Does your character save individually on the different maps?

I searched this but everything I typed came up with to much to sift through. But if i start a Lingor Island character, will my normal dayz map character be effected, and then if I go back to the normal map will my Lingor Island guy be effect? same with the rest of the maps.

No, all maps save independently of each other.

It saves to the HIVES. So if you play on public servers your character data is stored on the public HIVE and will be the same on every public server. If you play on a Private server, your progress is saved on whatever HIVE they are using. Usually that means it is just for that server but some have multiple servers sharing a HIVE meaning you can swap servers and keep the same character.
