Got an ACOG sight from a dead body today. Its condition was pristine. But when I try to aim through it the character sort of looks just beneath the sight, making it impossible to see anything. What should I do?

I like this! Then you could have use for doping drugs too.

Actually, I think it somewhat is Gerandar. I think it somewhat is...

Oh shit, Frosti. Taking away jogging would be so hardcore that even my core that is so hard it breaks hardcore metal into pieces would split into molecules. I've tried walking across the map. It gets pretty boring after two minutes. Khad: Yes, therefor you should be able to sprint BUT get very tired after a short period of time, just like in real life.

The RV engine is the worst engine ever made.
calle replied to EchelonEffect's topic in General Discussion
Every person who says that DayZ is laggy etc. have forgotten that they bought an Alpha at a reduced price. Yes, I know, the engine itself is a different story. What you are forgetting is that in Arma 2 and Arma 3 the engine has to calculate everything at once, every single bullet, reload, step that the AI does. Have a look at it again. The AI does. You can easily fit more than 300 AI's on the map in ArmA. Rocket has said that he has rewritten/removed this, and not only rewritten, we are not using any "soldier AI" anymore. This is no longer a military simulator. DayZ is not even optimised clientside yet. You'll never find an engine today that does the things the RV engine does. -
Are you getting hungry / thirsty too fast again? Here is why and how to solve this
calle replied to nudelwalker's topic in General Discussion
This is true! And keep an eye on what you are eating/drinking! Eating cereal makes food level go up but water level lower. Drinking unpurified pondwater is also a bad move, which I've learnt the hard way. Don't sprint everywhere either. -
Yes, I've also noticed that if you play the cards right the hunger and thirst "problem" are not such big problems anymore. I hope that they've fixed aiming down sights while crouching or crawling. The sights gets blocked by something...

You know THAT feeling. Took a screenshot and edited it somewhat in photoshop... Still breathtaking.

You sound a lot like Eminem, actually. Good job!

When it stops putting up more servers the whole forum will get silent. Everyone just waiting for it... Like watching a bomb go from 3 to 0 and just waiting for that explosion... That never comes.

Game version 113466. For how long has this version been "live" so to speak? I wonder, if you acutally had the game, would you be able to join one of those servers? LIke, are they actually up and running right now?

I'm sure there's some bullshiting around here too.

I've been following this game since the very beginning despite my low account usage. I think it's childish of every single person complaining about "lying", "bad game" and all the other non-sense that is spoken of here. I think Rocket and his employees need more respect and most of all gratitude and support instead of bullshit. This is the game I've been wanting to play since I don't know when and Rocket & co. is the reason it's becoming reality, I just felt the need to log in here and tell Rocket and his co-workers about how grateful and excited I am about their work. Even the mod has got gameplay value I've not found in any other game. I say again, ANY OTHER GAME. Of course the game has got it's ups and downs and I recognize all the things from even Operation Flashpoint to now. Every single person complaining about this game, and NO, I'm not talking about the criticism, I'm talking about the pure trash-talking, should make their own game - Or maybe you don't even have the skills to do it? Me and my friends look at this page every day just to see if the game has been released yet but also to read on every single piece of information - because this is the game that puts every other of them to the test. Keep on going Rocket & co. You've got something groundbreaking going on, and by the looks of it you'll earn quite a bit on it too!

First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
calle replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Now, I haven't read every single post on every single page in this thread. I myself consider myself a legit 3'rd person user, as Rocket stated. What i use 3'rd for is for all the common things like travel, looting, exploring and just being able to see what my character looks like. Being able to see what my character looks like makes me value it more. Especially with all the new cothing and animations this is even more true. I guess the reason 3'rd has become so widely used is probably because of the clunky movements and weird FOV in Arma 2. There's no weight to the animations and objects which makes first person feel uncomfortable and un-natural. A possible but not perfect solution is to keep the 3'rd person perspective and make it as Rocket stated; related to stance. But also make it not possible to fire your gun (forced lowered gun) while in 3'rd perspective view. This makes those exploiters HAVE to turn the corner with first person view active if they're going to shoot you. Sure it's not perfect at all, but it creates another problem for the exploiters. It also makes the whole interaction with other players a bit more nice to look at (3'rd person view). -
Just had an idea of making weapons take less space in your inventory (bags) and weapon degradation. What if you made it possible to dismantle a weapon making it into 4-5 pieces instead of one big, non-fitable, gun to put in your backpack. Scenario: You've got an AK-47, and you find another AK/M16 etc. Then it would be very realistic and usefull to be able to dismantle one weapon to make it take less space like: full weapon = 10 slots & dismantled weapon 6 slots). If you'd be to combine the weapon again it would take around 50 seconds or something like that (I know by being a professional military that you can do it alot faster, but everyone is not). This would also add to weapon degradation... If one part of the gun is being weared out you could easily change for example the barrel. Here you can take crafting into account. Like putting "weapon cleaning kit" on top of a gun part it would put it back to "clean" state or something.

Hello! I am a true survival/horror fan, and I've been thinking about how to make the game more difficult and by that i want to focus on the environment part. Right now we're walking through the woods with no other fear than for other players. What if you added some kind of pack animals like dogs. In the light of day there should be no danger walking through the forest as the dogs are hiding/easier to spot/not hunting due to them not being in a greater advantage. But as dusk comes these animals trying to survive will hunt for food. Let's get one thing clear, these dogs should not be taking over the fear of zombies so lets make a very rare spawn and make them come in packs of 4-6. Also, they should be afraid of fires and lightsources as road flares, fires and flashlights. Maybe even let them decide if them (6) vs players (3) is actually winable. Make them be drawn to dead bodies (not zombies) as players and animals. Imagine yourself scavanging the empty streets of a town and suddenly see a pack of dogs eating on a dead player or maybe eating things inside a store etc. Having a friendly dog should make it easier to know if something is sneaking up on you. English is not my native language.

I'm green/red colorblind and do also find it hard sometimes. What I do is look at the sky to see it clearer.

Just watched Sidestrafe's videos on Youtube as usual... Found this gameplay of Iron Front. Check that map out... Check that weather out... It's perfect zombie weather... Also it looks like a great zombie-mod-map! It's got that perfect mood set. Any thoughts?

Nothing ground-breaking! Just something I made for fun... Planning on making a channel on youtube where I will release atmospheric videos... No commentary, just pure gameplay (communications with my friends though). Focusing on that eerie feeling and lonelyness! Great game, even greater mod. :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nouovDFKK6Y

I have become a bandit again... Why?

Alright, first of all: Thank you for this amazing mod! It is what has been my dream game since an early age! 1. ZOMBIES: I know this is a very hard thing to balance. Right now, at least on some servers I've noticed that Zombies ( at least too many) spawn by even the smallest shed in the middle of the woods. I dont know, this makes me think "Oh, a village/shed/anything related to human creations, i know there are z's..." and that makes the game a bit to predictable. It should be like "hmm, this town looks cleared, lets walk through it and See what i may find!". It makes your senses go sky high because you dont know if theres a zombie around the corner as to which you now know that there WILL BE a zombie around the corner. Empty towns also make room for stupid and clumsy mistakes of lowering your guard. This takes me to the ideas of zombie placement. Imagine going into a small town thinking "this place must have been cleared or the population got away in time." but suddenly find an enire barn filled with Zombies which attacks me because being too loud! Well of course cities should be crawling with z's, but maybe not every single street and backyard. But if reducing the amount of zs the overall lethality of them should be greatly increased! 2. COMMUNICATION: The chat - Be gone! Instead implent a radio system. Split the map up in 5km2 areas, whereas every person WHO HAS FOUND A RADIO AND BATTERY WITH RANDOM AMOUNT OF BATTERY LIFETIME and checked in on the same channel should be able to communicate through VON/chat. So the radio will connect to the people within the same "area". Look at this as some kind of homemade communicationsystem made by survivors. Maybe place antennas on the map to be even more realistic looking. Dont make these radios something common and saving battery by turning it off, so that you can tell people that you need help in critical situations. LOOT: simple, right now I find finding food, water, ammo and weapons way too easy. At least lower the ammo a little more just to make shooting something you have to plan. I will probably come up with more, but i can't right now...
