DayZ is a joke in its current form

Recommended Posts

That's a horrible and very narrow minded way to look at the game.

Not at all, it's the truth of the matter. THis game has a very specific target audience and sadly not everyone realises this. I was making a response in context to the guy who basically but factiously was saying you have to avoid people in the forests and stay out of the way and not bother making contact with other payers at all.

It's certainly one "safer" approach but you have to accept there is a significant element to the game that is PvP and you are going to come across more aggressive players than passives. The ratio hasnt really changed much in my opinion since release and if you dont like being killed pointlessly then why play at all?

People do still help each other, it's just the luck of the draw and you have got to be realistic that there's going to be more people who are either going to kill. There's more reason to kill you than there is to help you and for me that's about right and adds to the tension of the game.

I've been playing myself since shortly after the game went live and I think the game is no worse relatively than it ever was. In fact I'd say it was in a much dire state this time back in July.

I'm confident there will be more content within the game to keep people more occupied in stand alone. Until then as I said you just need to be careful who you team up with and try to make contacts outside of the game to get involved with in-game. That doesn't necessarily mean coercing your best buddy into buying the game to get a game in. Our community for example is a good place to find other casual players that are pretty much "safe" and ok with teaming up for scavenges and survival play.

I just think there needs to be a few more incentives in the game. But by changing things you kind of spoil the novelty of the game and it's hard to choose what to do with it.

Maybe I'm just having a bad day with it and some crummy luck since getting back into it, but what was once fun (and yes to other people the game is actually fun rather than "hard") is a bit ruined by people getting bored with nothing else to do rather than kill others. If there were objectives or incentives to go do other things then I think people would team up a bit more to help each other.

What's that, you got killed again and came to rage on the forums? Seriously, people need to stop this.

I'm not raging, I'm not posting in caps or swearing left right and center. I'm just expressing an opinion

Yeah, you become the "Jerk".

So far DayZ has been one of the best Social experiments i've ever witnessed, i've noticed people change, become what they swore they wouldn't... some start to pity, others crave power.

Human nature is a twisted yet divine thing

This right here.

DayZ is about survival. To survive, you have to think and behave the way a survivor would have to in a world like post apocalyptic Chernerus. Everything is at a premium, and if you want it you have to take the risk and be prepared to lose for it. You will definately go into seemingly safe and simple situations and come out nigh dead with naught but a can of sardines and a pepsi for your efforts, but thats how it is and that's how it would really be... It's 'Who Dares, Wins' out there... Breathe it in deep and savour the moments.

OP You say the fun is going for you. Well not everybody is like you thank god. Dayz is not just about zombies and playing with the animals in the woods and the quicker you carebares realise this the better for us all. A large part of it is pvp. And for me the zombies are nothing more than an incovience now put another player in that zombie position and its a whole new ball game and that gets my heart racing and its into fighting mode. pvp is what makes DayZ what it is if you don't like that then maybe it's not for you.

Try to play on a server with side channel. There's more teamwork between random players when they can actually communicate with each other without being within a 50m(?) radius of each other.

The game has changed from a few months ago that's for sure. I don't play on hive servers anymore not worth it, just a big waste of time... I may get hammered for saying this but I play on a paid server. As in I paid a certain amount of money (not much) to spawn with gear and get helicopters. It hasn't ruined the game at all if anything it has made it 10x better. Once you do everything 100x over the game becomes increasingly boring, it needs more and Rocket knows this! But it doesn't really matter anymore with the stand alone coming and that's the mind set I think most people have.

I believe that is the point of this game.... its supposed to be hard...

And I believe that the very point of games existence is to have fun. If you don't enjoy it, why buy it? They were created to be a fun leisure time activity.

You have to resign yourself to changes within the game at this stage of development. Besides that you're actually arguing for and against this by saying people need to be kept entertained to stop them killing needlessly but you cant update or change the game,.... doesn't make sense to me. Not that it matters because no matter what there is to do in the game people will still kill on sight.

Whether this is because they see you as a potential threat, they want your stuff or purely because they want to see how you fall, you will still get this and it's probably right as it is a survival sandbox game. Personally I know I'll always kill stranger on sight if I feel they will be a threat to my objectives and I know the guys I play with would do the same no matter what in game objectives or content there was - it's prison rules, survival of the fittest, and sometimes you have to accept you are the bummee and not the bummer.

Indeed, War is never pretty, kill or be killed in my eyes...

If someone has lowered their weapon and approaches me saying friendly then i shall let them live... anyone else however is a target, in the way of what im going to achieve... therefore must be killed. Taking risks aint an option

If you don't like something stop doing it. Plain and simple, wait for the standalone but please stop your whineing and moaning on the forums because you can't enjoy a game. Your point of view is valid but to prolong a conversation when you clearly don't like the experiences a waste of time.

When the private servers took off they came out with additional stuff to ensure their members had a better experience, sign up and play without the hassle of hackers and glitching. The community has taken over DayZ and made it into a safer place to play for the most. Yeah they sometimes get through but it is dealt with sooner than not.

Seriously to all those who give up, gave in or are just too QQ over this game, find a server with security ( look in the private server section) and enjoy again. Or leave. I would even ask you go and filter a no PVP server to play on, if you want to socialise in game.

All your tears are belong to us.

Yes today I was killed too many times in Fallujah again.

And this is the problem with the DayZ community. All you guys have a "if you don't like it then leave" attitude. Rather than help people play or learn. In my case I learned and almost have to re-learn everything because of how pessimistic the users have become. I'm not whining cos I suck at the game, I can admit when I do something stupid or get myself killed. But when I just spawn and skulk along a few hundred yards and get gunned down when I have nothing of value is not fun, challenging or hard. It's just redundant.

Think of new players coming in to join the large DayZ community and you have the vets who just gun them down over and over and say "get used to it" or "if you don't like it then stop playing" after they spend their hard earned money on the game. There seems to be no room for helping and teaching anymore in the game and it's more about who can shoot the other one faster.

The DayZ community is one of the most hostile in gaming

Hey it was the same when i started playing, you got shot, you died you got on with it... it made me a better player in the end, i focused, created a group, tought them what i had learned and now the game couldn't be anymore perfect.

What new players lack is patience, they expect to log in and within 20 minutes be geared to the teeth and fighting waves of anything, well that just doesn't happen.

Welcome to harsh realities of playing online gaming, jeez if i was to pick up CoD now i would get hammered, but i would still play, no complaints till i learned, till i adapted, all take time and patience again something alot of players lack!

Again they bought ARMA, not DayZ and the way i see it is i will see fit to play the game how i like.... and to be honest the more i see these threads the more i march me and my troops south just to hit a few of you, just for making me read and reply...

Im sorry sir but welcome to a cruel and unforgiving world where 9/10 people just don't give two hoots about anyone else apart from themselves.

Adapt or Die my friend.

I agree.... but it is a roll of the dice. Sometimes people help the rookies, other times there just dead before they know it. When I first started back in the dayZ, I wouldn't last 20 minutes... now im a "days" kinda guy. Weapons hot as soon as I get one.... lets see what happens
