Can I get a new CD Key?

So before everyone goes, "DON'T TRUST EVERYTHING ON THE INTERNET" "USE COMMON SENSE" And all that type stuff, what I did I didn't think completely through. I usually don't download just anything and for some reason I didn't put a thought into what I downloaded. I downloaded something that was suppose to increase my FPS in DayZ and I ended up getting my CD Key stolen. I contacted BOI and they replied telling me what to do but not guaranteeing that I will get a new CD Key. I was wondering if it is possible to buy another copy of Arma II OA and normal Arma and get a new CD Key. I do understand that standalone is coming soon but I also enjoy playing normal Arma itself along with other mods.

Yea I saw that yesterday in the thread that is now in the graveyard, important lesson is never trust something like that without looking into it but most of us have downloaded something we should not have downloaded at one point in our lives. Buying a new copy will work but you will not keep your current characters, otherwise follow the steps they provided so you minimize the risk of losing your current copy before you purchase a new game.

I felt pretty bad for you when I saw that thread man, tough luck there and just use it as a way to learn who to trust online. It is not like every youtube video has a bad link but if you notice it is new try not to be one of the first to try it out and always read through a significant amount of the comments to ensure you can get a broad spectrum of voices saying the download is legit (people will create burner accounts to talk up the download but usually these are easy to spot and will be contradicted by real opinions).

Thanks. It's not too big of a deal that I loose my character considering the fact that my character will probably be filled up with hacked gear and stuff soon.

Oh yea forgot to say you should use a new steam account if you bought the original through steam, or at least research how to get the new copy to work properly. That kind of depends if your old CD Key was globally banned but making a new steam account for just that game will work without any research, or you can just buy the game from another legitimate source and not have to deal with that problem.

DayZ only uses the Operation Arrowhead key. You can buy a new one directly from BI for $20:

It will probably be a while before your CD-key is global banned by BE. Most of the people who are in the business of stealing CD-keys sell them to cheaters for a few dollars. The cheater using the key will usually not be banned until he gets careless and BE comes out with an update that detects the cheat he is using. Alternatively, whoever stole the key may just give it away for free or sell the same one to multiple people. In that case the key will be banned as soon as BE recognizes that multiple players are using the same one. At that point the key will be blacklisted and anyone attempting to use it will be kicked for invalid/stolen cd-key or guid.

To prevent something like this from happening again in the future here is some good advice to avoid viruses and malicious software:

- don't click on advertisements or popups (i.e. you won a new ipod, bestbuy shopping spree,try free 30 day trial, click to meet your soul mate, etc.)

- don't open emails from unknown senders

- don't click on links or images in spam/scam emails

- don't download attachments in spam emails

- in general avoid downloading anything from an unreliable source such as an .mp3 from the

first link in a google search or software from a blog site.

- don't install antivirus / antispyware software or scanners when prompted by popups.

Spyware often disguises itself as antivirus software and sometimes even imitates windows

update/windows defender to appear legitimate

I also suggest using a browser like firefox or chrome with adblock so you are less likely to accidentally click on malicious links. If you haven't already you probably also want to run a full virus scan with a good AV like malwarebytes: http://www.filehippo...s_anti_malware/

That's actually what I did. I ran into elektro and fired off several rounds of my M107 then got sniped XD

Most likely the same douche on both of the posts. You should log into your stolen character and then go to tall buildings, jump off, and then log out so the guy who has the key will log in falling off the sniper towers in Cherno. Just a way to get a laugh.

Well my key finally got banned. He only managed to get on to my character a couple times. The last two weeks I was able to play was fun. At this point I'll just wait until standalone to get DayZ. Arma III is coming out soon too so I'll have some good normal arma play on that.
