hoik 415 Posted November 23, 2012 (edited) Well, maybe... I guess it really comes down to your opinion of fun. So let people keep all their shit, it doesn't effect me - they are the ones who are skipping out on the best part of dayZ IMO (ATM). Play the game how ever you like as long as it afords you the best expericene you want from the game. If it doesn't, and your finding it boring - try doing something different!Anyway, talking about realism - have you seen that there will be infectious diseases in the SA? Now its time to have a PROPER bitch. Edited November 23, 2012 by Hoik
seddrik 44 Posted November 23, 2012 Played Ace mod some, where the med system was more diverse. It was actually interesting. Dunno how standalone will be, but as long as the diseases arent rediculous (like getting sick on namalsk... almost guaranateed withing 20 minutes of playing) then I don't mind variety in the game. hoik 415 Posted November 23, 2012 Exaclty - a game doesn't have to be "ice-cream and gummybears" to be fun, it can be more like...a goats cheese?
seddrik 44 Posted November 23, 2012 I like those goatcheese candy things. Don't remember the name. Not sure what you meant tho Hoik... lol
Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted November 23, 2012 Why?Because it will be hilarious reading posts from people who lost all their stuff! As mentioned before, those who hoarde all the kit are missing out on the wider aspects of the game, some move on to player killing using the age old " I've done everything there's nothing left but killing"Regular resets will ensure an even playing field, once you have the basics you can try different styles of playing. Hopefully the SA will allow for more game styles which rely on player cooperation! That's just my opinion, if ya don't like it give me your beans, I'm 4 short of 500! mzltv 2281 Posted November 23, 2012 There is literally zero logic as to why they should wipe the HIVE data now; the mod has little security in terms of hackers, so if it was wiped now, then all that it will solve is the historical issue - people are still gonna come onto servers and script in weapon crates, and the like. However, I'd hope they don't copy the HIVE data from DayZ mod to DayZ SA; I get the impression DayZ SA will be a lot more secure, so if data is to be wiped, it should be once everyone is on the SA (like I said, assuming they copy the data across the two)
jamieledgeway@hotmail.co.uk 216 Posted November 23, 2012 I think there should be a way to destroy tents on a server. Not just run them over so they pop up after a restart. If i have a base somewhere and I die, part of me naturally wants to return to the base and get some gear. But I know that'd be 'cheating' myself and the purpose of the game which is to scavange etc. I therefore don't really like even the knowledge that I have some tents somewhere on the server.I don't see the problems with tents going after death? I haven't heard a logical reason for them to stay, other than people that simply, cant be bothered to loot.
Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted November 23, 2012 How about the ability to set tents on fire? Easy as making a fire with the right stuff, matches and fuel! That would allow the stray player who finds the camps a way of evening the playing field. Most would burn them down out of spite or even strategy! If public hive get wiped yes it will allow scripters to do it all again, but, the private community has made great leaps in security why not just adopt? Private servers are their own masters, they pay so they should get the say!
hoik 415 Posted November 23, 2012 (edited) I think DayZ Redux lets you burn tents - seeing as they've used things from Redux before (the combat log) they might bring this across to the vanilla as well.I like those goatcheese candy things. Don't remember the name. Not sure what you meant tho Hoik... lolLol - yeah its a dumb analogy - just meant that we can all easyly appreciate some things, while others might seem unappealing but just need time to appreciate (or some bollocks like that :) ) Edited November 23, 2012 by Hoik
