How do I stop ARMA 2 OA from loading DayZ

Recommended Posts

I want to play Arma 2 OA but the Single Player Option is greyed out and can't be clicked. I have tried doing a fresh install and all I can do is play Arma 2 SP. I have tried disabling DayZ in the Expansions section but it says it's already disabled,

I have even fully deleted DayZ and even when I clock Arma 2 OA it says, "dayz_anim requires..."

I would like to know this as well. I cannot untick the dayz option (stays green) in expansions. When i go single player nearly all of the single player missions are broken or do not load. because of some random error like op above. A few patches back i could still do all of the single player oa missions no troubles. Launching through desktop shortcut which goes via steam.

I usually go to the expansions menu while running the beta.exe from the arma 2 OA folder, and disable dayz (You may have to manually download a beta patch to have this executable).. If that doesnt work for you, Just make a new folder on your desktop, and move all mods from your arma 2 OA directory into that file. Move them back when you wanna play dayz again :)

Alright. I'll do my best to explain how I did it but you guys could have completely different setups. I believe there were several ways to launch the game before DayZ Commander came out and I chose what was easiest for me.

I originally launched DayZ via the _runA2CA_beta.cmd file in the ArmA2OA directory. (I used a shortcut to that .cmd file and I have the steam version)

All I had to do was find the @DayZ in the .cmd file and remove it. The @DayZ was on this line:

call "%_ARMA2OAPATH%\Expansion\beta\ARMA2OA.exe" "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca;@DayZ"

I removed the DayZ bit and it looked like this:

call "%_ARMA2OAPATH%\Expansion\beta\ARMA2OA.exe" "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca;"

Now I just launch via the same shortcut and get into the game. I may have been launching the game in a completely different manner from you guys. I'm not sure if this is entirely the best way to do it but it's been working for me. I haven't tried playing ArmA online with this setup but I have played the Dynamic Zombie Sandbox mission online without any issues.

Ninja edit: Yup, works online this way.

Hope that helps someone.

A simple way to do it is to go into your Arma 2 OA folder, then expansions, then beta, and copy the arma2oa application and paste it into your Arma 2 OA folder. By launching your game through this, you can enable/disable any expansions that you would like, allowing you to play both default Arma as well as DayZ maps that aren't supported by DayZ Commander yet.

This worked fine, i simply copied my exe to desktop and away she went. Cheers :)

ArmA 2 Launcher and DayZ Commander are both good ones. I use both. DayZ breaks the singleplayer, so it's disabled when you have it loaded.

Just letting you know, any time you want to update your beta patch, you will need to copy and paste a new exe, but you can delete the old one.
