tehrealpilot 0 Posted October 1, 2012 So some back story. I play (well used to play) on an underpopulated server US 3033. Averaging up to 10 people every night. My clan and I managed to earn ourselves enough supplies for a small army. We had a UAZ, ATV, pickup truck, and a ural, and about 20 of the rarest guns spread throughout those, not to mention 5 pairs of nvg's gps' and other things. Anyway the server we play on has gotten really popular lately, filling up every night with 40 people, so today we decided it would be best to move our campsite deeper into chernarus. We packed up and hit the road in a long convoy. The journey was uneventful until we were near our campsite. All of a sudden a guy in a bandit suit appeared about 30 yards in front of me (i was convoy lead in the ural) shot 2 rounds at me, and blew up the truck. A firefight ensued leaving all of our clan members dead, and the perp uninjured. I for one hit him at least twice that i know uf, yet he walked away unscathed. In all I lost a GPS NVG's cyote backpack, l85a2, m4a1 holo SD, ghillie suit, and other things. Long story short: hackers have completely ruined this game, and i am still pissed beyond belief that 2 months of hard work has just been shat on by some script kiddy. Until army gets these issues solved I'm as good as gone. I now regret buying this game now that this is what it has come to. GOOD DAY. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

tehrealpilot 0 Posted October 1, 2012 (edited) well I bought arma through steam, and I wouldn't be angry if it was an actual player that layed assault on our convoy, I'm angry that it was someone whose sole purpose is to ruin other people's enjoyment. and that is exactly what he did. Hacking is a known problem and is a problem inherent to Arma, which is a very trusting game and open to modding. The problem will be solved in the standalone.Until then, I suggest you look for a well moderated Private Hive, they usually have higher security measures in place and allow the admins to kick and ban people. Don't get too connected to your stash or even the gear you got on you.Let's be fair about the hacker situation, did anyone see a mod for Arma2 being this popular and needing such proactive measures to be taken against hackers? Over 1.2 million UNIQUE players, on a game intended for how many? There must be other priorities for the devs atm and you can go private anywho. I'm guessing the dev team and the battleye folks don't have the same resources as the those that made other very successful titles that have had issues with hackers. No doubt the standalone will be an improvement.
