New Computer Specs

Hey, so right now I have a laptop and I have to go on the lowest settings and can't go into towns or servers with a lot of people. I'm buying a new computer but i want to know what Specs on the new desktop do I need to be able to play on normal - very high settings on a server with 30+ people in a big town and not lag at all.

i have the same exact problem. I have an old desk top and im trying to figure out what parts to get for it to run the the game at high settings without spending a fortune. so if anyone has recommendations for us, please reply. thanks

I didn't read your post all the way through. My bad, anyways, if you're looking for a desktop that you can freely upgrade in the future, but want to play on High Settings with 30+ FPS, then I have a decent desktop for you. Though I need some information on how much you are willing to spend. For now, I'll give you a cheap option, then I'll show you some upgrades you can make if you feel this computer isn't enough. This build should be just fine for gaming, and you shouldn't worry too much about the chip, as it has hyperthreading, which allows the computer to see it as a Quad-Core CPU.

That's actually pretty cheap for a computer that can run high settings at about 30 FPS. I do like some of these parts as I've recommended them in the past before. If you want a cheaper system, it's completely possible, but I thought I'd set you up on a good system. Keep in mind, prices are constantly changing, and I had estimated them to the nearest dollar. If you are European, you can estimate them to Euro by looking it up online. To also build it, I highly suggest checking out newegg's 3 part videos on how to build and set up your PC.

quite honestly if you don't wish to build it yourself then you can get a great budget build from cyberpower for $600 to $700, probably fit in a nice 600 series nvidia card and maybe even an intel quad core if you're lucky.

And how many FPS does it drop down to when you go into Cherno or another big city?

I have a similar rig, except I have an i5 3570K and an EVGA GTX 670 FTW (factory overclocked).

When I look at Cherno, my FPS tanks down to 34 or so, and I also have everything pretty much maxed (with the exception of AA) at 1920x1080. Outside of cities in the wilderness, my FPS is usually 60+ average.

I think I can say with confidence that a $600 rig will not let you run this game with absolutely no "lag" (aka, FPS below 55-60). A smooth gameplay experience means FPS no less than 60, and there's no way a $600 rig can get you there on Day Z.

In fact, I'm considering purchasing a second GTX 670 for SLI to see how much it improves my framerate. I would think quite a bit. If you really want "no lag" on Day Z, be prepared to spend around $1500 minimum.
