Should I bother getting Arma II or wait until the standalone DayZ?

I've been reading and watching a lot about this game and I really want to buy it now, but the incredible amount of glitches are putting me off. Not to mention the fact that I wouldn't play Arma II if I got it for DayZ, and it's quite expensive (£25 compared to around £12 for the alpha standalone game).

Should I get Arma II now and play the mod, or wait for the standalone version?
