Learning from Lingor

Recommended Posts

Honestly, if you haven't played this map yet, you need to. Just ten minutes and Dayz Commander will get you into this jungle paradise.

A few things that make Lingor great are...

1. The vast majority of buildings are enterable: gone are the days of running into doors in Chernarus

2. Strategy of staying in small towns is far more viable: instead of there being five loot spots in a town there are 50(not literal numbers, chill out ;))

3. Easier to find a gun: many more military spots

4. Side chat: allows players to be friendly instead of being forced to shoot

5. Skins: the character models look more unique and all around better, instead of your character being drawn form four combinations of vest and shirt

6. Landscape: Chernarus had gray, bland cities with five different models of buildings, Lingor has fixed this to a degree

Throw these into Chernarus, you could really get an engaging, fun map that is far more authentic than it is now. Add some new models for buildings so cherno and elektro don't have three cafes side-by-side that look exactly the same.

A side note....Maybe start with a Makarov and one magazines? Just so you can have SOME chance of defense against people hunting new-spawns, or at least scare them away until you find a real gun. Not like you can go on a PvP tirade with one mag since I don't even thing eight shots of a Makarov will kill.

1. The vast majority of buildings are enterable: gone are the days of running into doors in Chernarus
- A new map, "Chernarus Plus".Chernarus Plus will have more interactive (enter-able) buildings.

- Non-interactive buildings will be easier to spot

3. Easier to find a gun: many more military spots

all the ppl complaining about too much military grade weapons and u want more military loots

you just too lazy to get your gear dude!

Rocket wants to keep it real there is not a military building every 200 meter in your country or is there?

4. Side chat: allows players to be friendly instead of being forced to shoot

one does not simply become friendly because of side chat

it's a great tool for social interacting ofc but lowers the realism

5. Skins: the character models look more unique and all around better, instead of your character being drawn form four combinations of vest and shirt

they look better because they mostly use ArmA II Vanilla skins while DayZ uses BAF and PMC skins

buy the DLCs and u whill also have HQ models in DayZ

also:

Q: How customizable will player skins be in the standalone? Will they work like they do now (full-body replacements) or will you be able to find different shirts/hats/etc?

A: Different clothing is on my list of design priorities

6. Landscape: Chernarus had gray, bland cities with five different models of buildings, Lingor has fixed this to a degree

That's simply the way they wanted it and so they made it that way no need to change

u want a colorful pony paradise play lingor

I had a shot of Lingor, and I know where you're coming from, but that's not the game I want to play.

Seriously, within 5 minutes (not even exaggerating) I had 5 grenades M4A1 and all the mags I could carry. Wandered into what looked like a hotel, found 2 ghillie suits sitting on the floor. WTF?

I'm all for community produced material, but it's basically turned into PvP central over at Lingor. I know a lot of people like that sort of thing, and it's supposed to be part of the game, just not the sole focus.

Next map is DayZ - Big fuckoff box o' nukes island.

I suppose it might be good to visit Lingor in order to put my PvP skills to the test, but everything else I've heard about it just sounds awful. I play Day Z for the difficulty inherent in surviving while scrounging for supplies. Sounds like that is all but absent in Lingor.

You forgot the fact that some of the zombies wear sombreros.

The zombie skin changes are a great idea. Takistan and Fallujah should learn from this and change the zombie skins to reflect the local populace. Why there are East European zombies in Fallujah is beyond me.

The main points here were side chat, enterable building, and model variation. Hard to take the game seriously when you are being chased by 5 zombies that look exactly the same...

I have noticed a huge spike in PvP in Chernarus with the loss of side chat, and i am not the only one
