Does this look good for running DayZ?

Recommended Posts

I'm building a computer, and I was wondering how well it would run DayZ. Here's what's going into it:

Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-2662-KR GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

GIGABYTE GA-Z77MX-D3H LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL

Intel Core i5-2310 Sandy Bridge 2.9GHz (3.2GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 BX80623I52310

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM

Cost plus shipping is $800. (I have a keyboard, thermal paste, power supply, and case added in which adds about $150, making it about $950 total)

Any improvements that will keep me around the same price would be greatly appreciated.

Yep. Looks good!

Do you have any idea how high frames I'd run at on high settings?

You've posted these "how will dayz run on this" topics a few times now. I'll save you some time and just say anything that has above an integrated graphics card and an AMD quad-core will be fine. That's what i'm running dayz on; please stop asking.

I've been having some conflictions on what I'm going to build. This is the last time I'll post something of this nature. I'm also a software nut, I'm not so big on the hardware aspect of computers. Sorry for basically spamming with these.

For the SAME price (See Edit), you can get the Caviar Black (newegg) instead of the Caviar Blue.

For an extra $50 you can get the Caviar Black 1TB. The blue line is of decent quality, but the black line is faster and more reliable. I have had 2 1TB Blacks running for over a year now and absolutely no regrets.

EDIT: Just noticed that the 500GB Caviar Black is on a shell shocker deal for today only ($30 off / reg $99) so the above is only true for a short time.

I might look at that, although I'm on an "Under $1000 budget" right now.

Wow, thanks for being agreeable; I'm sure you will make it far in life.

Also the one you suggested will be more than enough... The reason why you should take the 7870 hawk is that it has a nicer price with almost the same performance (or higher if you overclock). And the reason for the i5 2500k is that its more suitanle for gaming and perhaps a little more future-proof.

I wonder why many people come to this forum and ask if their specs are good. The Arma 2 engine is very unsable and lower specs can run this game very good.

I got shitty specs on my computer and i run the game on very high(40 fps all over and minimum lagg) also if often depends on the server.

You should ask on another forum for a high grafic/high cpu spec games instead of arma 2.

My opinion
