The Most Overlooked Part of DayZ - What will happen to it in the Standalone?

in reality we will learn the new infected and how to deal with them and then move onto the real threat, a guy with painkillers who had the audacity to run into my FOV.

You see, the thing is almost no one wants that to happen! We want zombies to be a threat permanently, not something that gets improved in the standalone but with time get's easy to deal with.

I want the zombies to be the real threat in most situations and that other players become a secondary threat and not the main one as it is now.

The zombies will be updated more than just for initial standalone I'm sure. The DayZ alpha/beta/release timeline isn't going to be over quickly, there will be a LOT of new techniques and discoveries before then.

Some of the changes are bound to end up working less well than the Devs hope, but that's what trial and error is all about.

As I've said before, This is only the VERY start of DayZ.

How does one make the decision what the most important and overlooked part of DayZ is? I could give a crap about zombies and/or zombie ai if script injection is better protected.

The biggest problem with zeds are... I go out to a barn in the middle of nowhere. Suddenly fifteen zeds spawn. WTF??? Fifteen zeds next to a barn in the middle of nowhere? It doesn't make sense. In the city, yes, in the middle of nowhere, no. No, no, no!

Usain Bolts I can deal with, to a certain extent. Well, unless they have eagle eye sight... Some of them have that too. Or are so smart that they follow me friggin everywhere. I don't like that either.

I kind of like how zed behaviour can indicate where other players are. I don't think that should be removed - especially on really big maps. But I do not like how zeds only spawn around players (and not around vehicles). It makes it too easy and convenient to find players. Also, zeds shouldn't immediately respawn if you kill them. Rather it would be much cooler if they actually gravitated to the noise from other areas. Also another reason to abolish the system where zeds only spawn around players (although I realize how this is a challenge due to lag, and so on - but they need not render anywhere else than where players have vision, for instance).

Odd zed behaviour: Good indication of other player.

Regular zed behaviour: Should not be an indicator of other player.

In a zombie game the most important part are zombies. The problems with hacking have been talked about extensively in the forums and by rocket himself, the zombies in the other hand have not hence why I felt I needed to create this thread.

Yes the zombies should be the biggest threat in DayZ. Maybe they should be able to grapple you as well to slow you down. Something needs to be done to make you fear them but you also need a chance to sneak around them - right now their detection mechanism is way to sensitive but it has to be because they're shit and no threat.

The whole point of a zombie game is zombies - if someone doesn't give a crap about them why bother playing a zombie apocalypse.

His point is that there isn't much point in playing standalone if the hacking is going to be as rampant as it is atm. Im completely with that. There is no point playing a game that will involved getting griefed everytime you join a server because they can.

The reason zombies dont spawn at vehicles right now is because they didn't want someone driving at max speed in a pickup truck spawning the whole server and crashing it. This will not be an issue for standalone because of the zombie optimizations. So expect to see zombies spawning at vehicles.
