Langya Bushwookie 0 Posted September 26, 2012 i'm not sure if this idea has already been posted but the crossbow it one of my favorite weapons and i'm starting to get bored of the normal bolts i think explosive bolts would liven the game up alot to.

hunterhalloo@hotmail.com 6 Posted September 27, 2012 Explosive bolts sounds a bit too Rambo.. Poisonous bolts though that drain 1-2k hp over the course of a minute or two (or over a longer period of time) sounds pretty normal if it came to the realistic part of the game.
Riem 164 Posted September 27, 2012 Arrows should continue to make a character bleed unless removed, and cause a significant amount of pain when you do so.

Kajin 25 Posted September 27, 2012 Crossbow Bolts recovered from the infected should have a chance of inflicting infection on players shot with them.

Bearded McGee 121 Posted September 27, 2012 (edited) Arrows should continue to make a character bleed unless removed, and cause a significant amount of pain when you do so.Actually, you don't bleed from an arrow as long as it's there. The bolt/arrow shaft usually seal the wound.I'd like a debuff as long as an arrow is still lodged into a player, when removed it creates a bleeding effect until bandaged. Say, permanent "pain" which would only be temporarily fixed by painkillers. Remove the arrow/bolt, bandage, then painkillers. Otherwise, the "pain" effect would just come back after a minute or so.Also, arrow wounds carry a MUCH greater chance of infection. Unlike bullets, arrows/bolts are most often unclean and dirty. Yeah, I'd use those. Edited September 27, 2012 by Axelord FTW

Yeah, I'd use those.Good point! I'd like to see broadhead bolts/arrows be added as well. Perhaps for the debuff your character would run slower, with a different animation that would show them clasping the general area of the wound as they staggered off? Riem 164 Posted September 27, 2012 Too bad every survivor in dayz is immune to the virus...But we're not all immune to simple infection. These bolts have been fired and likely retrieved, and probably not washed thoroughly every time, if at all. There would be dirt, dried fluids, and other such things that would be more than happy to give us an infection.
Gordon Axeman 191 Posted September 27, 2012 Lets add an optical sight to the crossbow.Seriously, if you want power go find an as50. Nuff said.
ciphra 8 Posted September 27, 2012 Crossbow Bolts recovered from the infected should have a chance of inflicting infection on players shot with them.I agree to this one here. chance of sickness, is like, 0.01% chance. I play DayZ around 1-2 months now, and even yesterday, when I've been laying down for half an hour, mid night on a cold rooftop in the rain, NO FUCKING ILLNESS. Antibiotics? Why are they even in the game? But, with the chance of infection (in the way discribed as above, crossbow bolts retrieved from zombitches should get a debuff causing infection. And should be reloadable, just like slugs and pallets in shotguns, you would have clean and infected crossbowbolts) crossbows will get back in the game again. Right now, like, every weapon is better then the crossbow. Yes it is silenced, but a winchester counts as nearly silenced and has a 15-bullet ammo clip. Yeah I know what I would take..But when you could infect players with crossbow bolts, making them cough (witch gives away position), make them have the same disruptive shacking as when feeling pain, and getting blurry vision (as when getting to few blood), it would bring a crossbow back in the PvP-range..Sir, you have my beans for starting my brain work up to this amazing idea ^^
Kajin 25 Posted September 27, 2012 Too bad every survivor in dayz is immune to the virus...Not the kind of infection I'm talking about. Even if the bolt was recovered from someone that wasn't an infected man eating lunatic, there'd still be the risk for all kinds of bacterial infestations that decided to feed on the dried blood leftover from the kill. Get shot with a bolt covered in that and you're in for a very bad day if you survive.
