tuchmaipp 2 Posted May 6, 2012 i see pellet rounds get a lot of flak, so im wondering:1. why does everyone think pellets are bad? do they have worse stopping power even at optimal range compared to slugs?2. in fact, what IS the optimal range of pellets? what's the optimal range of slugs? do these values differ depending on whether its a winchester or m1014/remington?3. do winchester rounds have less power vs 1014 rounds, both slug/pellets? starvymarvy781 0 Posted May 6, 2012 not sure on the exact ranges, but I wouldn't use pellets over 30m.I was a firearm instructor(before I went back to school) and I tested MY Remington 870 Express one day at work. At 30m, the birdshot spread is horrible. Buckshot was decent, all 12 pellets hit within center mass. Slugs are way more devastating, but the shells only contain ONE 1oz. piece of lead.So...Birdshot = 200-300 tiny 'BB'sBuckshot = 12 8.4mm balls (In 00 Buckshot at least)Slug = 1 1oz. shotSlug will be the hardest to hit with, but the most lethal. Pellets are more effective in close quarters, as you have some 'spread' of the pellets. This makes the target easier to hit, but not as effective.Sorry..IDK about the winchester. I know the Rem 870 and the M1014 both use 12 guage ammunition
samatra 41 Posted May 6, 2012 Pellets are effective against zombies, one shot can kill up to 3 zombies at once (I had a chance to test it out inside building with crapton of zombies walking to me). Each pellet also can create bleeding on players making them lose blood very fast, but i don't recall pellets knocking somebody down though. In other words, pellets for zombies, slugs for players. ratszo 2 Posted May 6, 2012 You can shoot the M1014 off-line by creating a lan game. From the multiplayer screen click 'new'; create; select Chem map; select 'Armory' --spawn into the Armex arms fair at the NW airbase.
orbital 10 Posted May 6, 2012 A shame the M1014(flashlight) can't use the same ammunition as the Winchester, had to leave it in the spot I found it and continue with my chester. My pal uses pellets and I use slugs, makes it easier to divide ammo found. Pellets are really effective against Zed's, guess I just love the thought behind the slug.
