Phantasm (DayZ) 57 Posted September 28, 2012 (edited) Where is the ideal sweet spot for shooting bus, I've heard conflicting opinions. The other night I emptied a clip of a DMR into the front of one and only managed to bust out the window (it was stationary). Is the engine in the back/side or was I just a bit unlucky and the front is where the engine block is? Edited September 28, 2012 by Phantasm
merrfack 90 Posted September 28, 2012 (edited) I gun for tires on most vehicles if I don't think I can hit the driver... other wise driver period. Hit a couple tires on a bus and its worthless... they will have to egress away from it or use it for cover. As for a weak spot I am unsure Edited September 28, 2012 by merrfack
Phantasm (DayZ) 57 Posted September 28, 2012 yeah this is mainly for bus being used as a mobile camp so it's stationary.

Mandalore (DayZ) 76 Posted September 28, 2012 If you don't have a .50 don't bother shooting anything other than the driver or the wheels.Unless you have boatloads of ammo.

If the bus was being driven then the driver/wheels are the obvious choices. I come across vehicle camps quite often in my hunts and the one vehicle I have had problems permanently disabling (kah-boom+save) is the bus.I thought I made this clear in the op. Phantasm (DayZ) 57 Posted September 28, 2012 (edited) Actually, I'll load up Armory and solve this myself, don't know why I didn't think of that before. Edited September 28, 2012 by Phantasm
SquishyBear 31 Posted September 28, 2012 (edited) Satchel charges (it's screenshot worthy), grenades (chance of it glitching away) or shooting at the back of the bus, you know, where the engine is. They tend to smoke for a while before it eventually will go boom. Edited September 28, 2012 by SquishyBear

I still wouldn't shoot it with anything less than a .50 though - waste of ammo.
TheDuriel 26 Posted September 29, 2012 a direct hit in the engine will destroy every vehicleits a bit tricky on some vehicles
aussiestig 681 Posted September 29, 2012 The rear around the same height of the tail lights is where the engine is.I managed to find this out one day while shooting a zombie with an M1911, missing it and seeing it hit the bus just to the left of the right tail light. I thought, that'll do nothing, and then the bus blew up :(
