Tried everything, still unplayable due to FPS

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I know there are a lot of threads like this one on the forum, i've read them, and believe me I have tried every solution there is to fix FPS issues in dayZ but I can't get DayZ to run properly on my laptop.

Laptop... yeah I know not the best machine to play games on, but I'm able to run BF3, Arma 2 and almost every other game on it on low-med settings 25-30 fps.

In dayZ however I get max 5 FPS, doesn't matter what settings I change, it doesn't go any higher then 5.

I've tried playing on the lowest settings , memory: Default, post proc: off, 640x640 on both etc.

I've tried changing the notepad files of OA and arma/character.

I've tried changing my Nvidia settings for Arma.

Hell I even tried using game booster...

to start off:

specs:

Dell XPS 15 1920x1080.

GPU: GeForce GT 525M

CPU: Intel i7 6300QM

Ram: 6GB

I know the GPU is terrible, and I regret buying it everyday but according to: canirunit.com I should be able to run dayZ on minimum/medium and even recommanded settings without any problems.

My laptop also has an internal Intel GPU, which I have turned off for ARMA2... could it be that dayZ just ignores it and runs it with the shitty internal GPU anyway?

things I haven't tried out yet:

Ramdisk

disable Hyperthread in bios.

does anyone know other solutions? I usually just play dayZ on my PC but I would also like to be able to play dayZ when I'm not at home for a while.

Hopefully you guys can help me out,

Thank you.

yeah tried that, I use: -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -mod=@dayz -world=empty -winxp

I use the same settings on ARMA 2 and OA , and those run at 30 fps.

I'm not sure how the Nividia dual gpu thing works with the on board graphics card and the dedicated, I had to go into my bios and change it from dynamic to fixed because even though I had games assigned to the dedicated graphics card, they were still trying to use the onboard one instead.

shameless self bump, sorry

can't turn off the intergrated GPU in the bios because the option does not exist. ( GPU isn't even mentioned in the bios )

got to love Intel Optimus...

but I think the problem is that dayZ doesn't "understand" that my geForce is my primary GPU, so it just uses the CPU intergrated GPU instead.

ARMA2 and OA don't seem to have that problem since I can select them in my NVIDIA control panel and change settings, I thought this would also fix dayZ but for some reason it doesn't.

aka I need a way to force dayZ to use my dedicated GPU. but how :S NVDIA panel doesn't work, and BIOS doesn't even give me the ability to do so.

Forgot to ask you're using retail or steam-version. I have had to make a batch-file to make DayZ run "proper" through steam. Im oot&aboot, atm but I'll link the instructions when I get back (couple of hours).

  1. Download and install beta patch from http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php (Latest patch is in the green field top of page)
  2. If you are met with a "Password screen" then choose the top version on page (Not in the green field)
  3. Go to the Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead directory (for example C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead) and right-click -> edit on .cmd file "_runA2CO_beta.cmd". Search for ":run" near the end of the file. Add ";@dayz" without quotes to "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca".
  4. Run "_runA2CO_beta.cmd" and enjoy playing!

You may create a new shortcut to "_runA2CO_beta.cmd"

?
