How do people steal peoples CD keys?

I only would like to know because somebody wants me to join their game really bad,starting to think that he wants me CD key...He is that kind of person that would steal it. Only had the game a few months. Does he have to send me a program or a link or something?

I got mine stolen by downloading a program. I'm not sure what all the ways to steal someone's key is but I think there are quite a few.

People trying to download hacks or other programs then coming up with the next lame excuse on why it's not working or stolen.

Key in registry. Virus gets into registry and steals key. Virus can be gotten from *** websites and also some downloads of things such as Dayz Lingor, Dayz Utes, Dayz Takistan, etc.

Basically, use common sense.

This is an example of someone trying to steal my CD key. He said he could edit the files to Arma work on my PC with lower graphics.

Anyway, stupidly I believed him and sent him 5 euros, then he asked for my .reg file which had my CD key in it. I realised what he was doing and stopped it. Although, he did keep my money.

So he was trying to scam money AND my CD key.

If you give him your CD-key, he doesn't have to steal if from you or fool you into downloading a virus, because you gave it to him willingly. If you give him your CD-key, he'll most likely sell it to someone who already have been banned.

Not everyone who wants your unique CD-key, your creditcard info or your private password is your friend.

Not everything that sounds too good to be true, is always true. Infact often it's not.

Only download things you trust. For example, only download other Dayz maps off of Dayz commander, otherwise you run the risk of stolen CD keys.
