Did you pirate the game or buy it from steam or is it a retail copy?

If you rented the game, then the CD-Key may already have been used. ( which makes the game useless online. )

Start both games as administrator individually or if using steam run that as admin before trying to join servers.

The CD-Key might not be registered to Windows Registry.
