Gonna need some help here.

Hi,

So, my 9 day character (4th life ingame) just died upon spawn in. :( It's an alpha, so I'm not too QQ about it. :) I did manage to get just over 500 zombo kills, so thats a good benchmark to have set.

Problem is, I was then spawned in to the debug zone. Strangely enough, all I spawned in there with was the 24-slot coyote backpack I had on my guy prior. Completely empty inventory otherwise.

1. What direction do I run to get back to civilization?

2. Can I make it back there without food or water?

3. Should I just let my guy starve/die of thirst, and hope I spawn in a normal spot?

4. How long will my old body stay in it's location with all my stuff on it?

Thanks!

Edit: come to think of it, it would be great if there were some kind of tower placed in this debug zone so we could jump off it and kill ourselves immediately.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately the youtube video I checked out kind of steered me in the wrong direction. So I ran and ran and then died. No matter!

I respawned in Cherno, which incidentally is the first time I've been in that city (pretty big!), and thankfully there was no one sniping. I gathered enough gear there to support the trek back to my body, which thankfully was still there (without the flies sound, strangely enough). I was able to reclaim all my goodies!

It was rather fun to be back to nothing there for awhile, and without NVG's and it getting dark, it was a harrowing task to get back to where I once belonged.

FYI, if you want to avoid death next time when it says 'xxxx has died' as soon as you spawn just abort. if you abort rather than respawn then next time you join a different server you should be back to normal (happened to me twice today, still got all my stuff though).

What I saw klesh as been killed, I hit alt+f4. I logged in again to the same server and it happened a 2nd time. 3rd time I figured all was lost so I just let it happen, whick then spit me out at the debug area.

So, was it this issue with the server, or the game in general?

There's a thread about it on here, something to do with joining a server running a different version of Dayz to you which can do this I think. If you abort and then join a different server its fine.

Interesting. Indeed, the server that I was on does have a different version of the Arma beta. I'm on the latest 97771/71 (because I figured that was what one was supposed to do), and the server is on 97448/51. Sometimes I wont be let into a server if I have a different version, and sometimes I will. I couldn't figure out why that was. This particular server is always smooth as silk for me, and it has my tents on it, so that why I keep coming back to it. Maybe I should rollback my Arma beta version?

If you get debugged, just relog and you'll respawn on the beach with whatever you had on you in debug. It's different for everyone what stays. Some get all their stuff, some lose their backpack, some lose everything but their backpack, some lose everything, I've even heard of people losing gillie suits but not their gear (unconfirmed). It's a really strange bug that I don't know the exact cause of, but it'll happen from time to time.

Once you're back in the real world, your body with all your gear should be in the last place you were when you logged out, assuming you get to it fast enough. I didn't realize this when it happened to me, so I just had the Coyote backpack as well, thankfully TMW had a chopper team on the teamspeak at the time who were happy to give me brand new guns and gear.
