Hetstaine 10852 Posted October 3, 2012 Post the essays/reports!!!They too are being posted everday :) It's a constantly changing class and the teacher keeps moving the goalposts..although sticking to the original basic theme. I don't know if you could wrap it all up in one tidy essay quite yet..but old mate about40sheep above does it for at least 50% of the playing population :)'i wanted to play this game of survival how i thought it was to be played and try to interact nicely with other players. I was shot therefore i know will kos.' I think this is why so many people have struggled with the concept and turned it into a kos game. It is far easier to kos than it is to not.i did write a big roundup as i see it but cloudflare ate it so i will stick with the part option that is repeated on here every day for many months now...'I was shot therefore i know will kos.' porkus_maximus 36 Posted October 3, 2012 You want people to stop mindlessly deathmatching in Chero? Then you need to give players something else to do."This game is a sandbox!" I hear people say. Yeah it's a sandbox alright, one big empty sandbox. What exactly is there left to do in the game after I've made the journey north for the Nth time? I spend an hour or two getting my character tooled up with sweet military loot and then I do...what exactly? Go look for a vehicle? To what end? I get miltary loot and a vehicle so I can... get more military loot and vehicles. What's the point? Once you been to the airfield a few times, found a few crashed hellies and fixed up a couple of vehicles you've experienced everything the game has to offer.THERE. IS. NOTHING. LEFT. TO. DO. IN. THIS. MOD.May as well take my nifty military gear and go shoot people and where am I going to find people? Cherno. Elektro.Give me ONE reason why I shouldn't shoot everyone I encounter on sight. There is honestly not one single reason why I shouldn't just kill every single player I come across because there are zero negative consequences for my actions. Skin69niks 72 Posted October 3, 2012 I'm reposting this for posterity because one day you'll remember you wrote this and rush back to edit it. And it will still be here. Mocking you.The mere fact that the challenge was not even acknowledged validates my first impression. In case you didn't get the scent from my previous posts, I am as direct and concise with my words as I am with the rounds I send down range....in game or out. As is true with those rounds, once sent there is no going back and I am not a man who second guesses himself often. I stand by my evaluation of you, your opinion as stated in your post and the offer to meet is an open invitation.
dsi24 227 Posted October 3, 2012 People being friendly to other people = more friendly people. Just be friendly, even if someone is shooting at you, escape if you can.

Elias (DayZ) 57 Posted October 4, 2012 ...When I spawn, I'll head to Cherno or Elektro, and just run all the way through, find the fire station, acquire a weapon, and then start from there. If you get shot, fine, you'll just rinse and repeat. If you find a lone survivor, you'll take him out and grab his gear. He might have some good equipment, so you'll take it and continue on your small journey....I don't know how to solve this issue - and that's why I'm asking the community, what should we do?...The solution is simple, change your playstyle. Stop murdering other people for a start. If you want to change the world you start with yourself. The only change can come from within, because the Mod *allows* you to make your own choices. So, in the end, there is no one else to blame but ourselves. So, in fact, there is no issue. It's just people.

It's not fun to always be the victim. It's not fun to always run and hide whenever you see another player. It's not fun to get shot in the back by someone you're trying to help. It's not fun to get killed by someone because I have something they want.So fuck it, I shoot 99% of people I see on sight. I kill them before they can kill me. I kill them because then I don't need to spend all my time hiding in fear. I kill them so they can't betray me. I kill them so they can't take my gear. thelonewarrior 886 Posted October 4, 2012 (edited) It isnt true about if there are more friendlies they still lose.Look at some of my videos, especially the one where we had a squad of 6 enforce a no KOS policy in elektro. In the missions ive run with my clan, most of the time we succeed with minimal casualties.WHY?Because we are well armed, in force and anyone who sees us thinks twice about engaging us, in one mission we lost one of our team to two bandits, and hit them with everything we had and they failed as they panicked against 5 of usPoint is.....if the law is there and its a stronger force than yourself your not going to win. We are friendly, they know that by the fact that we didnt shoot them when we surrounded them. They are free to go their own way but they moment they do something bandit like, they get sniped from our overwatch. We spot, track and follow those suspected and if they shoot a survivor on sight we take them out.The only reason the game/ mod exists in its current state is due to the bandits outnumbering the friendlies so overall their playstyle rules. The moment their are more friendlies it will change. For example, 50 players in a server, 5 are friendly, 45 are bandits. They are going to get killed over and over. The bandits will kill each other off eventuallyAnother example. 45 friendlies in a server, 5 bandits. Friendlies are going to rat out the bandits to other people, where they are ect and the friendlies will move in force to eliminate them as they can work together to eliminate the threat, the bandits wont work together unless they are already a teamIn scenario 1, if each player has only 1 life I predict all the bandits will kill each other off including the friendlies, everybody ends up dying here.In scenario 2, I predict that the bandits will kill 2-3 people each on average before being killed themselves. So perhaps 20 friendlies (or other bandits) will die at the most. If a bandit kills someone and another player (friendly) is nearby they will probably kill the bandit themselves to protect themselves. The friendlies will have more encounters with each other and if they call friendly they will team up, so even if a bandit opens fire theres a chance the friendly groups can take them out in the return fire. You may get 1 or 2 badass bandits that are the real deal, but most bandits wont be. In scenario 2, theres a good chance the friendlies will survive with more people. Therefore, that is the problem. There are more bandits then friendlies and if there were 99% friendly and 1% bandits we would be having the same conversation in reverse 'OMG OMG why cant I be a bandit, all these people everywhere keep hunting me donw because I shot their friends, its not fair that I cant go around killing everyone with no consequences' Edited October 4, 2012 by Regulator Lone Warrior
catface.jpg 75 Posted October 4, 2012 When I said friendlies lose, I didn't mean they lose the battle. i didn't mean 30 friendlies vs 1 bandit = 30 dead friendlies. I didn't even say that. What I said was one bandit forces the deathmatch mechanic. Which you just proved in your story. You were 6 friendlies, scavenging. 2 Bandits show up...now you're opening fire. You're deathmatching with them. Just because you came out alive doesn't mean it wasn't a deathmatch. You just won the battle. Good on you. But u missed my point :
gizm0 96 Posted October 5, 2012 (edited) reasons why I left Dayz, cause you can't avoid the deathmatch mechanic but they can avoid the social mechanics.edit: Bean king since like post 500, I need a new title. Edited October 5, 2012 by Orthus
