Visual friendly/neutral/hostile player system for standalone

Recommended Posts

We need some visual system (blue/red/grey strips on your hip for instance) in order to distinguish friendly players (your own clan for example) from "neutrals" or hostile players. This would be extremely useful in many sort of occasions or later when a certain levels of access would be required for clan items/resources.

Such "set standings" system is not easy to develop quickly but you can start with some easy to handle player by player set standings system which any player can access and add friendlies he'll see with blue stripes on the hip. The ultimate goal later would be to have actual clans in the game and these standings to be set on "clan" level. You know what I mean devs - like in EVE Online.

Yeah - my hope to survive would be that the guy 600m away on the hill with the sniper will hear me LOL ... and if there is 2-3 survivors running around near me?

or you are telling me we have to use TS or Mumble or else? - everyone is using voice and regardless of this very often friendlies get shot due to the panic, etc.

No, we don't need that in my honest opinion. It would take away from the "you're in a real life zombie apocalypse" feeling. The skins are bad enough but certainly a better solution than the typical COD style good/ bad guy distinction. You don't see people painted in red cos they're criminals or blue cos they're doctors or what have you in real life, do you?

If you're in a clan chances are high you use teamspeak and the like anyway and if you can't figure out who's the good guy and who's the bad guy and where every one of your buddies is located on TS or similar voice chat programs, well, you can't be helped. It's not rocket science.

This seems just another way of crying about bandits killing everyone and everything in sight... so "we" need to make them stand out so "we" don't get killed by them (so easily).

Clan and group identifiers such as armbands are being added as far as I know.

And you're going to check out the waistband of that sniper...600m away...prone...in a ghillie suit? Hats off!

Depending on his angle and his view of the player then yes, I believe that he could... and would!

Rather than a system like this, I tend to draw back on one of Rocket's previous statements about there being something to promote friendly (not shooting randoms for the sake of shooting randoms) interactions in-game. I agree with Rocket's idea there. At the moment, there isn't much. The only friendly interactions I've had with people have been the RRF, random Heroes I find around the joint, on private hives with side-chat and when I'm completely unarmed. It would be nice to wave to the man on the hotel rather than evade his gunfire.

I hope its nothing further than arm bands but that does sound pretty RAD

Oh and another thing OP.. play in a group or join a clan or something and travel in numbers and you will be giving ppl this problem far less than receiving it !
