Spawn in groups.

Recommended Posts

I think it would be a good idea that in the "MultiplayerSetup" screen you should have a choice to join/create a group. This would be good if you wanted to play with your friends(if you have any ;) ) so you would spawn together and gather supplies :beans: and also you won't have to run miles to find each other and die as soon as you do, saving a lot of time and effort. :)

You spawn alone, you die alone. No need to spawn together, you could meet up with friends and meet up at a preset arranged time in order to spawn together from your last playing session.

The amount of abuse by being able to spawn near other players will kill the game for team players. I could by your theory spawn into a group and kill you all off. Say you and your mates have TS it wont be hard to find each other. Whereas I find a better experience when you bump into other friendly players and have a good session together non planned.

Play the game as it is meant to be played, find your friends and go together after finding them. what you do after that is your own making.

Why not... I dont get why people are so against this... if group dies why woudnt they able to spawn together if they are ALL dead.

And for first spawn, how come every survivor "wakes up" alone?

Washed up on shore alone, why not in a lifeboat with a group of mates?

Ofc you shoudnt be able to spawn ON someone, that would be retarted.. but I dont see problem with spawning with friend or two?

Why would it be a problem for someone?

Rocket said he had tought something like this.

You wont gain anything from it, you will only be a bigger target for people and it would be harder for group to go stealth through towns. Specially thinking standalone as the zeds will be more of threat you could be better of alone, but why not grant the change to spawn with a friend for someone who wants to.

Its the same if you just ran to each other or find some random dude... hello.

I know it makes sense if you could spawn with friends on the coast, but how is this possible to make? Time limit of 30 seconds to join the friend or some complex spawn area thingy?

If they are implementing the group function in SA... that could be used. Maybe ingame friendlist etc to make party and then just join with party?

If you know the system bf3 uses, something like that.

or just in server lobby, make group and spawn.

If everyone is dead or newspawns they will be spawned at same loc, if anyone is alive he will spawn last saved loc and newspawn at somewhere else with each other.

I don't like the idea that will ruin the fun

And how?

I dont get when people just say "no" or "I dont like it"... without any reasoning.

Rocket has also said being alone and lost is part of the adventure.

I used to think spawning as a group would be helpful, but in my experience, the group find better gear when we salvage seperately and meet up later.

Maybe this is the exact sort of thing that should be trialled in the Mod first, I just don't think it would turn out as good as it initially appears.

Well thats the point.. if scavenging alone get group better geared why would it be bad to spawn as a group and get "less" geared and more lives to loose.

But again you cant really test this in mod, this is affected by lots of things like zed behaviour... which gonna be ALOT differend in SA(I hope) and there for differend balance..

But again, most of the people woudnt be alone at the "start" if shit would hit the fan so would be some what authentic.

By these post it seems that spawning as a group is only a bad thing so It could be an option.. mostly people are agains stuff that gives you unfair advantage in this case it would be quite the opposite...

I believe you are a survivor that's washed up along shore. If that's the case, I doubt if you and your friends were together you would all survive washed up on the coast alive. I believe that's the reasoning for spawning alone, story-wise. I don't know if they'll take the same route in the SA.

Maybe there could be a feature that works as follows:

Pre-spawn (if all your friends are starting fresh together) you can set up a group so you can join the server together. Now from this group, the server will randomly place you on the map, let's say you have a group of 5. Maybe 2 of you spawn together and the rest are scattered. Maybe 2 groups of 2 in different locations and the last one in another location as well. Etc. Etc. This would all be handled by the server and would probably be random (of course with some guidelines in the code) So technically you have to still find each other but there's a chance of you at least having a buddy for the adventure.

It's the only compromise I see working because realistically, what are the chances that you're together with all of your friends when the infection spread?

Not to mention, I thoroughly enjoy the adventure of finding my friends. Nothing like finally seeing a friendly in the distance after all the tension of running around alone. (cue slow motion running music.)

maybe, but you actually have to join them, since this game is "authentic" you cant just spawn in there with your friends, most of the fun is to gear up, remember "authentic", this will make you understande what the devs are aiming at

No groups, just promotes the notion of pvp and unfairly handicaps those without a friend....

Nothing ever needed to promote PvP, the players took it with them when they washed up on shore. <_<

And the only handicap for new spawns vs. other new spawns, is luck of the loot. (1 guy with a hatchet by himself against 2 guys with 1 hatchet between them is still a pretty fair fight)

I think Zeppa gets it. Beginner scavenging puts more pressure on resources, so the advantage of having a few buddies with you cancels itself out.

You need to feed and arm every person, and the more survivors you have with you, the more likely you are to get spotted by Zeds or bandits.

I have never liked the idea of spawning in groups, I can see how it is useful as I do play with a clan now of around 10 people, but it would just take away the whole fun of dieing then being back on the coast with nothing.

What fun is there if you die...then you just hit re-spawn near (never on) player1 and you spawn like 250m away and you can gear up instantly... for me that shite and ruins the game... once stand alone comes out aswel and Zed's are more dangerous this will also make it more fun and thrilling :D

Could go on more about this but my lunch break is over :)

Just my opinion...

Sum it up...No...this is a horrible idea...sorry :)

Sum it up.. you have completelly misunderstood the idea. Read again.

No one have suggested that you would be able to spawn ON TO someone or even near.

ONLY NEWSPAWNS can spawn as a group at the coast, if you die you WOUDNT BE able to spawn on someone that is alive.

So exsample you FIRST spawn EVER, when standalone comes out, you could start with a friend OR when you BOTH DIE you could spawn together again. if only OTHER one of you dies, you WILL spawn ALONE. comprende?

But...That means we wouldn't have to run to find each other? What would we do after that!!!

lol, how would it make it easyer... for the other people to shoot your ass?

When you spawn in group you will be badly geared for longer time, than if you would spawn alone and both of you can loot their own towns and get better gear and then meet up... that makes pvp easyer. Its always harder when you have more mouths to feed. It would make pvp a little harder or wont change it at all.

exsample 2 parties.

Group1: 2 people spawn in differend cities loot them get ok gear when there is much more items for that "group", after that they meet up and go "pvp" with ok gear.

Lets say P1 finds enfield and can of beans, P2 find makarov and soda. thats their gear when they met up

Group2: 2 people spawn togerther and loot the city, they find same gear as the 1 person of group 1, and they have to split everything between 2 persons so they are half as geared.

Same scenario this party will have eighter enfield + bens OR makarov + soda... easyer pvp with less guns and suplies?

Many friends of mine don't play this game because of lack of team play. Being murdered or have to go somewhere by the time we meet up. instead of drawing attention by running along the coast, we should be able to start playing together immediately. It is a choice to spawn together or not, if it isnt forced on the players then it shouldn't be an issue at all.

I have mixed opinions on this idea, but let's look at it this way. DayZ is trying to set the feeling of "You've washed ashore on this island, now go.". If you look at the situation from that kind of perspective, the ability to choose who you spawn with seems kind of silly. I mean, realistically, it's ridiculous to expect you and that perfect group are going to wash up near each other. And yes, I know overall this is just a game, and it would usually be an expected online feature, but I feel it somewhat breaks that immersion DayZ is trying to set.

Just my two cents.
