game would be considered too hardcore if you'd have to walk everywhere. Really looking forward to see what this game will become!

    Across Chernarus.

Thought I'd post some of the screenshots I've been taking. Sometimes I can't help myself from starting taking photos of everything. Spending the night at NW Airfield. Survived this one. Exploring Chernarus with my brother. Operation Flashpoint anyone? Imagine DayZ on Everon. Epic. Sneaking into a town. Found a new place today. Great work, Rocket! Chernarus got some real exploring value. The sights can get pretty amazing. Atmospheric. Atmospheric.
